If people are actually interested in that other idea of submitting 31 from one artist, we could make a rule like you can't do a band that scored in the top 10 or20 of these 3 drafts. That might make it more interesting and trim down the odds of getting multiple drafters with the same artist.
So we all just doing 31 songs from one band this time??
Honestly, I think that would be a fun countdown/draft as well. Each of us bring to the table their top 31 songs from a band/artist, but we don't say who it is before the draft starts.
Of course. I just figured most of us have 5-10 bands we love enough to throw together 31 songs for. I guess the downfall would be if several of us do the same artist.
Knowing this crew, there would probably be digging a little deeper for a band to highlight, but maybe I am wrong. We could also figure out way to do either a public or secret random order/draft and limit it to only one drafter allowed/artist.

I'm going down a lot of dark alley's discovering new songs, and rediscovering songs that were nearly forgotten. My playlist is going to stomp *** once I finalize it.
I don't know how many various formats you have received on previous submissions, but I think you liked the format I used in PMs, which was nothing but copy and paste from an unformatted four column Excel doc, which pastes into the board software nicely, and just as nicely back into Excel. Don't know if the same works with Google Sheets, but I'd be surprised if it did not. Anyway, I hope this snippet from the last draft is a handy little PSA. I sometimes work better with a visual than the written word, and this is one of those instances. HTH
@ALL, notice "Of" is capitalized in "Whiter Shade Of Pale."
EDIT: All I included in the Link column was the YouTube URL. Board software pulled in the youtube thumbnails and whatnot. Not sure what happens with a Spotify link.
We've got 23 days to kill. For you Kinks fans, or those about to be converted, here's The Contenders. The YouTube recommendation algorithm is vastly improved of late.

Future contest thought bubble, what if we did something by state?
By means unknown, we pick the top-16 "music" states and slot them in 16-team bracket tournament (sorry, Iowa, you can go kiss South Dakota), with a 5-song playlist submission for each round, with the obvious stipulation that a song is ineligible for future rounds once selected. It would be a team game, where particpants have to join Team Texas, or Team California, etc, where one person is the captain surrounded by a peanut gallery, or harem, or whatever.
...just an idea guy. Not sure how to determine winners of each round.
Eligibility: The rules for eligibility in this countdown will be "songs that weren't eligible in the first two countdowns"; please refer to the eligibility requirements and ineligible lists in those for guidance.
Quote function sure sucks.
Thanks all. Therefore you could do a list of 31 easily comprised entirely of UK and US artists with the rules set up in the first two.
Pretty good lists too.
I will do a mild countdown with comments, but just doing the playlist tired me out and I don't want to put max effort into the countdown. @krista4 - do you care if I put it in the UK countdown?

I wonder if you should keep it until we do your idea of a bunch of artist-related 31-song countdowns? I mean, I'm happy to have your list/thread now, but if we're going to do that you might save it?
Finally got "serious" about compiling a list of potential artists and now have a list of 45 to whittle down. Like the U. K. list I may have one artist with two entries.
Gotta say, in total, I don't like this list nearly as much as my U. K. one.

I did think about this, but I am going to unleash it this morning for a few reasons. The weather is crap and I can't go anywhere on my day off. I already revealed a top song, and that is not acceptable for my nerd brain if we do that idea. Most importantly, though - if I don't, I will obsess about this #$%!# list for the next few months and redo it another 100s times.
I'm starting to put my list together for this one. I'm trying to keep it more in the spirit (i.e. "the rest of the world") rather than look for "loopholes" that will allow bands/artists that were already fully represented in the other two exercises to get more songs on this list.
In other words, I'm leaving off huge British super-stars that will be eligible because their wives were not British but included in their bands or British/American bands that have one album with a German trombone player which made that one or two album(s) ineligible but allowed those bands to be otherwise well represented.
I will include bands that were completely* shut out because they are "mixed" or had one or two members born outside of the United States/England which kept them off the other two lists though - since this is the first time those bands can be represented.
* I'm including Fleetwood Mac for example, because most of their catalogue was ineligible so not necessarily "completely" shut out.
Yeah, but what about that ONE song that you love, and it happened to be on an album that had a German trombone player? That's why Thunderstruck showed up for me in the last exercise, it was too good of a song to pass up, and it was only legal at that point. Yes, more AC/DC will show on this list now, but that song can't.
I'd say if it's legal now, it's legal. Let's hear the best songs we can.

It would have been amazing if we had the rule that an artist could only show up on one of the countdowns and you knocked out AC/DC with Thunderstruck in the UK one.
I don’t care what anyone else does - I’m just saying what I’m doing. If some one wants to take every song off of Brothers In Arms album (for example) since that was the one (or two) Dire Straits album(s) ineligible in the last one they’re free to do that of course as it would be legal under letter of the law. I’m just going more with the “spirit of the law”.

X-posted from the Brits thread.
6 short clips from where we were standing on the second night. Only short clips because quite frankly I can't not sing for much longer than that
I am up to 47 countries and still going. Some brutal....and fairly easy cuts coming up.
Will definitely have stuff from China, India, Japan, Poland and Hungary.
Surprisingly a difficult choice coming up for Lebanon
