While I agree with you that Young isn't ready right now, I will say that a "not ready" Young is probably more productive in terms of points than some veterans who are considered polished.Collins is a steady veteran to guide the offense until Young takes over, whenever that may be. He should start for now.Kerry Collins.Volek is HORRIBLE.Young isnt ready.
Yesterday's news...No Steve McNair option?
Compared to the child rapist in the backfield, this is a minor offense. If you want to win more than games this year: Voleck
If you want to play for next year: Young
If you want to play a racist drunk: Collins
Volek, career: 60.3% completions, 26 TD, 13 INT, 6.8 ypa.Collins, career: 55.6% completions, 173 TD, 166 INT, 6.6 ypa.Collins is known to be extremely mediocre. Volek has been better than mediocre in his work for the Titans so far.I dont understand how so many people voted for Volek over Collins. Collins is simply a a superior quarterback. I dont even think its in question who's better.
Shocking. :sarcasm;Titans | Young apparently injured Friday Published Fri Sep 1 8:27:00 p.m. ET 2006 (KFFL) Chris Jenkins, of the Associated Press, reports Tennessee Titans rookie QB Vince Young (knee) apparently suffered a knee injury during the second half of the team's preseason finale Friday, Sept. 1. Team doctors appeared to be examining his knee on the sideline in the fourth quarter.
I've never heard Collins being called just mediocre. Not Brett Favre by any means, but not mediocre either. And Collins has seen soo much more time that Volek. Volek never got the chance to really be mediocre.Volek, career: 60.3% completions, 26 TD, 13 INT, 6.8 ypa.Collins, career: 55.6% completions, 173 TD, 166 INT, 6.6 ypa.Collins is known to be extremely mediocre. What would you call a QB that has completed only 55% of his passes and barely more TDs than INTs? Who has never thrown more than 22 TDs in a 12-season career? And is 11-30 in the past three years? I call him mediocre, but these days that might be too generous.I've never heard Collins being called just mediocre. Not Brett Favre by any means, but not mediocre either. But if he played for Jeff Tedford you would think he was the second coming of Joe Montana.Volek, career: 60.3% completions, 26 TD, 13 INT, 6.8 ypa.Collins, career: 55.6% completions, 173 TD, 166 INT, 6.6 ypa.Collins is known to be extremely mediocre. Please. No one is more realistic than I about the prospects of Cal players; you certainly don't see me crowing about how Rodgers will be the next Favre in Green Bay.I did vociferously say that it would be stupid for the Ravens to bring in Collins, because Boller is at least as good as Collins at this point in their respective careers, and Boller is getting better and Collins is declining. And apparently the Ravens felt the same way. I didn't have the same objection to them bringing in McNair, who is a known difference-maker. I wish they hadn't done it, because I do root for Cal players in the NFL, but I can't fault them for it.But if he played for Jeff Tedford you would think he was the second coming of Joe Montana.Collins is known to be extremely mediocre. That was mostly tongue in cheek, but I think you're one of the best posters here and I hate when you go off on a player because it sounds like you have a personal problem with them and that makes me trust your opinion less.Please. I don't have any personal problem with Collins; I just can't stand to see the same incorrect things said over and over about him. There's absolutely no evidence that he's better than mediocre, yet people keep taking about him like he can come in and be a franchise savior, despite failing miserably doing exactly that for the past two years. He could be a servicable backup, but if you trot him out there as a starter you've already given up.That was mostly tongue in cheek, but I think you're one of the best posters here and I hate when you go off on a player because it sounds like you have a personal problem with them and that makes me trust your opinion less.
Ehhh...I think he's somewhere between franchise savior and servicable backup. As others have pointed out, NFL value and fantasy value are quite different with him, similar to Aaron Brooks or (opposite way) Troy Aikman. I like him as a mid-pack QB2 this year.I don't have any personal problem with Collins; I just can't stand to see the same incorrect things said over and over about him. But this thread is about who should start, not who would put up the best fantasy numbers. If Collins starts for the Titans, they will lose 10+ games again and have nothing to show for it but another high draft pick.Ehhh...I think he's somewhere between franchise savior and servicable backup. I really hope you're right, but I highly doubt it. Collins didn't exactly help Oakland last year, although the Titans defense is better.Collins will help TN finish 9-7 in one of the big surprises of 2006.

GREEN BAY, Wis. (Sept. 1, 2006) -- A sure sign of poise from a rookie quarterback: Vince Young even lobbies for instant-replay calls like a veteran.
Young was impressive in his first preseason start for the Tennessee Titans, consistently turning third downs into first downs in a 35-21 victory over the Green Bay Packers on Friday afternoon.
Young's lone touchdown pass came on a successful replay challenge by the Titans in the first quarter, but Young had an apparent touchdown called back on a replay challenge by the Packers in the third quarter.
"That was a touchdown as well," Young said. "They just robbed me."
Young played the Titans' first three series and returned for much of the third quarter of the two teams' preseason finale, completing 8-of-17 passes for 80 yards and a touchdown.
"I pretty much knew that I was going to feel a little more comfortable this week as well," Young said. "So I wanted to keep the chains moving on third down, and (score) when I'm in the ball game."
And move the chains he did. The third overall pick in the draft went 5-for-6 on third down for four first-down conversions and a 16-yard touchdown pass to Bobby Wade in the first quarter.
"We weren't especially productive on third down the last few weeks, and it was an emphasis this week," Titans coach Jeff Fisher said.

VeryCollins until the team is 3 games under .500. THen, put Vince in.So, 0-3 means Vince. 2-5 means Vince. 6-9 means Vince and so on and so forth.Colin
LOL.VeryCollins until the team is 3 games under .500. THen, put Vince in.So, 0-3 means Vince. 2-5 means Vince. 6-9 means Vince and so on and so forth.ColinAs much as I'm not sold on Young as a real QB (at least not for several years until he learns how to play the position on at least an advanced college offense level that would translate to an NFL style of offense) the Titans made the pick and are now married for better or worse with Young. I think they ought to put Volek on the market and get a draft pick package for him. This team still has some serious rebuilding to do and I'm all for starting the rookie and taking the lumps and losses early, it'll only help the Titans next year A) when they get higher draft picks and B) Young has had more snaps. However, I'd have Chow and his QB coach EMPHASIZE how to play QB and insist he plays like one rather than some HB option guy who takes off running when his first receiver is covered. I'm even for limiting to one to three series where he has scripted plays he is ver familiar with so we see him develop better fundamentals than the paltry level we've seen Mike Vick progress / regress to.
True. I still think he is better than Volek, but you have a point that we are not discussing fantasy in this thread. But this thread is about who should start, not who would put up the best fantasy numbers.
