White Sox 2011 Baseball (1 Viewer)

right now Santos is the real deal. Has looked extremely comfortable , yet to give up anything. That will be the key, how he comes back after he gets hit a time or two. Overall pitching has looked pretty good of late, biggest issues are below average defense no lead-off man, can't manufacture runs, terrible getting players home from 3rd with less than two outs and are awful on the base paths. Besides those few flaws everything else is good, good enough for 75 wins. Keep hearing once it warms up all will be well.

How is the new closer looking?

He's looked solid overall. He was a little shaky in the save of the last game at Oakland. Luckily he pitched out of it. Last night's save was fantastic.

Picked him up today. Trying to package Heath Bell with something.####### Dunn is killing me..I penciled him in for 40 HRs in that bandbox.

I think they handle the Dodgers this weekend. They miss Kershaw and Billingsly, so that's a good thing

I like the matchups outside of Sunday as Kuroda's a damn good pitcher and the Sox have never seen him before.

Friday - Lily v Humber

Saturday - Garland v Buerhle

Sunday - Kuroda v EJax

They need to take 2 of 3 here and keep momentum going into another grinder of a 10 game trip.

3 @ Texas

4 @ Toronto

3 @ Boston

If they can split those 10, I like their chances of being within a handful of games of 1st at the ASB.

Some of these losses this year have been just painful- a 2-1 count w 2 outs in the 9th and the ball goes out. I guess we better get used to having the maalox close with a one run lead going into the 8th or 9th...

Coming on strong....

Won 12 of 16.

This roadtrip might be the make or break for this team. Like I said before, have to hope they play .500 ball while they're on it.

Juan Pierre's a one man wrecking crew

Rod Barajas exited Sunday's game in the fifth inning with a right wrist injury.Barajas was hurt when Juan Pierre slid home on a sacrifice fly by Paul Konerko. X-rays on his wrist were negative and he's listed as day-to-day. Dioner Navarro replaced him in the field.
Andre Ethier left Sunday's game with injuries to his right elbow, right lower back and left big toe.X-rays on Ethier's toe were negative and he's listed as day-to-day. He was injured crashing into the wall while pursuing a fly ball hit by Juan Pierre. Ethier retrieved the ball and got it back into the infield but immediately crouched down in pain after that. He was replaced in the outfield by Tony Gwynn one batter later. Ethier is batting .307 with four homers and 21 RBI.
and I'll just add that it's nice to see him wrecking the other team for once.

This Alex Rios sucks. This guy should be sweeping peanut shells in the Cell after games. Another great Kenny Willaims stroke of genius...

Beckham just took a nasty hit to the eye it looked like on a throw from CF.

Meanwhile, Rios and Dunn still flat out stink.

It is just mind blowing how this team cannot hit. This team was built to hit the power numbers and they just cannot build any consistency. The trend for the Sox since the WS win has been utter inconsistencies as a team. When they hit- the starting pitching or bullpen fails. When they get solid pitching- they cannot hit a lick. They break out of this funk when they play interleague games. I guess we just need to get back to the WS again as the dominance over the NL has been a bright spot. Now PK is starting to get Dunn and Rios plate habits...

They are pretty inconsistent at times, I can't agrgue that. But look at Rios and Dunn, these guys are the anti-clutch and paid huge bucks to drive in big runs. I have to applaud Ozzie for dropping Dunn to 7th in the order. I hope Dunn stinks bad for another week so he can put Lillibridge in DH. At least he can hit and plays hard.

Today is the first time I've seen Dunn all year. Jesus, did he put on 200 lbs. in the offseason? What a slob.
Yeah, I think I can speak for every Sox fan in this thread who is just about done with Dunn. He's not even hitting the ball hard anymore. Actually he's pretty much not hitting it period. Pretty much a wast of space at this point. Hope I can eat these words later this season.

This team just turned Corey ####### Patterson into the AL Player of the week.

Great job...... 2-5 on the road trip with 3 games v Red Sox left.

Heads better be rolling by ASB

Crazy- the team gets run out of Toronto and then they come back and post a nice win on the Red Sox.

I agree WidBil- Dunn/Rios are all but useless to the offense and maybe Lillibridge can get more at bats.

Jake is looking quite solid. I will gladly eat crow to see him step up and be the on field leader that this team needs.

Rios and Dunn are major liabilities at the point in the season but the season is starting to cook and it is go time now. Maybe these guys need some extended time off?

Get 2 of 3 from the Red Sox and get home and get some revenge on the Tigers and the A's...

just when you want to write them off they pull something like this off and suck you right back in, going to the game Saturday with some highlanders, hope Ozzie brings the A game but with Jackson on the bump don't look too promising.ON a side note I have a small wager that Tribe will be at best 5 over .500 at All Star break, I like my chances. Unless the Sox put something together this is the Tigers year.

That's baseball for ya but they need to take 2 of 3 from Detroit and they have to get the revenge factor going on the A's. That team has been a thorn for the Sox. A sweep today would be a great way to break even on a tough road trip. Nothing like beating the snot out of the Yankees and the Red Sox! We will be facing Verlander in that Detroit series.

I'm with most of you. I have no idea what to make of this team after 2 months.

Got the 5-5 road trip I thought they needed, but I don't even know what to make of that. Team looked ok against Texas and I can handle losing a series to the defending AL champs, like utter crap against Toronto and like world beaters vs the Red Sox.

9 game home stand vs Detroit, Sea, Oak followed by what should be a winnable series in Minnesota. But like usual, god knows what's going to happen up there.

.500 isn't going to cut it over this stretch. Need wins each of these series and come out no worse than 8-4

Detroit Series:

Buehrle v Oliver

E Jax v Verlander

Peavy v Penny

They should win the two Verlander isn't pitching and start off the homestand right.

Yeah great sweep. Frank Thomas had a nice interview on the Score after the game. Another sports team in Chicago that plays up to the solid teams but they stink when it comes to a winnable series. I guess we can just hope to be competitive at this point but crawling back to within 4 games out and .500 or a little better at the ASB would be solid. Looks like decent weather coming up so the ball will be flying. Need the starters to buckle it down...

they're overdue for a good game against Verlander plus EJAX might be a little pumped to pitch against his former team. I agree with this series , though its only June, determines if they contenders or pretenders. Hope Oz keeps lilliebridge in the line up.

Sox are 28-31 and 7 back of the Tribe who are 33-22. I doubt they catch them by the break but it wouldn't shock me it the Sox were only 1-3 games out.

Verlander tomorrow.
