Art Shell took issue with quarterback Andrew Walter's criticisms of the struggling offense and appears ready to make a switch back to Aaron Brooks. Walter took shots at coordinator Tom Walsh's offense after Sunday's 17-13 loss to Denver, saying there is not enough "depth" in the playbook, the offense was too predictable, and that the team needed to utilize more quick-developing plays than five- and seven-step drops. That didn't sit well with Shell, who has fiercely defended Walsh all season long from criticisms that he is out of touch after being away from the NFL for more than a decade.
"You have to be accountable for what you do," Shell said Monday. "To start making statements about what's in and what's not in, then you need to take a hard look at what's there. Obviously, I don't want to get into a contest with a young man but for him to come out and say those things, (that's) totally off-base as far as I'm concerned." Shell said Walter's comments wouldn't play into the decision about who would start at quarterback Sunday at Kansas City, but he appears ready to give the job back to Brooks.
"I'm going to take a hard look at it and see where we are with him (Brooks)," Shell said. "He's been throwing the last couple of weeks. I thought last week he threw the ball a whole lot better. I think he's very close. We'll see how he goes."
For his part, Brooks said that he is "available" to start against the Kansas City Chiefs Sunday. "I expect coach (Art Shell) to make the right decision," Brooks said Monday. "I've informed him where I'm at. It will probably be until the middle of the week until they make that decision." Brooks, who was just 6-for-14 for 68 yards before getting hurt, said the problems on the NFL's worst offense are more about execution than play calling. Brooks has made 84 starts in his career and said he believed he gives the team a better chance to win than the inexperienced Walter does. "I think we have a greater chance," Brooks said. "I possess some skills that with my experience gives us a greater chance."
I like peas. The better question is, will the potential qb change make ANY difference to the wr's or the offense as a whole? It's like choosing between peas and asparagus. :X
We're coming up on Week 11 & both Shell & the Bed & Breakfast guy are content to continue running the 7 step QB drop while sending the WR's out on deep routes, despite the O'line operating like a sieve. It's not going to make one iota of difference, who the QB is. Brooks, Walters or Tuisomethingorother will just continue getting sacked. The better question is, will the potential qb change make ANY difference to the wr's or the offense as a whole?

This should be a poll. Peas in macaroni & cheese >>>>> stinky pee.Asparagus >>>> peasPlus it makes your pee smell really foul.I like peas. It's like choosing between peas and asparagus. :X
How about anyone in a start 2QB league? The real question is...who cares?
If you're thinkign of starting either...you got some serious issues on your team.
The only thing to think about is...should you pick up KC D off of waiver wire to feast on them...
I'm benchign San Diego D for that.
Man, I sure hope so. With Portis on IR I'm stuck starting 4 WRs including Moss. I could use some production out of that bum. With Brooks in the game, the "chuck it in Randy's direction" play will happen a lot more.
Many of the sacks Walter took were his own fault. He holds the ball FAR too long, he is indecisive and he has very little mobility. Basically, he's a younger, far less talented Drew Bledsoe. Brooks isn't the best decision-maker in the world either, but at least has the mobility to escape the rush, and he seems like he'd be more willing to chuck it down the field to Randy. Moss owners should be hoping for the switch.I like peas. The better question is, will the potential qb change make ANY difference to the wr's or the offense as a whole? It's like choosing between peas and asparagus. :X
Does it make a difference?Has anyone heard if Brooks is going to start this weekend?
Missed all the sacks Brooks took in his game, huh?In fact, that's why he's missed all this time isn't it? Cause he got injured during one of the 9 sacks he took? Many of the sacks Walter took were his own fault. He holds the ball FAR too long, he is indecisive and he has very little mobility.
