Who is this year's Ray Rice? (1 Viewer)

Hmmmm.....interesting but not sure how he fits the mold other than maybe Ray Rice-esque talent. But not sure the similarities in situation are there. Rice wasn't a rookie. Best doesn't necessarily have a GL vulture. DET is obviously a much, much, much worse team than BAL.

But I do like Best.
For Fantasy purposes, the ONLY criteria I need to call someone "this year's Rice" would be an running back with an ADP in Round 4 or lower who might put up Top 5 FF points this year. I viewed the question as "Who will be this year's late-round RB gem?". You can try to match his real world situation, and that does factor in when projecting points, but at the end of the day the only thing I care about is who I can get in Round 5 that will perform at Round 1 level. That could even be Ricky Williams.

Jonathan Stewart? Absolute beast. Injury to D. Williams and he is top 5 no doubt.
He is an absolute beat and I'm hoping to draft him but there's a strong likely hood that Jonathan Stewart 2010 will just be Jonathan Stewart 2009 i.e.) only valuable for the few games DWill misses (assuming he misses any). And FWIW, I think DWill is underrated. Right now, I have him ranked 6th. I pretty much have Gore and SJax off my board due - I'm just not comfortable with their injury risk.I have it....CJADRiceMJDGreeneDWillTurnerCharlesSJax and Gore I'll let someone else draft. Mendy too - hate their OL and don't like the karma of a team with a raper QB (allegedly).JMHO
rapist. English language is in some serious trouble

This is the way I read this question as well. Totally dissimilar backs, but under this criteria, I'm going to say the best bets this year are 1. Arian Foster

2. Ricky Williams (requires Brown injury)

3. Jerome Harrison

I think all of these are a huge stretch. Ricky has a shot to break into top ten but not top five. Foster will probably start the season but not finish as no. 1.

If you're looking for a back that is actually similar to Rice, it has to be Charles.

Rashad Jennings too if Jones Drew gets hurt.

I thought it could be Chester Taylor (playing the Marshall Faulk PPR role)under Martz but Forte has been practicing better so far.

Pierre Thomas - Lionel Hamilton is no Mike Bell

Michael Bush - McHamstring is already tweeked

Chester Taylor - Forte owners look out

McFadden practiced yesterday with the 1s. Don't post misleading info please. Also Rice's situation last year did not require an injury to another player so I think all such scenarios are disqualified from the comparison. Therefore I withdraw Ricky even though I see Brown actually finishing the year as far less likely than him missing 5+ games.

So my two are Foster (RB48 ADP 128) and Harrison (RB31 ADP 76). Both of these guys can be had cheap as RB3-4 and present significant upside.

Not trying to misinform. He tweaked his hammy last week in practice. May be nothing serious or it may be another in a long line of injuries for DMC. Look at my avatar... I love the guy, but he's been far from durable so far in the NFL.I hear every year that you shouldn't predict injuries when evaluating players or their counterparts this time of year and I couldn't disagree more. Some guys just have a higher likelihood than others IMO (see Ronnie Brown, Donovan McNabb) and I think DMC fits that bill too. That was the main point of that comment, tho I see how it could have been misconstrued.

Looks like McHammy is now going to miss the first preseason game due to the "tweak."Feel free to apologize at any time for accusing me of misinformation. Just kidding, lol! I forgave you a long time ago, bro.Mike Bush = fantasy value this year.

Raper - someone who forces another to have sexual intercourse, synonym for rapist. The English language is indeed in serious trouble but not because of me.

Interesting that you mention Ricky Williams b/c I think it's Ronnie Brown who could be getting over looked here for the "next Ray Rice". Ronnie always seems to be putting up top 5 RB stats until he gets hurt. If Ronnie stays healthy all season - a big IF - then he could be a guy who you can get in round 4 and who could produce to 5 stats.
