White Sox 2011 Baseball (1 Viewer)

5-7 on the 9th. :shrug: Sox could literally be 8 or 9 games back at this rate by the time I'm in town next weekend for the Yanks series. :)

 
Not sure what you Suxs fans think, but Jenks at times this year has looked as good as I've ever seen him in the four years I've been watching him as a dynasty owner. Guy was awesome for 3 innings the other night, and he's had some eight pitch 9th innings that were impressive. He has looked shaky and shatty a lot too, but IMO he's been better than he was last year. Fat kid rocked it out tonight, I so badly need saves. :unsure:

Yep - looked good tonight. I think it all depends on how that back feels. If he were to drop 40, it would probably feel a lot better more often.
 
CHICAGO (AP)—The Chicago White Sox have placed relievers Matt Thornton(notes) and J.J. Putz(notes) on the 15-day disabled list, leaving their bullpen a bit short on experience.

They recalled right-hander Lucas Harrell(notes) from Triple-A Charlotte and reinstated lefty Erick Threets(notes) from the disabled list following a rehab assignment with the minor league club before Wednesday’s game against Baltimore.

Thornton, an All-Star, was placed on the DL retroactive to Aug. 18 because of inflammation in his left elbow. He is 3-4 with a 2.66 ERA and leads AL relievers with 66 strikeouts.

Putz, who left Tuesday’s game against the Orioles because of right knee tendinitis, is 6-5 with a 2.68 ERA.

Citing major league sources, mlb.com and Jayson Stark of ESPN are reporting the White Sox have been awarded the waiver claim on Manny Ramirez.

The Dodgers, who have won three in a row to close within five games of the wild-card-leading Giants, have until Tuesday to trade Ramirez, keep him or let the White Sox have him without compensation. Chicago would be responsible for the remaining $4.5 million he is owed in salary this season. The teams will also have to agree on prospects.

That is not a small consideration for the White Sox, who began the season with the seventh largest payroll in the majors at $105.5 million.

The Dodgers say they will wait until after weekend to see if they want to trade Manny or not.

When reporters asked general manager Ken Williams about the club's financial flexibility to add players, he said, "Whenever I've talked to (team chairman) Jerry (Reinsdorf), it's less about money, even though we are stretched right now. We are stretched and quite frankly looking at walkups every day to see exactly what we're going to have available to us. But he certainly hasn't given me any reason to think there are any restrictions right now on dollars."

Ramirez, 38 and approaching free agency, is batting .313 with eight homers, 40 RBI and an OPS of .920 in 64 games. He returned to the lineup last Saturday after missing more than a month with a calf injury.

The White Sox, who have lost six of their last 10 and trail the Twins by 3 1/2 games in the AL Central, have been looking to upgrade at designated hitter, where Mark Kotsay and Andrew Jones have provided limited production.

The Rays and Rangers are believed to have made claims for Ramirez as well.
