White Sox 2011 Baseball (3 Viewers)

:goodposting: the one run games sting the most.
Why because the other team is so much better? White Sux are not better than the Tigers even given the obvious flaws in Tiger pitching. This team at best loses in the first round in the playoffs in 4 games. you know it, I know it, everyone knows it.
Come on Dr.D  The Sox bullpen is better and the Sox rotation is better. The only thing you can maybe say is better is the offense.

They rank 3rd in the AL in ERA. The two teams ahead of them won't be making the playoffs (Toronto, Oakland)They rank 4th in the AL in runs scores. Two of the three teams ahead of them won't be making the playoffs (Detroit, Texas)

I think they'll take, and I'll like, their chances against just about anyone
White Sox are better than the Tigers up to this point in the season but they really aren't very good. That's all I'm saying. Tigers have been awful so you might want to gage yourself against the Angels or Rays or Red Sox.

Yeah I agree with that.

They're 3-4 against both the Rays and the Angels. According to the schedules, all 7 games were in Tampa. :goodposting: So I can't help but be happy being 3-4 in their house. They've been fantastic at home all year.

They haven't played the Red Sox yet. got 6 with them during August.

wait....why is everyone raving about Detroit's record over the past 45 days or so?
but they really aren't very good
they have the third best winning percentage in the majors. their defense needs to improve and they need more timely hitting and small ball, but the outside of that they have been looking pretty damn good. Especially in the clutch.

As a Twins fan, I have to say good job by Sox winning two one run games Detroit.

The Sox can go a long way if they sweep the Tigers, and if they can win 3 of 4 from the Twins in the baggie (dome)

Looking forward to Twins vs Sox next week, as a Twins fan we need to play well to make this race continue, or otherwise the Sox will be in firm control heading down the wire.

Let's be honest. If Detroit had won these past two games, they would be one of the hottest teams in MLB and the favorite to win the central. But they didn't

If Detroit won the last two games they would still be 3.5 games back with a lot of pitching questions. The Twins and White Sox don't have the same pitching questions, so I think you might be off base here.

DD don't you think if the Tigers had won the last two games, they would be very active in trading for a starting pitcher and possible setup/relief help.I mean the sticks are in Detroit, and they made deals to win this year, their not missing/needing much to pull this thing off.

I think the point we are trying to make here is that the WS were picked DEAD ####### LAST in their division this year. Right now they are 3.5 games up going into August.Excuse any/all of us for being happy with the outcome to this point. I had them lined at 80-82 wins. They are outperforming EVERYONE'S expectations.

I don't think they have anything to trade but Thames.

Not to question your opinion, but every major publication I saw had the Twins picked to finish last, I saw the Sox close to last, but not in last place. Nice season so far by the Sox by the way.

Somewhere in this forum I said the White Sox would win 86 games before the season started. I still think they'll win 86 games.

Did you rub one out on the sofa to celebrate? You seem like the type. glllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll

Big Games left that make or break the SOX:

7 at Minny in the baggie

3 home TB

7 vs Boston 4 home/3 road

3 home LA

4 at Yankees

If the Sox go 15-9 in these games they win the central IMO.

Congrats..two big wins by the Sox..and two tough losses for the Kitties. The Friday night loss still stings..it set the tone for the series.

The Sox have a good mix of some power and speed and are doing the littles things they need to win.

One question? Why did Arizona ger rid of Quentin??

Classy. How angry will you be today if they get swept?

Big winMinny now 2 1/2 back and keeps Detroit 5 1/2 back. They get a day off tomorrow and then starts the 10 game roader through the AL Central. Det for 3, Minny for 4 and KC for 3. If they can get out that @ .500 or better, it will go a long way to winning the division. The weekend in Detroit shapes up like thisFloyd v RobertsonDanks v Verlander Vazquez v MinerTaking 2 of 3 here is more than realisitic.
 Sure in hell didn't think it would be the Vazquez / Miner matchup they'd lose though.

Good call Limp... Javy is really becoming an issue as the season moves on. He has been struggling big time. I think Hawk mentioned it today, but he was getting behind every hitter 1-0, 2-0 today.

I don't have a real good feeling about the next 4. Sox suck up there and the pitching matchups don't look promising just glancing over them.

Whoops... it is 4-0 Twins.

If the Sox don't get this one, they could be in big trouble. I was really counting on them to take the 1st one.

Went to the gym after that scrub who has never hit a homer in his life hit that 2-run bomb. Looks like it was a pretty good call on my part. :goodposting:

Get'em tomorrow.

Let's just cut to the chase here w the 2008 Chicago White Sox- better year than last year. Certainly a very entertaining year but the bottom line is consistency.

3 position players have been consistently good- Missle, Q and JD. Stop these players you beat the Sox or rather they beat themselves.

There are so many things that look good but there are so many things that look suck-E

I feel the Sox biggest problem is that they have no true lead off man. The year they won , Pods was the man. Thought Owens was going to be the answer going in but don't know what happened. I would like to see Ozzie give Wise a chance and have Swish bat 2 and play first. Paulie at right and you would hate to throw the season trying to right his swing. Everything looks off balanced. Really need the young arms to throw lights out these next 3 games. Buerhle spent too much time looking the runner back last night and it cost him.

Some termed this as Ozzie ball or small ball. This type of play is certainly old school baseball but the 2005 team did the small ball thing and hit the long ball. Now- we pretty much have to rely on the HR. So yes- here is a run down of some of the issues:No true lead off hitterNot stealing basesNot throwing out base stealing players on other teamsRidiculous minor league type of errors (EVERY GAME)Liability at third baseLiability in centerLiability at first baseSpotty starting pitchingSpotty middle reliefHow are we still in first place?Bad division?Solid home and inter-league record?I will take my chances with Wise/Anderson in center, Uribe at third base and whatever you want to do at first base. Bring in speed and open up the offense. Lock down the defense. It is clear that the Sox need to make a move but there is no way to cover up all the holes unless Wise/Anderson/Uribe step it up and they shore up the pitching.
