Probably ahead of Nelson.
Somewhere between Poison and Firehouse
Skid Row down?so they are #2?
What about Twisted Sister, Whitesnake, Warrant, Quiet Riot? Some consider Bon Jovi a hair band. Also Def Leppard gets called a hair band at times. If Crue is a hair band then it's (in no particular order)...
Poison
Motley Crue
Cinderella
Ratt

Should they be considered hair bands? If so, would that impact the top 4 you posted earlier? What about them?
I was not in to hair bands at all when all of my friends were. Cinderella was one of the only ones I liked (and Skid Row and Crue). I still can't stand the rest.Cinderella is one of the few bands, where a large number of their songs stand the test of time. I still listen to a bunch of hair metal, but a lot of it I listen to for the nostalgia. While I enjoy it still, it does sound dated. A lot of Cinderella's stuff just sounds like good, timeless, bluesy rock and roll.
It's not like there's a definitive list here. What about them?
Twisted Sister is hard Rock.
Whitesnake is rooted in it's Deep Purple past.
Warrant is just terrible.
Quiet Riot is heavy metal.
Bon Jovi.... Close but too pop.
Calling Def Leppard a hair band is a disservice to them and the term. They were an awesome rock band until they went pop with Hysteria (a great album nonetheless).
That list sucksIt's not like there's a definitive list here.

I disagree violently with your ranking Poison ahead of Motley Crue, but this post makes up for it.What about them?

Why would you go out on a limb when you're talking about who's best?No offense intended to Andy, but stating Motley Crue and Poison are two of the top hair bands of all time isn't exactly going out on a limb.
I did say "in no particular order".I disagree violently with your ranking Poison ahead of Motley Crue, but this post makes up for it.
White Lion has THE best hair band song in Wait.Just below White Lion.
Fair enough. Poison and Motely Crue both feature on my nostalgia running playlist, so it's not as if I think that either sucks or anything.I did say "in no particular order".
Hair Band, IMO, involves more than a dash of "glam" in their look. While DLR has a little, a little ain't enough, so no.If Bon Jovi is considered a hair band, they are clearly #1.
How about Van Halen?
I agree strongly with this. "Hair band" implies some "glam." That rules out Van Halen, Bon Jovi, and Def Leppard.Hair Band, IMO, involves more than a dash of "glam" in their look. While DLR has a little, a little ain't enough, so no.
Probably began with Shout At The Devil (not Too Fast For Love) and ended the second Nirvana released Nevermind.Thoughts on what years the Hair era encompassed? 83-92 seems about right.
No glam here?I agree strongly with this. "Hair band" implies some "glam." That rules out Van Halen, Bon Jovi, and Def Leppard.
Bon Jovi sucks, so no.If Bon Jovi is considered a hair band, they are clearly #1.
How about Van Halen?
Van Halen started in the 70's before the concept of hair band existed. They were a rock band first and foremost, with an unreal guitar player and screeching lead singer.Hair Band, IMO, involves more than a dash of "glam" in their look. While DLR has a little, a little ain't enough, so no.
Bon Jovi sucks, so no.
DLR is a hair band himself, but not van Halen
Agreed those aren’t hair bands,I agree strongly with this. "Hair band" implies some "glam." That rules out Van Halen, Bon Jovi, and Def Leppard.
