Sweet!!......I was contemplating starting a team roster thread when I spotted your place holder.

Looks good so far.

Up to date as of Pictus Cat's pick of Witten at 3.13

I looked for a half-hour this morning for these "errors" and have yet to find any. I figured it happened yesterday while you were out, but don't see anything that did not pass the tests. :thumbdown:You must be saying to not count on the locked list as "locked." Wayne obviously was not locked into Duckboy's team yet.You are human, we understand. At least I do.

Wayne was the one I was referring to. I simply hadn't looked back far enough to see who could steal. The truth is, that that final steal of Wayne was only one pick from being the farthest that anyone can ever reach back (compared to original drafted slot) to nab a player. Even that is only possible with perfectly times steals by other folks literaly setting you up for it.

It's not an excuse, but there was a lot of stuff going on in those two rounds (as there always will be in this format...rounds 1/2/3/4 are tracking nightmares, especially 2/3.)

Although WE seems just like crazy fun, I think it has value because it stresses predicting other owners actions. I find a lot of value in all drafts doing this.

It seems this year owners are fairly sure if they can steal someone. Level 2 is knowing who everyone else can steal. Level 3 is predicting how the draft will evolve with each pick, how that pick leaves which players left to steal with each owner...I barely leave level 1 most times.

8.04 Rivers (9) stole him because QBs are flying off the board and this gave me a shot at three I wanted for my QB1 instead of picking one of two left.

9.13 Smith (9) three's a charm, losing Rogers and Edwards making me hope Smith is the starter.

19.13 Redman (10) Bye week mitigation

20.04 Boller (10) Bye week mitigation

1.13 SJax (5) was luck. I don't like that I had to depend on luck because of my draft spot.

2.04 Maroney (4) lasting was unexpected as he was a WSL 1st rounder.

7.13 Washington (5) nice backup in PPR

10.04 Keith (4) 26 pick lasting, nice upside and should get some resting Addai

14.04 Faulk (4) 26 picks and nobody wanted him in PPR...lot more RB options I guess

3.13 Witten (10) was a little luck too. I thought a Cincy WR would have been too greedy, but maybe not since they were not stolen either.

19.13 Pope (7) seems like a good value and need here

4.04 Jennings (8) made it 26 picks. It's nice to get a near low end WR1 after going TE.

5.13 Coles (5) is a nice addition to stablize my WRs.

6.04 Galloway (10) made it 26 picks. Wow, Jeff must pick the all the winners because nobody seems to like my guys.

13.13 Hester (8) losing Stokley hurt. Hester should get a few TDs in his part time role.

15.13 Obumanu (4) needing some depth, year 2 WR flyer

16.04 Meachem (9) another year 2 WR flyer

12.04 Stephen Gostkowski (4) PK1, bag, I guessed top 5 kicker run a little early, Green Bay and Baltimore DSTs on the board could have caused some steals

11.13 Minnesota DST (8) Wish they were Stokley, but I guess I owed Blue one for SJax.

17.13 New Orleans DST (9) Last D, Stole it. Upgraded corner and should focus on Def in offseason. Def will get to pin its ears back when offense goes off. Cincy D was available for steal, but I planned on NO DST all along. Let rad have 3 Ds.

After 5.13, Not a bad core so far. Two 1st Rd RBs, Two low end 1 & 2 WRs, and a consistent and possible best TE in 2PPR TE.

At Rd 12, Only 3 WRs on my team, but without seeing value and falsely sensing kicker run, I go with slow but sure points there.

After 17.13, looks like my first 1 kicker team ever is possible. 6 WRs with backups consisting of flyers. 2nd QB is boom or bust. Strongest RBs I can remember having though.

I guess this is the start of a bloggish post. I'll probably update as the draft goes on.

I think the steal rule is a little imbalanced and favors the players on the end while hurting players in the middle. It is always fun to draft and this is an "INTERESTING" process, but I wouldn't put much value in the outcome.

That's what we thought last year too, but in the end the teams in the middle were just as good. Being at the end makes it SIMPLER, but not necessarily BETTER. You get a natural lock for one round's pick, but in the next round your pick stays vulnerable for a looooooong time. There is definately an advantage to being on the end, but it isn't as big as you might think. (I had the #1 pick last year.) The guys in the center don't have the natural locks, but they have an easier time ensuring proper round value. As far as "value"...I wouldn't place a great deal of stock in the actual order of selections (RB1, WR7, etc), but it does help with general strategy, and being able to look ahead at what other folks may be wanting. More of a mental flexibility excercise then a "mock draft/ADP" excercise.

