Absolutely. It is odd that you seem to disagree with that.travdogg said:If Brees had 42 TD's instead of 32, would he be a better candidate?
that is such weak sauce really tho....and totally uncool....that line of thinking drives me nuts....Probably the best argument for Brees at this point is if voters feel that he deserves a lifetime achievement award and Mahomes will most likely be an MVP candidate many times in the future.
I like to look at these stats:Depends on what stats you think hold value. Personally, passing yards and TD's aren't stats I think matter outside of fantasy football. Those are volume and play calling based. The stats that matter to me, are completion percentage, passer rating, TD/INT ratio, and yards per attempt. Mahomes wins only 1 of those(YPA) I'm aware that the other 3 are all factored into passer rating, which is probably the most important of the group.

Man, I hate being this guy, because it makes me sound like i hate Mahomes, when I really don't, but I don't think this is accurate at all. Mahomes strength was more about consistency than high-end single game performance. I think 2 wins is about what he deserved, and week 1 wouldn't have been one of those weeks.along the same lines.... Patrick Mahomes only wins AFC offensive player of the week twice (weeks 1 and 2) and then they start realizing they don't want to give it to him almost every week and he doesn't win it again when he had weeks where he dominated whoever they gave it....he probably should have won it AT LEAST 4-5 more times.....not that it really makes a difference, but still similar thought process....
If you take the time to back and look at who won it when he didn’t and compare the stats/impact on the game....you might be right.....it might not be accurate....4-5 might actually be light....Man, I hate being this guy, because it makes me sound like i hate Mahomes, when I really don't, but I don't think this is accurate at all. About 2/3 of the way through the season, I thought Brees had the edge for MVP. At the end I was solidly Mahomes.that is such weak sauce really tho....and totally uncool....that line of thinking drives me nuts....

I'd actually make a case for Tyreek Hill. He had 2/3rds of the teams receiving yards(169) and half the receiving TD's(2) on 8 targets(7 caught) in addition to having a return TD, though that may not count toward offensive stats. Still that big of a % of the production makes me lean toward a WR over his QB.If you take the time to back and look at who won it when he didn’t and compare the stats/impact on the game....you might be right.....it might not be accurate....4-5 might actually be light....
and now I’m curious....who should have got it week one?...
You mean, managing to take a team that was 13-3 in 2017 and go 11-5 with them in 2018?Tom Brady
When the 2018 season is over who accomplished the most, yep......Tom Brady.
How many big games did Patrick Mahomes win?You mean, managing to take a team that was 13-3 in 2017 and go 11-5 with them in 2018?
What an accomplishment.
Whether you think it's ridiculous or not, those are the rules; it's a regular-season award just like all the others. How many big games did Patrick Mahomes win?
Drew Brees watching another SB.
Tom Brady will be the most important player this season, everyone else will be forgotten.
As far as .....only the reg season counts.......that is ridiculous.
The bottom line in every NFL season is winning that SB, stats, reg season wins pale in comparison. When the smoke clears there stands Tom Brady on top the NFL world......again.Whether you think it's ridiculous or not, those are the rules; it's a regular-season award just like all the others.
And when your QB failed to make the top 10 in any QB stat, maybe there's something other than the QB contributing to wins.
No wonder you lose at gambling. The bottom line in every NFL season is winning that SB, stats, reg season wins pale in comparison. When the smoke clears there stands Tom Brady on top the NFL world......again.
When we look back on the 2018season years from now, it will be Tom Brady who stands out, his story will be THE story for 2018.
I don't care about rules. I go with impact.
I don't lose at gambling, been playing with house money for over a decade now.No wonder you lose at gambling.
The MVP has nothing to do with the playoffs. Not only do you start ridiculous threads, your overall posting is ridiculous.I don't lose at gambling, been playing with house money for over a decade now.
I obviously (like others) reject the idea of ignoring the playoffs when it comes to the MVP.
I'm not alone on thinking the MVP should take into account the playoffs. That has been talked about before. The MVP has nothing to do with the playoffs. Not only do you start ridiculous threads, your overall posting is ridiculous.
It's MVP of the regular season. They have an MVP of the playoffs. The Super Bowl MVP.I'm not alone on thinking the MVP should take into account the playoffs. That has been talked about before.
Go tell them it;s ridiculous.

I know, and don't like it.It's MVP of the regular season. They have an MVP of the playoffs. The Super Bowl MVP.
Was Eli the MVP of the season in 2007 and 2011? Was he definitely the MVP of the playoffs? Seems pretty simple.I know, and don't like it.
There has got to be a better way to do this.
Nobody is confused or thinking it's complex, ok?Was Eli the MVP of the season in 2007 and 2011? Was he definitely the MVP of the playoffs? Seems pretty simple.
Dude...please go start another thread about MVP from week one until the SB....until then just bow out of this oneNobody is confused or thinking it's complex, ok?
Simple/hard.......a total non factor.
It's a matter of timing and input.
Dude....Patrick Mahomes ....the 2018 MVP.Dude...please go start another thread about MVP from week one until the SB....until then just bow out of this one
