When will the NFL implement the XP rule into the regular season? (1 Viewer)

I know the NFL is currently trying out moving the XP to the 20y line during the preseason to see how it affects kicking accuracy. Does anyone know when this rule change could actually be implemented into the regular season? Could the NFL implement the change for the 2014 season or would they have to wait until 2015? When will a decision on implementation be made?

Hopefully never. Narrow the uprights instead.
That, or I like the idea of making it against the rules to kick the ball from inside the 15 or 20 yard line. That way they'd have to snap the ball a bit further and kick it a bit further - adding a bit more difficulty.

I hate the inconsistency the proposed approach introduces...

Pick what play you want ahead of time, then we set different rules based on your choice, then we run the play. Ack...

One thing I love about football is that before every play you never truly know what is going to happen.

Would prefer forcing teams to always go for 2. Or something like a goal line play where you can run for 1 or pass for 2? Either way I just wanna see less kickers I guess.

Go back to the drop kick and make them do it from the 15 or 20. No place holder to set the ball up correctly.
That's interesting, too, but I think guys would start to get real good at it, too, especially on turf.

Would not be this season. Rule changes are voted on by the owners in the offseason.

would be quite interesting to see the coaches that are smart enough to go for 2 in the correct spots. it makes it a no brainer so often.

Because fake extra points happen SO often, right? I mean, the XP is just the most exciting play in football because you never know what's going to happen!!

Also, :lmao: at the idea that actually running the play is some strike against the preseason method. Do they not run a play currently? What am I reading?

I have no idea.

Who said anything about a fake XP? And what are you talking about with "actually running a play"?

You messing with me here? You said that the thing you don't like about the new approach is knowing ahead of time what's going to happen (XP vs. 2 point conversion) whereas before you didn't know what was going to happen before the snap. I'm not really sure what else could happen on an XP snap other than an XP or a fake XP, which pretty much never happens.
