one of the safeties they signed was arrested not too too long ago.Greg Ellis is supposedly gone so some whining should be gone with it.I think change is in the air but I don't think Jerry Jones is only going to sign choir boys from now on.It doesn't seem like Matt did all that much here. Last year he was finally developing into the WR many hoped he'd be so IMO he should go back to being considered as such and not being considered someone like young Chris Henry or Pacman. Matt's taken alot of heat, more than he deserved IMO.I think the Dallas / Jerry Jones / Arkansas connection is being overplayed. I really think they are trying to avoid, at least for the time being, adding guys with drug / legal / personality issues because of the headaches that came with PacMan, T.O., etc., are trying to solidify the leadership in the locker room, and I think they'll pass on Matt Jones.
I think he'd be phenomenal there and if so I'd bet $ he plays some QB even if it's just on a gimmick play. Payton is way too crafty(or prides himself on being way too crafty) for that not to happen at least on an occasion. Too bad FAs never seek the Pool's advice before signing with teams thoughWith Colston, Bush and Moore coming off surgery, I think New Orleans can be mentioned. Devery Henderson and Robert Mechum can not fit the Colston mold like Jones can if Colston misses time because of his knee injury.
It looks like too many WRs for N.O., even if they are coming back from injuries. With Colston, Bush and Moore coming off surgery, I think New Orleans can be mentioned. Devery Henderson and Robert Mechum can not fit the Colston mold like Jones can if Colston misses time because of his knee injury.
Looks like a 2 horse race, Dallas and Chicago.I still think the Bears are the better fit.... need vs opportunity.Ron_Mexico said:Vote Early..... Vote Often..
Probably true but with JJ behind the wheel, how do you KNOW ?It WON'T be Dallas that's all I know.
I have a pretty good track record on this sort of stuff (Although not 100 % perfect either) when I make these kind of statements.-Every move the Cowboys have made in the off season is related to character.-The Cowboys in the past few years haven't drafted players with any history of drugs.-Jerry Jones has said that the club believes in Miles Austin and they will give him every opportunity to succeed.-Not that Matt Jones will get a huge contract, but the Cowboys aren't really in a position to do much. They are likely to get Ware done around training camp time and that will take most (not all) of this year's remaining Cap. -I guess I am also of the opinion that Jones is not a good fit with what Dallas does offensively and the routes they tend to run.Probably true but with JJ behind the wheel, how do you KNOW ?It WON'T be Dallas that's all I know.
Jones would be #1 with the Boys , Williams is totally worthless .Cool thanks, I was thinking that Jones could be solid opposite Williams though. It did seem like he was turning a corner for a little while last season.
With the way these guys allegedly like to party, I guess they would be great complements to each other. Actually, I think Jones could be a good pick up for some team. He was an adequate receiver whose numbers increased each year - and he never played WR before the pros. Also, hE could run the ball pretty well as a QB at Arkansas. I could envision a creative coordinator using him in a modified wildcat.I'll go on record to predict... DA BEARS
I think Matt Jones would be a great complement to Cutler right now.Looking at the other options at WR in Chicago, I think
the fit would be good for both the Bears and Jones.
2nd option - RAMS
+1Gut feeling-Ravens
I just threw up in my mouth a little bit.Matt Jones - WR - JAC - May. 27 - 6:56 pm et
Bears GM Jerry Angelo was noncommittal Wednesday when asked if the team would have interest in free agent Matt Jones.
"He was a first-round draft pick and he is a very talented player," Angelo said, "but it's case by case. We're not quick to move on any player." Jones' vertical skills would suit Jay Cutler's big arm, but the Chicago Tribune believes Angelo is satisfied with Devin Hester, Earl Bennett, and Rashied Davis. May. 27 - 6:56 pm et

What kind of routes do the Cowboys like to run that doesn't fit Jones?I have a pretty good track record on this sort of stuff (Although not 100 % perfect either) when I make these kind of statements.-Every move the Cowboys have made in the off season is related to character.Probably true but with JJ behind the wheel, how do you KNOW ?It WON'T be Dallas that's all I know.

Big time.I think the Dallas / Jerry Jones / Arkansas connection is being overplayed.
I agree with this, but I thought by now there would be multiple teams vying for his services.Big time.I think the Dallas / Jerry Jones / Arkansas connection is being overplayed.
Otis Nixon runs the Raiders now???I didn't read through the thread until after I voted. Initially I thought of the Cowboys right away, but then I voted Raiders. The Crypt Keeper will find room for him and will pay him handsomely too.
That would pretty much kill his value.I didn't read through the thread until after I voted. Initially I thought of the Cowboys right away, but then I voted Raiders. The Crypt Keeper will find room for him and will pay him handsomely too.
2008Wk 1-4: 6/80, 5/50, 4/32, 5/71/TD...that is pretty solid WR3 numbers in a PPR league. Wk 6-10: 7/69, 8/117/TD, 7/69, 5/62...wk13 8/104Played in a total of 12 games and racked 64 catches...that's over 5 a game. He has shown plenty playing for a conservative offense. I think there are several teams including the one we both are fans of that he could step right in and start at one of the 2 positions. He is 26, been in the league 4 years, former 1st rounder, can play a few positions as he was a QB in college. 6-6, 235lbs, guy is a beast as far as size is concerned, have no idea why Miami won't bring him in and take a look at him. He certainly could create headaches in the wildcat with Pat White lined up 1 side, Tedd Ginn somewhere on the other side and Ronnie Brown takign direct snaps. You would have White and Jones both former QB with the ability to huck it downfield to Ginn if need be...would be fun to watch. Can he be "invited to camp" or does he have to be signed to step on a field? I'm guessing the latter and that he wouldn't want to risk injury without some kind of deal. But there comes a point where you have to suck it up and show what your worth before a team is willing to take a chance.
I'm really shocked that he wasn't snapped up immediatelyafter Goodell announced there would be no suspension.I think there's a decent chance he doesn't play again.
seems like he would be an immediate upgrade among the starters for the Bears, Jets, and Cowboys. he has to be worth the league minimum to see if he comes in and works hard. not sure i understand it, plenty of NFL players have been known to do blowRon_Mexico said:I'm really shocked that he wasn't snapped up immediatelyafter Goodell announced there would be no suspension.Ketamine Dreams said:I think there's a decent chance he doesn't play again.
I think too that there are teams awaiting news on Plax, and see Jones as the 2nd option (Jets, Tampa, and maybe Bears just because I hear others saying it although I'm not so sure). I think once the whole Burress thing is settled, including announcement of any possible suspension, one of those teams waiting on him will end up signing Jones instead. My current guess is Burress to Jets, Jones to Tampa.Maybe this is me being a naive Jones owner, but I think the reason he has not been signed is that he is waiting to sign. Given few opportunities to start at this time, he can wait until there is an injury (or criminal offense) in training camp. I still think he goes to Dallas. Yes, I know what the Cowboys have said. But, I still doubt that they believe Austin (who I like), Crayton, and Hurd inspire confidence. I expect Dallas (and other teams) to want to give their young guys the first chance ... then bring in Jones.
