Wells is actually not a good NFL RB. He was in a running back friendly system with the Texans and exactly none of 32 NFL teams have signed him to a contract from the end of last season to the middle of this pre-season.
Apparently I'm wrong, all I know is he was more than serviceable in the few games he started last year when Davis was hurt. Having Kevin F*ing Jones last year made for some desperate times and Wells came thru for me.

He helped me win my dynasty league the last year so this just shows that players can have short term value even though they aren't all that talented - if thrust into the right situation. Stecker bought me some games a couple of years ago...but nobody confuses him with Deuce. The Texans are and have been a solid run blocking team (11th in rushing last year I think). Most people just think the line blows becase all they look at are sack totals. Wells didn't make anything more than what the line gave him.
Junior came out of retirement, maybe Barry Sanders will... well, he would come out of retirement before Wells would be a good fit at RB for the Jets....
