49ers coach Mike Nolan isn't sure if Frank Gore's ankle will be ready for their Week 10 game on Monday Night Football.

Not an overly optimistic outlook for a Monday, but it's a long way to go until gametime. As the 49ers season falls apart, they may be extra careful with Gore. Michael Robinson would likely start for Gore again, with Maurice Hicks picking up plenty of work.

Michael Robinson started in place of Frank Gore in Week 9 and rushed 17 times for 67 yards. He added two catches for two yards.

Robinson fared well in blitz pickup, but started slow from a production standpoint and lost a red-zone carry to Maurice Hicks, who took it in from nine yards out. Robinson remains the favorite for touches in San Francisco's backfield if Gore's ankle continues to bother him. He would be worth a flex play in Week 10 vs. Seattle if Gore it out.

With Frank Gore inactive in Week 9, Maurice Hicks rushed seven times for 49 yards and a touchdown. He also caught one pass for three yards.

Hicks showed more explosiveness in spurts than Michael Robinson, but Robinson dominated the carries and started the game. Still, if Gore is out in Week 10, Hicks may have earned a bigger role. His TD came from nine yards out, so he's not necessarily the favorite for goal-line carries in Gore's absence.

yea probably RBBC but if I remember from last season they gave Robinson the goalline duties when needed. Hicks scored his TD from 9 yards out so im not sure who would be getting the goalline. Although I dont think San Fran can even get to the goal line.

As a gore Owner, I'd be looking elsewhere.. Like last week,it will likely be pure RBBC again if he's out... neither one seems suited to carry a full load
