David Bowie for “Under Pressure” – David Bowie and Queen – Four points
If I had known Under Pressure would be counted as a Bowie song and not a Queen song it would've been my pick to win the Ace in a landslide :(
It's on the Queen album I think.
It is.
Original release is as a single by Queen & David Bowie.

That's why I assumed it would count as Queen.
It's credited as Queen and David Bowie, which means it counts as Queen/David Bowie, which is different from Queen or from David Bowie.

I might be misreading your post, but we've always counted these separately, whether it says "and" or "featuring." Same as it ever was. The person who submitted this one was clever to think of it, but that doesn't mean it's going to win. As I already revealed, until the Binky switcheroo, the Steppenwolf song was the winner.

Sullie:

Goodnight Tonight - Wings (Clearly it's because of Linda, she's like the Lars of Wings.)
(new artist)

The bass on this is to die for. If I ranked solo Beatles songs I would have this pretty high (Binky: low).

Sir Macca is a treasure - my favorite will always be John, and i dabbled with George for a bit as fave ("Dark Horse" floored me) ... but Macca is the bees kneez 🐝

Today I knew 22 songs not including my own but including songs that had already been picked.

ETA: 22 songs instead of 20, as I didn't recognize The Zoo and Come With Me Now by title.

Known-to-me favorites from #27:

Invisible Sun -- The Police (Binky)
Brass in Pocket -- Pretenders (Tim)
The Bleeding Heart Show -- The New Pornographers (Worrierking)
Take the Long Way Home -- Supertramp (Simey)
Goodnight Tonight -- Wings (Sullie)
Don't Dream It's Over -- Crowded House (Higgins)
I Wanna Be Sedated -- The Ramones (Zegras11)
Juke Box Hero -- Foreigner (MAC 32)
Takin' Care of Business -- Bachman-Turner Overdrive (Val Rannous)
Mama Told Me Not to Come -- Three Dog Night (Shuke)

Agreed and the flamenco guitar break in the middle is pretty sweet to me as well. . . actually, thinking about it, I really like the guitar work on this song quite a bit.

I wasn't in the other 2 so didn't know that part. Most likely won't matter to me as I expect to come in last in the contest.
And I do remember reading the Steppenwolf thing now :bag:

Hello, Mummy4, who is definitely a new poster and not associated with anyone whose posting privileges have been temporarily suspended. I'm wondering what you think of the song, "Invisible Sun"?

magnificent.

it's brooding with a fantastic underlying beat - and heavy, meaningful lyrics about the "Troubles" in Ireland.

I don't know this Binky person, but based on the previous picks - their musical tastes are right up my alley. That "Lemons Never Forget" song is from my "heydays".

Why won't this site let me post links? It's telling me the post is inappropriate - goodness, since when is a picture of dreamy Davey Jones on Tiger Beat - inappropriate??

Nevah - I say.

I was just agreeing it was on a Queen album.

Take The Long Way Home - Supertramp (England, Scotland, USA)
(new song)
I've always loved this song. The gentle thumping on the piano keys at the beginning lead right into that awesome harmonica, which I am a big fan of. I also love that swinging interplay between the clarinet and harmonica mid-song, and the synthesizers give the song an orchestral feel. The lyrics are ambiguous and somewhat melancholy, but the melody is upbeat and the song just has this feel about it that I love. If I'm driving and getting close to home and this song comes on, or any song I love for that matter, I take the long way home.
Great song. Not sure why, but I’ve always loved this video to the tune.

ANNOUNCE: It has come to the attention of Management. that "I Wanna Be Sedated" by Ramones should not be eligible here, because Tommy was not a Ramone on that album, although he was a Ramone. If you know what I mean, which you probably don't. Anyway, @Zegras11 , would you like a different Ramones song? Or you can leave it, but it's not really "official."

It might be my crowning achievement as a poster that my post-Beatles Beatles thread caused wikkid to become a solo Macca fan to the point he even made a Spotify playlist of his faves.

IN.

can't wait to tip a few with that ammo - i'm sure there are quite a few surprises - thanks for sharing it ✌️

new to me favs in playlist order

Look What Youve Done-Jet(just win baby) only know 2 songs by Jet but this one is good too. Sounds like the Beatles or Oasis
Toys and Flowers- The Hellacopters(Eephus) never heard of these guys- good song
Fur Immer-Neu!(OH) thought this was going to be a cover of the Warlock song. not even close but still good

let me help this young man ...

Tommy played on and co-produced the band's first three studio albums, Ramones (1976, though the production credit here went to Craig Leon), Leave Home (1977) and Rocket to Russia (1977)

Seems like more choices than you can shake a stick at!!

simsarge:

Angie Baby - Helen Reddy
I just lost my lunch. :lmao:
What did I just listen to? I'm referring to the lyrics -- the music is pretty good by yacht rock standards.
Angie appears to be a reclusive young lady who kidnapped a bad guy and has him tied up in her basement. That's just my best guess.

jeez, between that & "Delta Dawn", who were writing her lyrics? Annie Wilkes?

How anal does one have to be to bring up something like this?

Why even make a deal about this about a ****ing five point song? That likely no one else will even list.

I'm ****ing buried in a new job, and my only ****ing break from it is this thread. Whomever you are, be proud yourself.

I'm going to assume this was a Freudian slip and guess he really meant "Okay, no problem."

I think (hope?) he is joking......

i take the bullet for this one, buddy - Marky was on the kit and in the vid - Tommy cut off playing on the album prior.

so fire away at me if need be.

This is a variation of a joke my dad tells that he starts by saying this is The World's Worst Freudian Slip:

A couple is sitting at the dinner table and the husband looks up from his food, gazes into his wife's eyes and says "YOU MISERABLE B####! YOU'VE MADE MY LIFE A LIVING HELL AND I CAN'T WAIT TO BE RID OF YOUR SORRY ###!!!....err, I meant 'please pass the salt'."

Well, since you've outed yourself, I'd like to say that otb approached me in a kind way and said this, didn't ask for me to post about it or anything, but was just letting me know, not because he's anal or checking picks but because he's a Ramones expert. I made the decision myself to post about it, but given where we were in the countdown mentioned that Zegras could keep the pick, but I wanted to give him the opportunity to change it if he wished. We've been super nit-picky on all these countdowns, so this is nothing new, and never in my wildest dreams would I imagine someone taking it so badly. But if there is "fault," it's mine for posting about it, not otb's for pointing it out to me in a perfectly reasonable fashion.

I did check all the other Ramones entries after this and found another ineligible, so I had PM'd that person as well to see if they wanted to change. Hopefully it won't upset them.

ETA: And I should have said, I'm really sorry that it came to you (Zegras) when you were feeling so much other stress.

Well, I'm not that old but I'm "somewhere between hay and grass" as they say ...but back in our day, Boy Howdy! was a logo for Creem magazine and was an occasional replacement for the bearded "truckin'" guy on something we called "blotter"

Since I can't link anything, you'll just have to look up those logos for yourself if you are so inclined.

Have a blessed day!
