Lovie Smith took his team to the Super Bowl a few years ago.

Mike McCarthy has constructed a powerhouse offense and legitimate contender when not decimated by injuries.

Brad Childress had his team one play away from the Super Bowl last year.

Which of these excellent coaches would you want?

Also, is there any division that has a better collection of HC's? Even the guy in Detroit looks like he's putting together a good squad.

 I picked McCarthy. But that's because he's the only one I think is good.Which means, in regards to your second question, I think there are divisions with better HCs, NFC East for example, even with Phillips (who I still would take over Lovie or Childress)

I picked McCarthy. But I would actually say the AFC East has the best group. I want to say the AFC North might soon enough though.

McCarthy is such an idiot. Lovie Smith should be getting the votes but people love the offense McCarthy has put together. I am not as impressed as some. In fact with all the talent they have had on offense it's amazing they haven't done better.

If Smith is fired at the end of the season, he will be hired in nanoseconds as a DC from a number of clubs. He might even get another HC gig immediately.

Okay, the last two comments in the OP are obviously fishing trips, but to answer the question, I'll take Lovie Smith. I wouldn't take Childress if my life depended on it, and Smith has at least gotten his team to the Super Bowl, unlike McCarthy, so I guess I'll take him. But with one caveat: he cannot bring Mike Martz along as his OC. :hophead:

I think its close between Lovie and McCarthy.

Lovie did get to a bowl even with Rex Grossman...so that is commendable...but he just looks lost so many times.

McCarthy's offense does impress at times...but he is also terrible as a play caller and ever sticking to running the football even when its effective. The number of penalties against his teams is also staggering at times.

Chilly? Hah!!!!!!!

I agree that Smith will be hired as a DC right away.