:excited: As well as the fact that they have an easier time capitalizing on multiple people's decisions. Hence why Rudy in the dead center can end up with ADP and Fitz after 2 rounds, and have a pretty decent combination of folks to choose to lock on his next one.I do somewhat agree that this takes some emphasis away from reality (how many of us have drafts that you can steal folks from?) but it does give availability of most of the players to a much larger group than if it were a straight-line draft. And I'd be interested in doing a Survivor League style auction in the summer, as availability comes up - still the best way imo to run a "draft" since everyone can take anyone if they can bid it.

The middle picks can increase their odds of getting good players, especially if the top of the round lets good picks fall to the middle assuming a good pick would get stolen. The end picks can have their pick with steals of the round if not too many are taken as makup steal picks to the previous round.

The ends don't have to rely on as much luck.

Glad I could clear this up if that makes sense.

This is my bloggish track of my team. Weeks 4, 5 and 9 will be nail biters.

Jeff Pasquino:

1.04 Ryan Grant, GB, RB15 (VIA STEAL)

2.13 Steve Smith, Car, WR7 (Fresh Pick)

3.04 Tony Romo, QB3 (Fresh Pick)

4.13 Donald Driver, GB, WR28 (REPICK)

5.04 Todd Heap, Bal, TE6 (Fresh Pick)

6.13 Bobby Engram, Sea, WR39 (VIA STEAL)

7.04 Travis Henry, Den, RB33 (Fresh Pick)

8.13 Jeff Garcia, TB, QB22 (REPICK)

9.04 Arnaz Battle, SF, WR53 (Fresh Pick)

10.13 Ahman Green, Hou, RB49 (Fresh Pick)

11.04 San Diego Chargers, DST1 (Fresh Pick)

12.13 Jeff King, Car, TE25 (Fresh Pick)

13.04 Denver Broncos, DST18 (Fresh Pick)

14.13 Antwaan Randle-El, Was, WR75 (Fresh Pick)

15.04 Jason Hanson, Det, PK9 (Fresh Pick)

16.13 Ricky Williams, Mia, RB63 (Fresh Pick)

17.04 Joe Nedney, SF, PK25 (Fresh Pick)

18.13 Matt Forte, ROOK, RB68 (Fresh Pick)

19.04 Terry Glenn, DAL, WR93 (Fresh Pick)

20.13 Drew Stanton, DET, QB42 (Fresh Pick)
Overall, I got oVVned early by several steals. It was rough, but I think the team turned out OK - up until the schedule came out.By position:

QB -

3.04 Tony Romo, QB3 (Fresh Pick) (Bye - 10)

8.13 Jeff Garcia, TB, QB22 (REPICK) (Bye - 10)

20.13 Drew Stanton, DET, QB42 (Fresh Pick) (Bye - 4)
Truly loved the Romo / Garcia combo - until the schedule came out. Ugh. Both QBs not only share a bye, but Week 10??? Assuming I'm still alive, that could end the team right there with no QB and just 7 teams left. Thus, I had to grab the best QB available that might contribute. Enter Drew Stanton - and hope. Having to do this also cost me a late RB or WR pick, but QB scores the most.
RB -

1.04 Ryan Grant, GB, RB15 (VIA STEAL) (Bye - 8)

7.04 Travis Henry, Den, RB33 (Fresh Pick) (Bye - 8)

10.13 Ahman Green, Hou, RB49 (Fresh Pick) (Bye - 8)

16.13 Ricky Williams, Mia, RB63 (Fresh Pick) (Bye - 4)

18.13 Matt Forte, ROOK, RB68 (Fresh Pick) (Bye - ?)

I got a lot of flak for going after ADP, but with Ryan Grant still available and not seeing a major dropoff between getting him or another RB already taken at that point (best one was Gore), I rolled the dice. Didn't pan out, but I liked the gamble. Grant / Henry and an underrated Ahman Green are a nice 3-headed RB team - except for Week 8. Week 8 looks like a major problem this year everywhere. Ricky and the rook better give me something there.

