On these boards over the last few weeks, I've noticed some disagreement over a few RB situations.

Specifically, Detroit's, Atlanta's, and Minnesota's.

DETROIT: Some feel that once Kevin Jones comes back, the job will be his. Others feel they will keep riding Tatum Bell. And others say steer clear as they are likely to simply share without one guy really emerging.

ATLANTA: Same can be said here once Dunn returns. Norwood over Dunn? Dunn over Norwood? Both equally?

MINNESOTA: This one is a little different. The team isn't waiting for one of the RBs to come back from injury - thereby giving time to the other one to secure the job. This one is simply a very talented RB in Peterson who is their future. But at the same time, they have Chester Taylor who was clearly not something to just sneeze at finishing last year with over 1500 combined yards.

What will it be?

In which of these three situations is it LEAST likely that it becomes a RBBC?

And why?

Detroit is a mess. They can't run, so they pass 94% of the time instead.

I'd say Norwood gets a higher percentage of carries than Peterson.

DET but only because Jones is out. FWIW I think Bell will still have help from another RB so it may still be RBBC regardless of whether it's Jones or RB#3.

Detroit: When Kevin Jones is healthy, I have no doubt he starts and gets 70% of the work. Before then, Bell gets 70%, Duckett gets 30%...but the Lions will run less with Bell than they will when KJ plays, because Bell is not a good inside runner. This will not be a RBBC...but the problem is right now we don't know the RBs who will start the season.

Atlanta: A mess. Norwood is drastically overvalued. He is hurt already, he was hurt last year and only had 100 carries. His legs are not thick enough to take the pounding that a starting RB takes. I don't ever see him being more than a 50-50 type RBBC RB

Minnesota: It's just a matter of when, not if, Peterson gets the bulk of the work. He will get the goal line work. Taylor will get 3rd downs.

One man's opinion.

Right off the bat, Detroit won't be a RBBC. Jones may not even come back this year.Atlanta, Norwood should be getting 70% of carries by Week 5 or 6. He is far better than people give him credit for.

Agreed with the post above completely.

If Jones misses time, do you see the Lions using someone like Calhoun as a 3rd down back while Bell is in on 1st and 2nd? They seemed to work Calhoun a lot in the passing game in the game against the Browns with the first teamers, so I wasn't sure if they were going to try to use him in that role or if they were using it purely for evaluation purposes. Bell is not known as a good receiver, so I think it's possible that Bell gets used between the 10s, with Calhoun and Duckett taking the role of third down/goal line. But I don't know enough about the Lions to know if that is a possibility.

Calhoun was not impressive at all in the last game. I think he will be lucky to make the roster, and I can't see him getting any significant playing time if he does.

Bell will be in on passing downs to take advantage of his speed in space. The defense will have to respect his speed, even though he is not a very good receiver.

Norwood got hurt last year only having 100 touches. I doubt he ever carries over 50% of a teams RB touches.
What does 1 year have to do with another?? Does his injury linger into this year??/ I think your talking more about your concern for his durability then facts.. I see Norwood in the best situation to be #1 because of Dunn's age/back..
