Who else thinks Moss and Stallwoth will be soft in cold weather? (1 Viewer)

I tried looking up the split stats for these players for their career, but it seems that the Yahoo splits aren't accurate. The games played are way off. If I had to guess, I would say that Moss and Stallwoth haven't done well in cold weather. I'm not sure about Welker. What is Moss' career stats playing the Packers in Green Bay in late Nov and Dec?, not just his stats in Green Bay, because early in the year games there are no different than anywhere else.

Actually, I have thought about that. When the weather gets colder, it will come down to the running game. The Pats running game is good, but not great. I remember Moss running with his hands in his pockets during cold weather games awhile ago.

Well, I know he has at least one TD and moon @ GB. I'll check out the other stats.

I don't know the weather conditions for these games, but Moss in the last month of the year outdoors in cooler climates . . .

98 Wk 15 @ BAL (6-89-1)

98 Wk 17 @ TEN (5-32-1)

99 Wk 14 @ KCC (5-76-1)

99 Wk 16 @ NYG (3-44-0)

01 Wk 16 @ GBP (2-10-0)

01 Wk 17 @ BAL (2-9-0)

02 Wk 14 @ GB (3-25-1)

03 Wk 15 @ CHI (9-93-1)

04 Wk 13 @ CHI (4-31-0)

04 Wk 17 @ WAS (5-66-1)

05 Wk 14 @ NYJ (2-18-0)

05 Wk 16 @ DEN (5-72-0)

06 Wk 14 @ CIN (2-28-0)

I think they will be OK as long and Morris and maroney get/remain healthy. Without a solid running game in the cold weather, Brady will be forced to pass short a lot. My guess is that Moss and Stalllworth are effected more than Welker.

When it's cold, get Moss the ball early and often and he'll be a stud.

Ignore him early and he'll pout on the sidelines with his winter coat on and he won't be a factor.

Wasn't this the same kind of lame data the haters used in the pre-season to make good guys like me think wasn't worth a 3rd round pick?

I know when Brady has to pass they haven't looked too good.

I think they'll be fine and NE won't have to worry about playing the AFC Championship game in cold weather.......it's 70 degrees in the dome @ Indy.
Which brings to mind how clutch Manning/Harrison et al have been in cold weather. : I seem to remember many a snowy day when Peyton played a nice game of catch with Ty Law.

Lots of wishful thinking in here
Well, take yourself down off your high horse for a minute and remember where you are. This is a FF board and my whole intention for coming in here was to seriously think about the fact that Moss may be peaking right now, which gets me into the playoffs but if he stinks up the joint in the playoffs, it's all for nothing. I see week 14-16 are all in Foxboro.

I agree about Welker.using Welker the way they do he is an extension of their running game

Brady has a nice history of throwing successfully a lot dating back to the tuck rule game (50+ attempts).

And if Moss can't catch it, they have Troy Brown returning, Ben Watson and Kevin Faulk to go to...they all have success in the winter months.

To answer your original thought about Moss/Stallworth, it's safe to say they didn't have Brady throwing to them, so one could assume that they will continue their success.

Brady can't throw it and catch it for them. I'm not so sure Moss will be a factor in late December, but then again, maybe he will. I don't know, because I couldn't find the split stats for either where the weather is cold, thus the reason for this thread.

1. I couldn't imagine having to have stallworth as a starter and making it through the playoffs, except in really deep leagues2. Is there any kind of data that would convice you to sit Randy Moss in your playoffs, regardless of the weather? .......I wouldn't think so.

I don't own Moss in any league, so I'll never have to make that decision. However, it would show who either has nuts, or is nuts.

I wonder if there's any data to support this. I mean, doesn't Moss pout regardless of weather if he doesn't get some targets? Also, does anyone know what Moss', Stallworth, and Welker's splits are in cold weather?

One of the last adjectives I would ever use to describe Welker...would be 'soft'.His crossing patterns result in some BIG hits...and he jumps up and runs back to the huddle.

BTW, how was Minnesota Moss on the road in the NFC North? I don't recall the stats, but I don't remember him disappearing in GB and Chicago.

Didn't Moss grow up in West Virginia? Go to Marshall? Live in Minnesota? Now granted, Minny played indoors, but considering he lived there and went through HS and Collete bacll in WV, I don't think cold weather is something to be too concerned about with Moss.

West Virgina isn't exactly a cold weather state for the most part. Also, just because he lived in MN for 6 months out of the year doesn't mean squat about his abilities in the cold. Doesn't anyone know where I can find his cold weather stats? Normally I could get them from yahoo (under split stats), but right now it's not accurate as far as games played. If I recall, Moss hasn't done too well in cold weather.

Average low in Huntington, WV (where Marshall is), is 35 or under from Nov-March.It isnt Minn cold, but it definately gets chilly, fwiw. It ain't florida or cali for sure.

I wonder how they'll do in a full moon or if the stadiums aren't aligned in full fung shuei(sp) fashion?

Keep reaching guys.
