White Sox 2011 Baseball (1 Viewer)

Hope it's a trail of dead on Bill Veeck Drive come October 1st. Ozzie, Kenny, everyone outside of Coop can go die for all I care.
I read some stuff this weekend saying the WS have essentially turned into the Cubs with all of the awful contracts they have for the next few years.Kind of funny but at the same time sort of true?

I'm not down on KW as much as others, i think he has made his fair share of good moves (to go along with the bad) but he is never one to sit on his hands. I can appreciate a GM who goes balls out near the trade deadline. I was hoping he would have blown up this ####show this year, but getting rid of Jackson was a bad move IMO if you were considered neutral/buyer.

I'm kind of sick of Ozzie, I've always given him the benefit of the doubt but his in game decision making this year leaves a lot to be desired. I've never considered him a great manager, but I always thought he was capable of managing his players both in the clubhouse and out on the field.

Should be interesting to see what happens this offseason.
Like I said before, there's a lot of good with what Kenny has done. He's put together one of the better pitching staffs in the AL. Got Konerko to stay, Flowers, De Aza, Lillibridge are all looking like good acquisitions.

But there's plenty of bad too.

Out of 116 AL players with at least 250 PAs, here are some of the White Sox ratings in terms of WAR

Dunn - 116th

Rios - 114th

Pierre - 105th

Morel - 103rd

ooooof

Once I read that Jerry trumped Kenny about canning Walker, I just became resigned to the fact that Kenny's gone. After that reality hit, I realized that I really don't care. Dunn, Rios contracts are going to be, and should be too much for him to survive. If I read that situation wrong, and he's back. I certainly won't be complaining.

But If Ozzie comes out of this season still managing this team, I'll be irate.
I think so. If Jerry is that loyal to the hitting coach, imagine how loyal he's going to be to Kenny. I could see Kenny quitting though.

Maybe they can try playing the most talented over the highest paid. Peavy and Dunn ate up a lot of potential W's. Viciedo needing more seasoning with 1 year left at 3 mil I believe. Umm OK.

They are really trading him?
Joe Cowley of the Chicago Sun-Times reports that Ozzie Guillen is managing his final game with the White Sox on Monday night and is expected to traded to the Marlins. The writing has been on the wall for a few weeks now, but it sounds like Guillen's time in Chicago is finally over. Cowley has been told by multiple sources that the White Sox are in "the final stages" of completing a deal to send him to the Marlins. Guillen entered Monday's action with a 677-617 record (.523) over eight seasons as manager with the White Sox, including a World Series title in 2005. It's not clear who the White Sox would get in return, but it is unlikely to be a player of great significance, such as the rumored deal with Logan Morrison last off season.

On focusing on more years on an extension instead of worrying about the dollar amount: “More years? [Expletive] more years. I want more money. I don’t work here for years. No, I want more money. Years? What, I’m going to die poor with the White Sox? Hell, no. … Life is about money. People don’t believe that. People are happy after they make money.”On admitting that he doesn’t exactly fall in line: “I give them a lot of headaches. I might give them more headaches than satisfaction, I don’t know.”On just walking away from the final year on his contract next season and not managing: “I can’t because I’m not going to have any money to give my kids. I’m not going to walk away like that. … Listen, because I’m Venezuelan I’m not dumb. I know. And because I didn’t have six years of school I’m not dumb. No, I’m not. I’ve been thinking about this.”More on walking away from his final year and not managing in 2012: “I’ve got to talk to my wife and she’s got to cut the shopping process and [son] Ozzie [Jr.’s] got to quit drinking a little bit and [son] Oney will have to go to work a little bit. [son] Ozney’s got to go to public school and hopefully get a scholarship somewhere, a lot of [stuff]. My mom’s got to cut a little bit, my dad’s got to get healthy, my sister’s got to find a rich man. There’s a lot behind the scenes. The captain of my boat, I’ve got to cut that thing down. There’s a lot of things I’ve got to pay. We’ll see what happens, I don’t know yet.”
What a #####. Damn shame this loud mouth ruined what should have been a life time legacy that comes with being the guy that led a Chicago team to a World Series Championship.

The White Sox announced following Monday's game that manager Ozzie Guillen has been released from his contract. This is a little different than what has been reported throughout the night, but the White Sox retain rights to compensation should he accept a managerial position with another major league team in 2012. From all indications, Guillen will be named the new manager of the Marlins. Stay tuned.
Probably the right way to go about this. Once the trade market opens back up (no waivers / etc) they can work on something. Until then, I think they could only acquire someone that's not on the 40 man roster without clearing waivers.

I hope Williams goes also. He has been wayyyy more of a problem these last several years than Ozzie. I know some in the hate Ozzie crowd don't like to hear that.

Good to see Ozzie go out on with a couple f-bombs on live TV. :lmao:

He looked like an idiot a couple weeks ago when he wanted an extension even though he still had a year left on his contract....like he had no idea how horrible the team was doing. The whole ending was bizarre. I don't hold anything against Ozzie though and will probably miss his epic tirades and general hilarity in the years to come.

Kenny mentioned that he has been grooming Ventura for quite some time now and that he was essentially his man when Ozzie started to tip his hat that he might be out.

If this is true, Ventura wasn't going anywhere. Why not give a look to Martienz or Alomar Jr.......why the quick trigger?

Perhaps the WS brain trust feels that they will be into a bit of a rebuilding program in 2012 and 2013 with their money tied into some unproductive players. It will benefit them to use a green manager as a reason for the climb back to the top and for some upcoming "luke warm: seasons. Kenny and Rick will have to work to get production at a lot of positions and it looks like MB has pitched his last game in WS uniform. May see some more dark days coming for a while...
