Who are you giving up to GET Slayton? (1 Viewer)

I'll go first.

In a shallow redraft $$$ league with roster limits, I had Portis, MJD and K-Smith so depth was an issue.

Got Lee Evans on waivers and the Slaton owner had him pegged at RB4, so I got him today 1-for-1.

I don't think I gave up too much for a guy who could end up as a RB2.

But---how much is too much?

If you're buying "high"----and that's relative given the Texans situation---what are you paying--or attempting to pay---

and how high does this guy climb from here out, since he'll have no bye weeks?

I managed to catch Slaton on the waiver wire, but my Shark Move (he said, humbly), was to trade him immediately for Brandon Jacobs, who is on a Bye in Week 4 (my RB depth is good enough to handle that!)

I love the waiver-then-trade move ... I grabbed Mendenhall and intend to extract a #2 WR from the FWP owner!

A lot of people have diff. opinions - but the guy has a favorable situation and seems to have some above average talent. I moved him for Chad Johnson.
Thanks, I saw that thread and didnt want to hijack...but instead come at it from a different angle---the side of someone who wanted to aquire this guy, but--not give up too much in the process. So..this thread is for buyers, and wanne-be's..either getting a pay off or chased off.

Ah, sorry, didn't realize that was the angle. To answer then, maybe if you have player that is sell low, ie: Holmes or Chad, it would be a good move. I think both are overpaying, but if you have the depth and need help at RB it may be worth a shot. Watching those highlights he looked very good. I wonder that if Houston were somehow able to get some balance on offense if he would be the WW player/late round flier of the year - similar to Graham or Grant - it's just as unlikely, IMO.

I gave up Vincent Jackson (SD) for Slaton (Hou) and Young (Den). As one other poster put it, you would think I had a gun.

I think you may be right----it's definitely a gamble, but with a guy like Evans, who frustrates as much as he excites---seemed like the right kind of guy to give up to gamble on a long range payoff this season with Slaton. Agreed he looked good, against a very tough defense. That to me (and being named starter) made him a "buy-in" kind of guy.But yeah, it really depends on where you are deep, and if the other guy is really paying attention to SS potential

(WW) Slaton trade for Jacobs(WW) Mendenhall trade for WR#2hmmm... sounds like you're the ONLY shark in that league

The opposite?
lol :goodposting: Just use the reverse of what people are getting? If someone got Gates, someone gave up Gates.
um yeah----the sharks in the oter thread are getting _____from other sharks?Sorry i didnt simplify it for you, good posting man...I wanted to know what SHARKS in this forum were offering--and perhaps getting--from the non FBG's because they are BUYING. and not the ones SELLING. :goodposting: If you don't get the difference........no harm, simply ignore and move along. Thanks.

Slaton is not very good. You guys should be selling.
I'm not sure I would say he is not very good, but I would definitely be selling.
You don't think he can have a good year? He was downright electric last game. Daniels and AJ are threats so that should take away attention from him and his sched eases up in the next little bit.
I think he can have a decent year, but I think the price you can get for him now exceeds his actual value.

Yeah he sure sucked vs TEN.:thumbdown:He is more than worth a roll, esp if you have some dead weight on the roster or a player you don't expect to do much anyway. He's looked good whenever given a chance and is now the starter.

gave: lendale white (pre-shoulder injury news)

got: steve slaton

the shoulder thing is the icing.
