Brent Morel will make his first major league start at third base on Thursday afternoon against the Tigers.He'll play third in place of Mark Teahen, who committed two errors in Wednesday's loss. Morel, 23, batted .322/.359/.480 with 10 home runs and 64 RBI between Double-A Birmingham and Triple-A Charlotte this season. He struck as a pinch-hitter in his first major league at-bat on Tuesday.

Yeah this is the first time I've had a kid make the majors. Had a few bounce around the minors or play D-1.I guess Morel hit a dinger the other day.

So who is leaving? Ozzie or Kenny?

I feel Kenny has done a much better job than Ozzie. Many of the team's distractions are Ozzies fault. The lesson''s Ozzie learned will be rewarded elsewhere. His schtick has grown old in Chicago.

Enough of the fishing.This team has petered out now 3 times in the past 5 years. They consistently have had one of the best bullpens the first half of the season, only for it to flame out coming down the stretch.I have an idea. Get rid of Herm Schneider. He's fat. I don't want my trainer, nutritionist, and guy in charge of my team's strength, physical performance and durability to be fat. I get that he is a sacred cow (no pun intended), but he needs to go. Injuries and durability have been a factor with this team's second half struggles a number of times over the past 5 or 6 years.I want Kenny and Ozzie to both stay. We need to make some roster changes. CQ - gone, AJ - gone.F this team, bunch of quitters. It's on to football.
 
Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports that the White Sox and Adam Dunn are near agreement on a four-year, $56 million contract.Dunn's asking price was four years and $60 million, but he probably made a slight concession because of the quality of the White Sox organization and his desire to join an immediate contender. A left-handed batter, he blasted 38 home runs for the Nationals this past season and should do quite well inside the hitting-friendly confines of Chicago's US Cellular Field.

According to Joe Cowley of the Chicago Sun-Times, several White Sox players believe the club is close to re-signing Paul Konerko.The White Sox are also near a deal with free agent Adam Dunn. GM Kenny Williams has a reputation for being aggressive and moving quickly in negotiations, so it's quite possible that both are signed before next week's Winter Meetings. The Diamondbacks and Orioles were also showing interest in Konerko, who batted .312 with 39 home runs this past season in Chicago

Happy for Sox fans as he should be a great signing as long as his OBP last year was a one year slip. As a Cubs fan, I am glad they didn't spend money on Dunn to play 1B.

 
AJ back with the Sox, 2 years, $8 million

With a lineup including Dunn and Konerko. With AJ back and the Starting pitching we have. I'm expecting them to make a big run in 2011.

I wish my Dad forced me to play catcher and bat left handed. Because somehow players that do that, and manage a 300 OBP and don't play truly awful on defense, get 4 million dollars a year.
 
The only reason not to like this move is if you think Mark Kotsay is good at baseball. Even if Konerko goes elsewhere, there are capable players available to approximate the production one would reasonably expect from that position.

Anybody panicking about Dunn’s high strikeout totals is an idiot. K’s are just another out, only mattering with an advanceable runner at second or third with fewer than two outs. You know who else struck out a ton? Some other all-time great sluggers to whom Dunn compares through age 30 via metric models: guys like Reggie Jackson, Harmon Killebrew, Sammy Sosa and Thome. A weighted on-base percentage of .384 for his career ends the discussion.

love how the Sox aggressively lard the payroll even after they picked up the high price tags of Rios, Peavy and Edwin Jackson.

Nobody there will make a beer run, now, when Adam Dunn is batting.

I agree, Dunn will be a monster in that ballpark.
 
Scott Linebrink off the roster

Braves acquired RHP Scott Linebrink and $3.5 million from the White Sox for RHP Kyle Cofield.

Linebrink, 34, registered a 4.40 ERA and 1.33 WHIP over 57 1/3 innings for the White Sox this year, fanning 52 batters while walking only 17. He should find a middle relief role in Atlanta. Cofield is over 10 years younger, but he hasn't exactly torn through the minors and is far from a top prospect. Linebrink was owed $5.5 million, so this was essentially a salary dump.

Not too shabby with Vizquel, Viciedo , Castro loser of 3rd base competition (platoon) and one of the young Of'ers (De Aza, J Danks )earning a backup role.

Could be an improved starting rotation and Bullpen IF Sale is in bullpen.

Still Possible Jenks will be back but I think another team will take the risk on him at more than Kenny will pay.

Buehrle, Danks, Jackson, Floyd, ??? ( Sale ,Peavy, vet or rising kid)

Pena, Santos, Thornton,Sale, One of the young kids, vet arm FA.

I think Williams might keep Bobby around at reduced rate and if he knows he will have to earn a spot higher than 3rd option in the pen. The fat kid hasn't necessarily been earning his keep tha last couple of years. A change of venue might be best for his career to renew his efforts and aggressiveness.

 
I'll just say it once. Onie Guillen is an immature young man who may have cost his father any and all trust with his players for the future. You just can't put garbage like he did on his twitter. That's private team info and then he rattles on about it like some teenager who broke up with a girl/boyfriend. If Ozzie can't keep him quiet, he's going to end up getting fired. You just can't tell all that personal stuff to your kids, especially ones with big mouths.
