Which StLouis WR stats better this week? (1 Viewer)

Clayton's coming off a big day, but Robinson scored. Clayton has better chemistry, Robinson know's the playbook better.

None of this matters when Asomugha locks one of them down.

LRob normally lines up on the left side of the formation which is where Nnamdi used to be (I think), but is that still true? Does Nnamdi now shadow the better WR?

Robinson is hurt & will be limited. I still think he has a 50/50 shot to be "the guy", but it won't be until Week 3 if it happens, regardless who covers him.

Dodds' projections have Clayton at WR26 and unfortunately haven't reflected the fact that Nnamdi is now shadowing the opposing #1 this year instead of staying on one side of the field. Clayton's projection is too high IMO. Nnamdi will shut down Clayton and those putting him in starting lineups will be disappointed. I expect only about 2-25-0 out of him.

I don't think Clayton is the #1 receiver on that offense. He may be the best receiver and get the best production... but Robinson is the #1 receiver. Clayton is actually listed as their #3 receiver.

Doesn't matter how they are "listed." Clayton had (EDIT) 16 targets last week, 2nd most in the NFL. He was the most productive WR on the Rams BY FAR. He is the Rams' best WR, and if he wasn't listed as #1 it was only because of his newness on the team. He definitely is the guy Nnamdi will be shadowing. L Robinson isn't even healthy, and the rest of the WRs are nobodies except Amendola, who works out of the slot. Nnamdi won't be covering the slot guy.

Imagine Clayton/Amendola will have 4-5 receptions for modest yardage.

First road game of the Bradford era. Hoping maybe 150-175 yards. No surprise if it's less than that.

As far as Robinson, not expecting much from him. Probably not one of their top 2 WR's right now. And I only expect STL to address WR in the future (to find themselves a legit #1)

Doesn't Oakland play single side coverage with Nnamdi the vast majority of the time? He will probably cause problems for all the receivers and not just one specifically.

From the ESPN AFC West blog, Bill Williamson on Asomugha:

Asomugha on the move: "Lost in a 25-point loss at Tennessee was Oakland star cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha's movement around the field. The Raiders have been toying with the idea and they finally did it last week. Asomugha shifted depending on the situation and even spent a couple of plays at safety. Asomugha said he enjoyed the freedom and is looking forward to doing it the rest of the season. Gary Horton of Scouts Inc. said this tactic will make Asomugha and the Raiders more dangerous. It’s a terrific way of getting more out of the special Asomugha. Expect the Raiders to try to confuse and exploit young St. Louis quarterback Sam Bradford by moving around Asomugha on Sunday."

Maybe we shouldn't be too hasty in assuming Nnamdi will blanket one specific receiver all game long.

This doesn't shock me ... I am honestly surprised they haven't done this sooner.

They used to. That's changed this year, per Nnamdi himself, but you'll have to do your own Googling to verify it. I'm not taking the time to find you the link.

Well in PPR, with Clayton being blanketed by Nmandi and Laurent on one leg, I think Amendola will produce.
So do I. I would expect Clayton to draw a lot of coverage from Nmandi. Bradford barely looked Robinson's way last week despite topping 55 pass attempts. Combine that with Robinson being gimpy and I don't see why the Raiders would worry about him. I expect them to put Nmandi on Clayton, freeing up Amendola to get a ton of targets again working out of the slot. He's their Wes Welker and in PPR leagues I think he's very viable as a WR3 this week.

This from Rotoworld just now:

Laurent Robinson-WR- Rams Sep. 17 - 6:38 pm et

Laurent Robinson (ankle, probable) practiced fully on Friday.

He's good to go for Week 2. Though he's been passed by Mark Clayton as the favorite for receptions in St. Louis, Robinson is still the best bet for long balls. He's hands-off, though, against Nnamdi Asomugha this week.
Some of you know I have major issues with Rotoworld's commentaries, so if you want to believe Asomugha will be covering Robinson just because they say so that's up to you.

haha, I can't tell if you are being rude or informative. I will go with the latter.

Sorry man, didn't mean to seem rude. I just meant the quote from him is out there but I'm too lazy to look for it again. No disrespect meant.

 According to Drinen, Robinson had 9 targets - same as Amendola.

I watched most of the game and it seemed like nobody covered Clayton last week, so Bradford threw it his way. I doubt that continues.

I wouldn't start Robinson this week as it's a bad matchup and he's hurt, but going forward I'd still expect him to be the best receiver on the team.

My mistake. Sorry about that. I watched a lot of the game and other than the TD pass I rarely saw Bradford look in Robinson's direction. I guess it happened all the times I wasn't watching. I still think Clayton is the guy Nmandi will focus on and I still think the play here is Amendola.

I agree with your assessment for this week. Then again I wouldn't really want to start any Rams receivers this week - and I have a couple of them on various rosters. I think the Raider D will be out to make the black hole a nasty place after their miserable showing last week. :blackdot:

Nnamdi played both sides of the field last week and on more than one play even played safety. It's not a Nnamdi Island, as he'll be rotated around and probably not cover any one receiver. It's still man to man with the single deep safety setup, but you have to pick your poison as to which Rams WR you want to start. Someone mentioned Amendola, and I think he's probably a safe bet to get his. I'd sit both of Robinson and Clayton for better options, imo.

Still wouldn't mind hearing more opinions on how the coverage might go toward Clayton and Robinson.

I don't watch enough Raiders football (thank goodness) to know what to expect.

it worked great. the safeties had no idea what they were supposed to be doing.