WR -

2.13 Steve Smith, Car, WR7 (Fresh Pick) (Bye - 9)

4.13 Donald Driver, GB, WR28 (REPICK) (Bye - 8)

6.13 Bobby Engram, Sea, WR39 (VIA STEAL) (Bye - 4)

9.04 Arnaz Battle, SF, WR53 (Fresh Pick) (Bye - 9)

14.13 Antwaan Randle-El, Was, WR75 (Fresh Pick) (Bye - 10)

19.04 Terry Glenn, DAL, WR93 (Fresh Pick) (Bye - 10)
Steve Smith is a steal, as I think the Panthers come back strong on offense this year. Driver is also underrated. Engram is the #1 target in Seattle as Branch is likely out all season, IMHO - and if he tries to play he'll be ineffective. Battle is my Martz WR3 :kicksrock: guy. ARE is supposed to be a big feature player in Washington this year, and Glenn is a swing for the fences - just what you want from a late WR pick. If he hits, WR93 will be a huge steal. Weeks 9 and 10 might be worrisome with byes, but what can you do at this point. Would have liked a 7th, but had to take a 3rd QB.
TE -

5.04 Todd Heap, Bal, TE6 (Fresh Pick) (Bye - 10)

12.13 Jeff King, Car, TE25 (Fresh Pick) (Bye - 9)
Great, more bye week issues. I like the talent, but Weeks 9 and 10 are already a problem at WR. Hopefully each scores those weeks that they do play to help me out. Heap's a nice value, even with no McNair.
PK -

15.04 Jason Hanson, Det, PK9 (Fresh Pick) (Bye - 4)

17.04 Joe Nedney, SF, PK25 (Fresh Pick) (Bye - 9)
At least my kickers don't share a bye. Picking one domer and one team on the upswing, and two with safe jobs. Looks like I got some semblance of stability.
D/ST -

11.04 San Diego Chargers, DST1 (Fresh Pick) (Bye - 9)

13.04 Denver Broncos, DST18 (Fresh Pick) (Bye - 8)
Two good defenses and they don't share a bye. Really didn't expect to hang on to the Chargers, but I'll take it. Denver has a nice schedule with KC and OAK twice among other easier teams. Both teams can also score.

Overall, this was a fun draft and definitely a rollercoaster ride. Got sideswiped a bit early and surprised by a few steals (still odd to see Cooley stolen) but overall the team can be competitive, if the byes don't get in the way.

In a 16-teamer, I'd be comfy most weeks starting:

Romo

Grant / RB2BC (Henry/AGreen/Ricky)

SSmith / Driver / WR3BC (ARE/Engram/Battle)

Heap

Good K

Good D

Fun draft guys. Despite my pseudo-anger (I really wasn't, but it was fun to play it up a little), I enjoyed the experience. Was much tougher than last year.

Post one is up to date except for the final pick of the draft.

Check back later though, as I'm going to double check it's accuracy, add the byes, and doa little quick analyses to add to the blog.

Not sureI'll be done all of this today, but I will try! :X

ShadowMaster self analysis

3.05 Carson Palmer, Cin, QB4 - BYE 8 (Fresh Pick)

18.12 Brady Quinn, CLE, QB34 - BYE 5 (Fresh Pick)

19.05 Steve McNair, Bal, QB35 - RETIRED (Fresh Pick)

20.12 Ryan Fitzpatrick, CIN, QB41 - BYE 8 (Fresh Pick)

Great starter, ZERO backup. McNair > Boller was an error as he retires the day we end the draft. I'll play week 8 with no QB.

4.12 Jamal Lewis, Cle, RB20 - BYE 5 (VIA STEAL)

5.05 Lendale White, Ten, RB26 - BYE 6 (Fresh Pick)

8.12 Selvin Young, Den, RB36 - BYE 8 (VIA STEAL)

10.12 Tatum Bell, Det, RB48 - BYE 4 (Fresh Pick)

I like this group, so I went with only 4 bodies here as well. 2 starters on run first teams, with a 3rd starter or solid RBBC back in Young. Bell could start in Detroit, and he'll get some targets eitherway. One area where I don't need to worry about bye week issues. AMAZING!

1.05 Randy Moss, NE, WR1 - BYE 4 (Fresh Pick)

2.12 Wes Welker, NE, WR6 - BYE 4 (Fresh Pick)

6.12 Nate Burleson, Sea, WR40 - BYE 4 (REPICK)

7.05 Patrick Crayton, Dal, WR41 - BYE 10 (Fresh Pick)

14.12 Dennis Northcutt, Jac, WR73 - BYE 7 (Fresh Pick)

15.05 Antonio Chatman, Cin, WR76 - BYE 8 (Fresh Pick)

I like the group as a whole and that let me feel good about having only 6 bodies, but the schedule maker had other ideas. Obviously, I feel NE can continue to put up BIG O production. Burleson will get increased work in Seattle with Branch hurt. Crayton continues to improve (I don't see Glenn back at 100%). Northcutt gets solid targets for a WR5 and Chatman with Henry's WR3 slot is an EXCELLENT WR6. Still, week 4 is a nightmare.

