When Your Top 3 FF Players Bye Same Week (1 Viewer)

Diamond One

Doing the prep work for my draft this weekend, I find myself in an interesting position with bye week issues and wanted to know if anyone else has ever been in a similiar situation...

I play in a "Keep 2" performance league, 12 teams deep, roster limit of 16 barring IR's. My two keepers bye in the same week. Here is the problem... After running some mocks and looking at countless cheatsheets (includes FBG general rankings and the VBD application), I find that my potential top pick coming out of the blocks could also be on the pine the same weekend.

My gut says that two key players out in a bye week is bad enough; having your TOP THREE riding the pine could be FF suicide (rather, putting yourself at a disadvantage by basically saying that you'll take the loss that week). What do you guys think? Has anyone else been in this boat & how did you fare?

Thoughs & comments much appreciated!

Take the loss, maybe you will get lucky.

I'd rather be horrible one week than have a stud out each week for a few weeks in a row.

If the draft falls the right way depending on how eccentric or flexible you are it is a great strategy to load up with players with the same BYE. Take all your medicine at once so to speak. NO good for survivor format obviously but if it is a calculated risk/loss then what's the big deal? Just imagine not ever having to find bye week fill-ins and having the extra roster space for ear-to-the-ground waiver pick ups like Romo or MJD or Colston last year. Why not?

In the past, I've not drafted guys I liked because of bye week conflicts. Now I'm taking a different approach - better to be really bad one week than to have 3 weeks where I'm missing one of my top guys. Matter of opinion.

I'm leaning that way too... :goodposting: Bouncing this for the afternoon crowd because I know many are drafting this weekend. Any other thoughts here?? Thanks again everyone...

H2H league? Total Points? combined?# "regular season" weeks to determine playoff teams?

:goodposting: some people actually strategize to have all their starters out for one partifcular week if you can believe it. I don't see this as a problem. It's extremely hard to have it work out that way and I'm not sure anyone accomplishes that but I agree this is an ecceptable thing to have.

If you are talking about the week 6 bye that is going to be a PIA for many owners, so is week 8 for some. You are very likely going to be facing a team playing shorthanded as well. I would not overly concern myself with it now.

Overall the later in the season the bye issue is the less of a problem it is right now.
