Where do I complain about the roughing the passer penalties (1 Viewer)

Unlucky

Phenom
So, you can't hit the QB in the head. Or below the knees. And now, apparently, you cannot hit him in the chest and fall on him. The direction of this league is going to kill defenses like the Steelers. I can't wait for 68-54 games every week because you can't freaking hit anyone.

Was at the game. The fans were going nuts. This commish has to go. Pathetic.

Seahawks got flagged on 3rd down on a completely clean hit on Brees. Instead of a punt they got scored on. Terrible call and it's going to happen every damn week repeatedly. Useless commish who's trying to get a team in ####### London. Get him out.

And of course since it was Harrison AGAIN you know the commish/N(o) F(un) L(eague) are probably going to fine him :(

Venting thread.
Bigger than that. It's having an adverse affect on the game, injuries are up and as evidenced today in the Pitt v OAK game, the officials are having a difficult time adjusting to the new, um, "interpretations"

A "Helmet to Helmet Hit" that was below the shoulder blades? Really?

A "using the full force of his body to drive the QB to the ground" when the player is clearly not even in position to use the full force of his body. Seriously?

It was pretty bad.

This columnist wants answers. There wil be more.

If the Commish is true to his words, this very well could be a suspension, it would be a travesty but that is the corner Goodell has painted himself in. They are either going to admit the call is bogus, (which it was), or have to deal with a 3 time offender.

I agree I happened to catch the play during a break in the Jets game and it looked perfectly legal to me.The trouble is being caused mostly because of the "new" edict from Mr. Bad(not Good)ell /Harrison's/Steelers rep/Poor Refereeing (because they want to keep their weekend jobs)

Where do i write about stars like Polamalu not getting flagged for twisting Brady's head off?

Was surprised to see that reply by the Squawk fan. Was actually going to put the Seahawk office number as a reference for you guys to call :D -QG

For every one they call, they miss one. See the bodyslam on Vince Young earlier this year.

ETA: ROFL @ Seymour.....I was looking for Chris Tucker to run in and stand over Ben....."You got knocked the $%#@ out!".

The flag on Seattle DE Raheem Brock was pretty bad. It seemed the very defintion of "doing it right", but he still got a flag. It would have been humanly impossible for him to hold up and not hit Brees, and when he did it was chest to chest. No helmet contact at all.

Didn't see this Pittsburgh game, but in the ones I've watched I've never come away thinking they were overly penalized. They seem like a team that like to play dirty, and try to injure people.

On the other hand, the two games I did watch yesterday, there were a plethora of bad calls. So the officiating in general does seem to be worse.

I'd like to see what the responses of the "Conspiracy Against Pittsburgh" guys were to the Hawk fans that were crying Conspiracy in XL. I'd imagine they want a different response than they gave back then.

After the calls from yesterday's game, if I were a Steeler's fan I would be furious. They refs were horrible.

While all three of the mentioned calls against the Steelers were terrible, terrible calls, I wouldn't say there's any conspiracy against them. I do think this "point of emphasis" is being closely watched in all games, particularly ones where "repeat offenders" are involved. I can't remember a game with worse officiating in my lifetime, however.

Goodell is obviously a closet Seahawks fan out for revenge ;) Of course it's the Steelers' own fault as Rooney headed the commission to find and hire Tagliabue's successor :D -QG

I would love for 2 players to have it organized, where when the WR catches the ball, the DB can go up to him, and just wrap him up and they could just both fall to the ground, get up, hug and go back to their huddles.

here's the Harrison hit:

I guess I am more on the anti helmet to helmet/head stuff than most. It comes down to being fundamental tacklers. Years ago, you tackled fundamentally because the gear you wore would not protect you from serious injuries if you did not. Now players launch themselves with arms back all the time - leading with the crown of the helmet. As to the video of the hit on Campbell - I am amazed how well all of you can see through Campbells body - must be xray vision. If the defender wants to hit in the upper chest area and slides the helmet up into the chin area, then he should not complain. I cannot see the play from the other side, but that is likely what happened. You hit the QB when he is throwing in the chin with your helmet, it is a penalty. That is not new, that has been called for several years now.

You can't pick up a QB and drive him into the ground. Whether you agree with the rule or not it's been around for awhile and the players are all aware of it. If Harrison still can't figure it out then that's on him. The refs made the right call.

Yeah, That's not what he did at all.
In fact the video evidence shows him using his right hand/forearm to prevent the full force of his body from coming down on the QB.

These Columnists have criticized the call

In addition Bob Golic this morning said it should of never had been called and it certainly shouldn't be fined and if it is, something is very wrong.

There are fans of many teams in this thread expressing the same point, the officiating is getting worse in the NFL.
