Did @Dr. Octopus get banned? Haven't seen him in a couple days but have noticed a Green Goblin lurking in a few threads
My friend Doc did get banned - believe or not for a post he literally deleted 10 seconds after he posted it.

This dumb troll that likes to give him a hard time started up again. When Doc reacted replied “why do you have to be such a jackass?”, he thought about it and deleted it, within 10 seconds.

This troll screen-shotted it - made a huge deal and said Doc wasn’t manly enough to keep his post up there - as if Doc is afraid of some dumb Staten Island troll. When he tried to explain he deleted it out of respect to the site owner, this troll didn’t let it go - and Doc just ignored him.

Guess who got suspended though? Guess who didn’t?

My suspension ends tomorrow. I seriously am considering never coming back to this place again - but will probably at least finish this thing off and then disappear for good.
I'm sorry, man. Been there - I got banned in the RIP thread a few years ago for (what I thought) was just an off-the-cuff joke and got banned for a month. Thought about getting out for good as well, but tried to focus on the good stuff - like us music folks - rather than the bad stuff. And basically try to ignore the trolls.

Your friend Doc brings a lot around here (and we need some more Jets fans around here :-)) - so tell him to take some time to think about it and hope that he'll reconsider.

You just have to let it go, and I agree with you 100% that the Staten Island Troll is a jerk. He has always been that way. He seems to have forgotten how kind and generous people on this site were to him when he suffered a tragic loss, and some of those people that helped him out were people he was very unkind to in the past. It should have made his heart grow three sizes like the Grinch's did, but sadly it didn't. Beware of the SIT. 😱

Couldn’t agree more.

I find it ironic that the guy who questioned Doc's manhood ran to the moderators to get him suspended for calling him a jackass. I just don’t get how the moderators can’t use an ounce of logic - no one would have even seen that post, if not for the troll saving it and posting it himself and using it to try and belittle Doc.

Saw this go down pretty much live. Tell Doc not to let dudes like that win -- come back strong and let that dude know, through ongoing presence, that Doc's not going anywhere.

(@timschochet could write The Bible on this kind of stuff)

ironically enough, i were PMng a good buddy of mine, telling him that if i ventured into that thread, it was gonna mean Palookaville for me - straight shot to ban hammer! 🔨

i am trying not to stray ...

chin up, Doc ... but i hear ya 👍

I watched that happen. Tell Doc Oc to use the "ignore" button. I know all of the arguments against it - I have used them all - but it makes life much easier.

Honestly I could not care less about him - ignore solves that. I’m just disillusioned about the moderators - Like I said no one would have even seen that post if he didn’t save it and post it himself - yet I get suspended and he’s allowed to continue in that thread telling people their takes are dumb. He literally posted and called some one’s opinion “dumb” right after I got suspended. It makes zero sense and I’m all about “justice” so it’s hard for me to want to be here. Obviously there’s a reason I come back and it’s most of the people in here.
Just my opinion, but - while the LIT was and will remain an idiot - Doc Oc got a little too hot for this board. I don't think the suspension for DO was out of line, but I think the other person should have been nuked.

Anyway, pass along my best to DO and let's hope he's back soon.

Ignore really is your friend. I even helps to stop seeing "just to spark discussion" threads that clog up half the front page.

You know, stuff like "What's the most correct method for tying shoes - Standard Shoelace Knot, Ian Knot, Bunny Rabbit or "Loop, Swoop and Pull”?"

I've never used the ignore function - I'm pretty good at just tuning things out. My wife can attest to it. :oldunsure:

Been there, man. It's maddening. I just imagine all my posts being read aloud in a Southern white upper middle class church and I've been good since. YMMV.

His alternative consideration is to post only in the music threads and the Jets thread.
This sounds like a good plan. Keep coming to the places that are enjoyable and don't devote any energy to the rest.

Some of you are good at these little games. @Pip's Invitation and @Don Quixote , you can pretend it's a Jeopardy category of "'S' is for song".

Take a solo song from the singer of one of our countdown's artists.
Add an "s" at the beginning of the last word of the title.
Now you have a song in tomorrow's countdown.

The reason I noticed this? Because I was putting together tomorrow's picks and wondered if this were a cover. Ummmmm, it's not, since I totally botched the song name. :bag:

Last night I saw Westerberg's pick, "King of Spain," and I wondered if it was a cover of the Sting song. It was only after I listened (great song, by the way) and then went to look for the Sting song that I realized my error. :lmao:

Pip’s Invitation:

Wishing Well - Free (UK/US/Japan)
(new artist)

Paul Rodgers is one of my favorite singers and some of his best performances are on Free's final album, Heartbreaker. By this point, founding bassist (and Rodgers' main songwriting partner for most of the band's lifespan) Andy Fraser was gone, his place taken by Japanese bassist Testu Yamauchi and American keyboardist John "Rabbit" Bundrick. And guitarist Paul Kossoff's presence was sporadic due to drug problems that would kill him a few years later. Rodgers responded to the chaos with some of his grittiest, most heartwrenching and best songs. My favorite from the record varies depending on what day it is, but for this list I chose its most accessible song, the melodic hard rocker Wishing Well.

King of Pain is a Police song. Your clue was flawed!

The Bleeding Heart Show - The New Pornographers (Canada/US)
(new artist)

This song has vague but very interesting lyrics, that make the song about many possible themes, generally around the idea of a short, intense romance. Then it has one of the catchiest outros of all time. This is the first of three songs in the countdown that remind me of the girl who broke my heart in High School, Mary (who will be mentioned again).

I've always loved this song. The gentle thumping on the piano keys at the beginning lead right into that awesome harmonica, which I am a big fan of. I also love that swinging interplay between the clarinet and harmonica mid-song, and the synthesizers give the song an orchestral feel. The lyrics are ambiguous and somewhat melancholy, but the melody is upbeat and the song just has this feel about it that I love. If I'm driving and getting close to home and this song comes on, or any song I love for that matter, I take the long way home.
