Who is this Year's Cleveland Browns? (1 Viewer)

While it's nice to look back on the Browns from last season in hindsight and say that they had a lot of weapons, the reality is that they very much came out of nowhere as an offensive force.

This time last year, there were real questions about Jamal Lewis, the OLine was considered as average at best, no one had heard of Derrick Anderson, and Braylon Edwards remained a question mark.

Curious which team (or teams) people think are positioned to do the same this season?

The Minnesota Vikings.

- Jackson is better than people are giving him credit for.

- Shiancoe has looked much, much better this year.

- The addition of Berrian.

- Sidney Rice is Chris Carter-light.

You mean the next 3rd-tier team to have outstanding offensive stats that fails to make the playoffs?
Yes, that's precisely what I mean. Couldn't care less about team records.Looking for a previously average offensive team that is poised to blow up this season. Last year it was the Browns. Who is it this season?

Buffalo Bills

- new faster paced offensive system

- Edwards more comfortable in his second year

- James Hardy

- Pretty easy schedule (NFC WEST)

I don't think they'll be Clevland Browns 2007 good...but much better fantasy production in that offense this year

Here's a couple options:

Buffalo

San Francisco (Martz!)

Minnesota (although with AD and that O-line I don't think they qualify)

:lmao: Beat me to it. Improved line, QB in his 2nd year, play making WR, new WR brought in to help relieve pressure on star WR, under rated TE, quality RB, new scheme. Wasn't able to get Marshawn Lynch anywhere this year but Evans and Edwards? You bet.

No team will make a transformation like Clev had last year. Clev was the 31st ranked offense in 2006 and finished 8th in 2007. That's a rather remarkable turnaround.

I think the team that will come closest is the Carolina Panthers. This team was ranked 29th offensively last year. This year they have an improved Oline, their starting QB back and better RB play (regardless of who leads the RBBC).

Which Team Has an Unexpected Offensive Turnaround

FTR: the BILLS are expected to be improved.
Then why aren't many talking about them improving overall? They've been near 500 the last couple years, if their offense is improved (their defense is already pretty good) shouldn't they be in the playoff discussion? I thought I was the minority here, I expect them to have a better end of season record than the Jets.

Didn't realize their numbers were so low in 07, they'd certainly qualify. I'm expecting big things from Carolina's offense this year.

What?I see people routinely pegging them as a borderline playoff team.

But as you are leading to... it wouldn't be a surprise. The surprise was how bad they finished last year in the rankings. *Carr effect.

Guess I haven't been reading the same things as you, I thought the circus around the Jets had more or less drowned out the Bills - who I expect to be a wildcard team.

No denying the circus getting the headlines and media lovin'.

You guys are forgetting the most obvioous pick of all, the dolphins!

Their record last year was deceiving in that they had a lot of losses, but 8 of their losses were by 10 points or less.

With the addition of Pennington, Parcells and Sparano this team can only get better.

I've got them at 8 to 9 wins this year, just missing the playoffs if Pennington can stay healthy.

P.S. I'm not a Miami fan!

Detroit Lions
im gonna say the ravens. flaco is gonna come out swinging. mcgahee is gonna do big things this year. reminds me of the browns. 3 quarterbacks competing for the job. one comes out and just takes the job by storm. i would have said the chiefs but herm insists on this power running game.

49ers - having a feature back like Gore in the Martz system is essential for all other parts to function. Bruce will catch 90+

what about St Louis? I'd give them an outside chanse, they have a lot of talent at the skilled positions and if their O line can make a decent sized improvement they could be dangerous.

Well, let's look at what Cleveland did:

1. They took a stud at offensive line in their draft

2. They found a new QB to lead their team

3. Found a TE and a WR developed

Does anyone fit any of those categories? Let's take a look at Miami:

1. They took a stud at offensive line in their draft

2. They found a veteran QB that can lead their team

3. Got Fasano at TE and Ginn is many sleeper lists

While that is true, Miami lacks an elite WR like Edwards and an elite TE like Winslow.

I agree and I don't think either Ginn and certainly Fasano will be elite but I know Edwards before last year wasn't considered elite and Winslow had elite potential but hasn't really shown it before last year.I'm just trying to find this year's Cleveland......

How can any team aside from SF be the choice?? They were THE worst offense in the league last year. Martz, a guy known for getting very good offensive production out of his players is now this teams offensive coordinator.

He has Frank Gore - one of the better running backs in the league. His qb is a nobody but Martz has turned nobodies into quality qb's before...and who was Anderson going into last season?

This offense at worst will be a mediocre one this season.

I agree with the Houston choice above.

If Schaub and Johnson stay healthy, that O should be very good.

Plus Alex Gibbs is the new OL/Asst HC. He has turned nobodies into a tight knit cohesive unit everywhere. Does anyone remember the job he did in Atlanta? He turned a 6th round pick in Terrel Davis into a star. He was one of the most important offseason acquisitions in the league.

The Minnesota Vikings.

- Jackson is better than people are giving him credit for.

- Shiancoe has looked much, much better this year.

- The addition of Berrian.

- Sidney Rice is Chris Carter-light.
:X Because of him, no pass catcher will be startable on this team. The good news is, they have two startable RB's.

This thinking is going to cost people in fantasy circles this year!

Ravens. Troy Smith can keep some plays alive with his feet, has two vet security blankets in Mason and heap, and a solid running game.

Detroit Lions

their line is injured.i'm gonna say Miamii would also agree with Atlanta

Lots of solid teams mentioned so far.

My pick is Miami.... R. Williams, Ginn, Fasano are the 3 I think will particulary benefit for FF purposes.
