Some people love Tebow and some hate him, and everyone hates Smith. But who has played better this year?

Record Tebow 5-1 Smith 10-2

Passing yards Tebow 1054 Smith 2390

Passing TDs Tebow 10 Smith 15

INTs Tebow 1 Smith 5

Rushing yards Tebow 474 Smith 144

Rushing TDs Tebow 3 Smith 1

Comp. % Tebow 47 Smith 63

Passer rating Tebow 87.9 Smith 94.9

Extrapolate Tebow's numbers...multiply them by 2 (other than compl % and rating).

The answer is obvious. SF would still be 10-2 without Smith...at least 9-3.

The Broncos would be about 1-5 over the past 6 games with Orton or Quinn.

Pretend the 2 teams swapped the 2 of them the day after the draft.

What would the Niner's record be right now?

What would the Bronco's record be right now?

3rd quarter, down 14 vs the Eagles on MNF was the day I turned the corner on Alex Smith. The fans were screaming "We want Carr" and Singletary actually made the sub. On TV Alex Smith pointed to the sideline and looked like he told David Carr to gtfo of the game, despite Singletary's wishes. That showed me the difference between Carr and Smith. I'm a fan of competitive guys like Tebow and Brady so I'm glad to see Smith succeed. Also I remember hearing Harbaugh interviewed Smith before they re-signed him, his reasoning was to find out how bad he wanted it or was he content being just a guy. Sure he notice the same in his character.

For what Tebow and Smith teams have accomplished I must say Tebow. He took over a 1-4 team, dealt with(maybe even exceeded) the hype, is a headache for d-coordinators, and put his team on his back to win games they had no business wining. Stats can be deceiving, the fact that he may get 20+ touchdowns with >5 turnovers to is pretty good after being benched.

Ummm.....Should Terry Donahue figure into this? Because Ken Dorsey was drafted in the 7th round prior to Smith, who won a National Championship with Dennis Erickson, who BTW wanted to draft Stephen Jackson instead of Rashaun Woods. I'm just asking.ETA: you know they are both Urban Meyer QB's, don't you? Who is the more successful QB, given both NCAA and NFL?ETA II : The better speculation is Kaep vs. Tebow. You know, as long as an idea can reach...

Singletary made the switch from JT O'Sullivan to Shaun Hill in a Martz offense. Guess how that worked out.
