Every draft is my most important draft.

JK. Labor Day weekend is my big auction draft for ~10 years. I love the auction format for redraft. This one has a one keeper policy that you can pay a $5 auction fee on top of the player's price from last year. After roughly ten years I finally have a solid value keeper that is a stud. I'll be paying $10/$200 budget for Kamara. Stoked. Also, fair warning to everyone that this now means Kamara will bust this year. PSA.

I think Labour day is too late.  And there's always unorganized leagues that can't get their act together, throwing drafts on that weekend.  For my big league drafts, we like to do them the week before and I find that to be the perfect time.  My big ones are on the Sun/Mon aug 26th/27th.

Monday, September 3rd. Local League started in the 1980's!!! Might not be the most important, as I play a ton of high-stakes, but definitely the one with the most meaning...

A founding member invited me to pair up with him in 1994, and we've been a very successful Team for 24 Seasons. 30+ years later, League still going strong, the 'Grandaddy of 'em all' League around our area. Probably spawned about a dozen other spin-off Leagues that I know of, including 3 of my own, the active one which will be going into it's 18th Season. Way back in the day, we all used to run in the same circles...nowadays the Draft might be one of the few times you see the old crew for a year's time. So, 2 12-Team Leagues, of course there have been some departures over the years, but keeping track since the time I joined, there are still 14 Founders still involved for 2018, and that # was 16 less than a month ago. Only in recent years have some of the original Owners begun dropping out. Two have passed away in the last 5 years. Plenty of births and marriages/divorces along the way, too. I just turned 50, and I'm one of the younger guys in the group. With a $500 Entry Fee, there are several Teams with partners, and with such longevity, there's a waiting list...in recent years when an Owner has dropped, we've been asked to split, but we've always passed on the offer. This year, however, 2 Owners announced they were leaving at our Annual Meeting/Draft Pick Lottery in late July, and we made the decision to each run our own shows. Gonna be fun competing - we both wound up on the same side, thankfully not in the same Division, and at opposite ends of the Draft. Although the League has made some changes over the years, the lineups and scoring are still very archaic - very much rooted in the origins of FF - as such, there's more luck involved than in modern day Leagues, which I don't necessarily care for, but I can't imagine ever not being a part of it...it's going to be strange and exciting walking into that Draft Room this year and seeing my buddy across the room instead of sharing a workspace. I draft in a boatload of Leagues on my own, but so used to working as a partnership in this League, I might bring my not-quite-15-year-old son along to work the in-Draft organizational duties my partner typically handles while I focus on how Teams are building their Rosters, positional runs and distributions (computers aren't explicitly forbidden, but you'd be hazed mercilessly if you showed up with one)...coincidentally, that's about the same age that some of the older guys began bringing their own sons to the Draft, some of whom are now their partners...the Commish who started the whole affair, his 21-year-old is the one who's taking over the other vacancy! It didn't really occur to me until I started posting that I've spent the last half of my life in this League. Wow. Pretty neat.

My favorite league is entering year 23. Minimal turnover in owners and always fun. Switched to auction about 15 years ago and haven’t looked back. Never a ppr group, we are traditional scoring bunch. Keep 4 of 16 players for as long as you like but pay a $4 charge per player, per year kept. Format allows owners to build a core group but also ensures many good players are available, helping competitive balance. We are a ten teamer, which also ensures each roster has plenty of options.

Been friends with this group forever. I may only see a couple of the guys for this weekend. We started as a bunch of single guys in our 20s and now are middle aged, married guys with families.

Much more about friendships and being together than about football at this point. We are hoping to do a live auction (which by the way, is an absolute blast), on 8/24.

My 20+ year league drafts the Tuesday before the league opens ( 9/4 this year ).  After a few years at the beginning of trying to find a single day that 12 young adults with young families that fit everyone's schedule, we settled on this day, and it has been that way for over 15 years now.  The late draft helps with any surprise camp / preseason injuries, and having a known time slot lets everyone make plans accordingly.

Redraft - late, dynasty - just after nfl draft, keeper league - in between.  Having it spread out allows me to customize per league rules.  I probably enjoy the earlier drafts more (Dynasty) because the research and time spent pays more dividends (or teaches valuable lessons).

I think he was just looking for the draft date.