9.05 Eric Johnson, NO, TE16 - BYE 9 (Fresh Pick)

11.05 Randy McMichael, SL, TE21 - BYE 5 (Fresh Pick)

Not bad TE production for 2 middle round picks. MCMIcheal should rebound with the rest of the STL O.

12.12 Pittsburgh Steelers, DST12 - BYE 6 (VIA STEAL)

16.12 Kansas City Chiefs, DST30 - BYE 6 (Fresh Pick)

I like these two aggressive D teams. Scheduler maker slaps me again.

13.05 Adam Vinatieri, Ind, PK2 - BYE 4 (VIA STEAL)

17.05 Olindo Mare, Sea, PK29 - BYE 4 (REPICK)

Solid, but slammed by the scheduler maker - i probably won't last past week 4.

Overall I'm happy with the roster, but I can't feel comfy with no backup QB and these bye week land mines. Week 4 may do me in with no WRs or kickers. Week 6 I get no D. Week 8 I'll have no QB. A nice overall squad, but an extreme longshot to win the whole thing.

Road Warriors:

QB:

3.06 Drew Brees, NO, QB5 BYE - 9 (VIA STEAL)

8.11 Kellen Clemons, NYJ, QB24 BYE - 5 (REPICK)

20.11 Chad Pennington, NYJ, QB40 BYE - 5 (Fresh Pick)

I like this group. Brees should continue to put up top 5 numbers, and covering the NYJ QB spot should provide nice protection.

1.06 Clinton Portis, Was, RB9 BYE - 10 (VIA STEAL)

5.06 Brandon Jacobs, NYG, RB27 BYE - 4 (Fresh Pick)

10.11 Kevin Smith, ROOK, RB47 BYE - ??? (Fresh Pick)

17.06 Chris Henry, Ten, RB65 BYE - 6 (REPICK)

Portis wasn't too bad a RB1 for the format, based on the spot. If Jacobs can stay on the field, this should be an adequate pair. Rolled the dice with Smith as a rookie landing in a good spot, but I have a feeling he'll be productive this year. Henry has a chance to contribute this year, and the lead back in TEN isn't breaking records. Overall OK

2.11 Marquis Colsten, NO, WR12 BYE - 9 (REPICK)

4.11 Roddy White, Atl, WR23 BYE - 7 (Fresh Pick)

7.06 Isaac Bruce, SF, WR42 BYE - 9 (REPICK)

9.06 Shaun McDonald, Det, WR54 BYE - 4 (Fresh Pick)

14.11 Marty Booker, Chi, WR72 BYE - 8 (Fresh Pick)

15.06 James Jones, GB, WR77 BYE - 8 (Fresh Pick)

19.06 Derek Hagan, Mia, WR94 BYE - 4 (Fresh Pick)

I came within 10 minutes of sneaking Fitz through in the 2nd, but Colsten is a solid WR1. No significant bye week issues, the worst is losing Colston and Bruce together week 9, but this group looks to have solid depth and opportunity to be solid, if unspectacular.

6.11 Jeremy Shockey, NYG, TE11 BYE - 4 (Fresh Pick)

12.11 Mercedes Lewis, Jac, TE24 BYE - 7 (Fresh Pick)

Shockey is a risk, but at TE11 in a 16 team was real value. Lewis has potential, but hasn't been utilized heavily in the JAX offense.

16.11 Rob Bironas, Ten, PK14 BYE - 6 (VIA STEAL)

18.11 Jay Feely, MIA, PK30 BYE - 4 (Fresh Pick)

Both have jobs and offenses that don't score TDs. Fine

11.06 New England Patriots, DST2 BYE - 4 (Fresh Pick)

13.06 Tampa Bay Buccaneers, DST19 BYE - 10 (Fresh Pick)

Solid pair.

No real standout groups here, but no glaring weaknesses. This squad should hang around and could take advantage of decent bye week coverage in the later bye weeks to get deep. I don't think it goes all the way, though.

Thanks for a fun draft. Loved the format (says the sole illegal stealer  )

Guys...I have spent a ton of time today breaking this draft down, including a lot of statistical stuff, and individual team ratings. I did this off-line, and blinded myself somewhat when doing team ratings (AND RANKINGS) in an honest attempt to study the effectiveness and fairness of this draft approach. When I unblinded myself, and compared all the data, I had some surprising conclusions.

Alas, it's going to take a day or two more to actually organise all the data and present it in a readable format.

