Interesting that in the NFC, there are three or four other guys you could make strong arguments for (Colston, Cruz, Bryant and maybe Julio), while in the AFC, it is those four and Welker, and then the dropoff is severe.

Agree with both of your lists.

The only one I'd consider switching out is possibly Dez Bryant for VJax in the NFC, but that's based on his late season surge. He's been fairly consistent for a while now though. Colston is a solid option, but I don't think he's at the Pro Bowl level. Julio has been way too inconsistent for me to consider him.

Harvin would be a lock if he didn't get hurt. Cruz would also be a lock if he hadn't had his late season slow down.

Wow, imagine if Harvin didn't get hurt. The NFC North would've had 3 pro bowl WRs and none of them would've been from the Packers(who, along with Atlanta, have a claim as the best WR core in the NFC).

Good lists but I think Welker has to be on there. This could be his 4th season leading the NFL in receptions, and a record 5th over 100 catches.

Andre has the fewest catches and TDs of the 8, so leave him home for the 2nd straight season.

Eh, I disagree. Neither has a lot of scores this year (Aj 3, Welker 4), but Aj has a far better YPC and more receiving yards, and that despite being on a run-first team. Plus, when you look at value to an offense, AJ is far more valuable to the Texans offense than Welker is to the Patriots offense.

I'd say outside of Calvin and aj green no wr is more important to his team than welker. He creates most of their passing game.

Couldn't disagree more. He's easily replaceable...most of his production is due to the system and who is throwing him the ball.A healthy Edelman could easily take his place and produce 95% as well. I could name 15 WR's with more talent.Don't forget he was benched for a short time before Hernandez was injured and he was forced back into the starting lineup.

I agree about Welker. Great in the NE system but don`t see him putting up anywhere near those numbers on another team. The thing is NE feels the same way and that is why they did not extend his deal.

Welker over Andre Johnson is an easy call.

Johnson's numbers are largely the result of two monster games against terrible defenses (Jax, Det). Welker has put up better numbers than Johnson against common opponents (Mia, NYJ, Buf, Bal, Den, Mia, Ten) as well as good games against Seattle and Arizona.

XWithout tom Brady wes welker is Danny ammendola.
I don't believe important is the right word, I do agree with Hipple - I don't believe Welker is guaranteed to get 100/1000 on any other team like he is in NE. I think Welker is more valuable to the Pats than he is to any other team, to date no one has understood the Pats system as much as Welker (except Brady). Also this garbage that is repeated ad nauseum about Edelman has to stop at some point. Its worse than comparing Cassel to Brady.
