Where will Adrian Peterson (rookie) go in dynasty startup leagues? (1 Viewer)

In the initial draft of a dynasty startup league, where do you think Peterson will be drafted? When you have the rookies thrown in with the vets in one draft, it sure makes it interesting.

0.5 PPR for WR and TE only, start QB, 2RB, 2WR, TE, 1FLEX (WR, TE, RB), K, DEF, standard scoring.

just doesn't happen very often(a draft like you are talking about), but i would think mid to later 2nd. there is a bunch of players i would take before peterson

I've participated in 2 startup dynasty leagues that combined the rookies with the vets in the initial draft, and I'm in another one where we will do that in May.

Of course it would depend of the league starting roster requirements and scoring format. In a Start: QB/RB/RB/WR/WR/WR/TE/K/D league that utilizes a 1 point per reception for RB's/WR's/TE's which is several of the dynasty leagues I play in & the fantasy draft was to take place before the NFL draft I believe he should go around 15th overall.

Here is a list of players I would select before Mr. Peterson pre-nfl draft in the above league format:

RB's:

-LT

-S.Jax

-LJ

-Westbrook

-Portis

-Bush

-Gore

-Parker

-Moroney

-R.Brown

-S.Alexander

WR's:

S.Smith

Fitz

CJ

R.Wayne

Holt

TE's

Gates

QB's

Manning

If you're drafting Peterson that early than you arent playing to win the first year. You're passing up on alot of good players for an unknown. Too risky for me.

Carson Palmer....stud for the next 10 years...where's he?

He'll go in the first round of a start-up dynasty draft. Someone will always take the top rookie of the year in the top 10. (I've done it myself)

Reggie Bush was a top 10 dynasty pick last year.I don't put Adrian Peterson in the same class.

nice thread, lets predict the rest of the top rookies too

my predictions....12 team league

Peterson 2.3

Johnson 2.8

Lynch 3.6

Some people are firm believers in Peterson. They'll buy him in the top 10.The rookie I couldn't live without and bought in the top 10 over-all of a start-up dynasty was Ricky Williams. Worked out well enough for me back then.

If you're intent on going RB, then he becomes a viable pick after the top 6-7 backs are gone. He probably shouldn't be taken ahead of Tomlinson, LJ, Jackson, Gore, Westbrook, and maybe Portis. He shouldn't be taken ahead of Bush in PPR. In non-PPR, it would be a closer call.

I have the 1.01 in a PPR league and I wouldn't trade it for Shaun Alexander, Willie Parker, Joseph Addai, Ronnie Brown, and some of the other backs who will be ranked in the same range. I certainly wouldn't fault anyone for taking Peterson ahead of those guys. There simply aren't a lot of sure things out there.

Calvin Johnson is the more interesting pick in a 0.5 PPR for WRs and TEs only. I think 2.8 is about right, but he could slip to the 3rd if there aren't too many risk takers in the draft.

Yea Ive been in one that did this, and I will be in another that is doing this in may as wellAlso I have the last pick in the first round in a 12 team, and I may take peterson and Calvin Johnson back to back if I think they are the best players available in consideration of dynasty value. Regardless of what their points totals may be in 2007. I put much more value in age and upside in initial dynasty draft's then who will help me win that year