I'll post the blog at the same time....hopefuly some time tomorrow.

Radballs:

1.01 Tom Brady, NE, QB1 (Fresh Pick) (BYE = 4)

7.01 Matt Leinart, Ari, QB18 (VIA STEAL) (BYE = 7)

Great survivor combo, bye’s worked out. Solid no. 1 pick, that wasn’t stollen!

Jeter23:

7.02 David Garrard, Jac, QB13 (Fresh Pick) (BYE = 7)

7.03 Jon Kitna, Det, QB21 (VIA STEAL) (BYE = 4)

Good combo…., if Kitna plays the entire season.

If Stanton isn’t playing week 8 you are golden. A little risky though.

3.04 Tony Romo, Dal, QB3 (Fresh Pick) (BYE = 10)

8.13 Jeff Garcia, TB, QB22 (REPICK) (BYE = 10)

No way that group is "A".

Agreed with Jeff.

I like the group, but just because he has two starting running backs ( and a RB that may or may not see time in the Denver backfield ) I'm failing to see how that's an A group.

If you had SJax's backup I'd like it more.If you can get thru wks 4/5 you might be OK, as long as SJax holds up. He's your key, so getting his backup might have been wise.Sammie Morris may steal from Maroney. Never know in NE.Keith might get cut.I'd put it in the B/B- area. KFaulk is good pickup, but again Wks 4 and 5 will be a worry.

It's an A-B group when you consider that I did not take a back until round 4, I have no bye week issues, and (as things stand today) I have 2 starting backs on run heavy teams with the potential for a 3rd in Young. Bell will start for at least a few in Detroit and will catch if he doesn't.To respond to Rene - While JLew may have a slightly less productive year in 08, I'm not so sure Gore bounces right back to his 06 days. The QB situation hurts him as the D can stack the box. He must learn a new an complicated O, he has a pass happy OC, and he has some competition for touches. As a Pittsburgh native - I HOPE Parker has more than 2 TDs this season. We will see.

Why would that possibly be a factor in grading? I don't care what pick you take any person, I just care about how well I expect the player to perform. The entire point of grading by positions is it gives a clear sense of where (if you got any) value anyway. If your running back was value, then it'll show elsewhere. Having no studs and nearly no depth just doesn't strike me as an A-group.

I had considered it, but when Maroney, Washington, Keith, Faulk did not get stolen, I was set a RB,and then the Byes came out. My QBs had the same bye and not much was left. I spent my late picks to try to cover that considering it my biggest weakness.

Thanks all for the feedback.

Normally I'm NOT in favor of handcuffs in Survivor, but....Your #1 is well above the rest of your guys - Maroney leading your team w/out SJax would be scary.

You had 20 picks, not 18.

Now, if there was a CLEAR backup for him (I think it is 50/50 BLeonard / APittman) I'd say you definitely should have taken him. LT2/Turner was a must draft decision last year. I can't 100% argue with you not taking one, but I'm saying that it might have been good risk mitigation.

B….Week seven byes lowered the grade.
I think you are forgetting the Chris Henry immaturity factor......he won't see the field this year. You might want to edit the grade a tad.

It's an A-B group when you consider that I did not take a back until round 4
Why would that possibly be a factor in grading? I don't care what pick you take any person, I just care about how well I expect the player to perform. The entire point of grading by positions is it gives a clear sense of where (if you got any) value anyway. If your running back was value, then it'll show elsewhere. Having no studs and nearly no depth just doesn't strike me as an A-group.
Says the guys fielding these stiffs in his RB slots? :goodposting: 1.14 Marshawn Lynch, Buf, RB8 (REPICK via steal) (BYE = 6)6.03 Chester Taylor, Min, RB29 (Fresh Pick) (BYE = 8)9.14 Ahmad Bradshaw, NYG, RB39 (VIA STEAL) (BYE = 4)10.03 Felix Jones, ROOK, RB42 (Fresh Pick) (BYE = ?)I have 2 players from round 4+ that will probably match or exceed the production of your 1st round pick. After that you have  what? If any grade needs moved down it might be yours to an F Mr. "I have 1 flippin' full time starter." No wonder your so full of hate.
I'm sorry, did I say anything about my grade needing to be improved? Nice strawman and all, 'cause I'm reasonably sure I didn't. I'm totally fine with having a meh RB core because I tend to think RB is the weakest scoring position in this sort of draft. All I did was explain my ideals behind grading, if anything you seem to be acting more like a #### over something as simple as the difference between a B and an A.
