I thought this was funny. The Miami Sun Sentinel is running a poll on who should be the next Dolphins coach. I think the odds are its Mariucci or Petrino. Here's the poll.

POLL

Who should the Dolphins hire as their next coach?

Dom Capers, Dolphins defensive coordinator

Pete Carroll, USC coach

Dennis Green, Former Arizona coach

Steve Mariucci, NFL Network analyst

Jim Mora Jr., Former Falcons coach

Bobby Petrino, Louisville coach

Ron Rivera, Bears defensive coordinator

Rex Ryan, Ravens defensive coordinator

Mike Shula, Former Alabama coach

Other

Funny thing, Shula is winning the poll:

7.7%

Dom Capers, Dolphins defensive coordinator (203 responses)

13.6%

Pete Carroll, USC coach (360 responses)

3.3%

Dennis Green, Former Arizona coach (86 responses)

7.7%

Steve Mariucci, NFL Network analyst (203 responses)

7.9%

Jim Mora Jr., Former Falcons coach (210 responses)

6.0%

Bobby Petrino, Louisville coach (159 responses)

7.0%

Ron Rivera, Bears defensive coordinator (185 responses)

2.9%

Rex Ryan, Ravens defensive coordinator (78 responses)

31.2%

Mike Shula, Former Alabama coach (826 responses)

12.7%

Any thoughts in Dolphinland??

If I were a Dolphins fan, I would be emailing the front office DEMANDING that Mike Mularkey be promoted to HC. He's already had several years of HC experience, he knows the team's personnel, and he's been groomed under the tutelage of Saban-the-Uber-Coach. Plus, he's an expert on running the halfback option pass.

Seriously, if you are a Dolphin fan, you should make your voice heard today.

i can't imagine them making a play for dennis green or mora. no retreads either like norv turner. college coach like petrino might be enticed by a fat contract, the job and the city. i think usual names from within the assistant ranks will be the likely winner. whisenhunt, grimm, rivera, etc.

Latest I heard was Ron Rivera, Russ Grimm, or Ken Wisenhunt. No idea what they will really do though. I sure hope it isn't Mularkey...

Wayne will make a big push for Bill Cowherand send a few picks to the Steelers
It wouldn't surprise me that the Dolphins would go after Cowher. And, it would not surprise me if Cowher were interested in the DOlphins. But what would be the price??? I can't see a #1 (9th overall) for Cowher. That's toomuch even for Huzienga. Wait a year and go with a someone else and if that fails, then go after Cowher.

As a fin fan please not Capers or worse yet Mularkey. Personally I'd like to see Mora, he is young and could be the coach for the next 15 years and if he can get the Falcons to the NFC Championship with Vick at QB he must have skill. He was in a no win in Atlanta.

To bad the NFL put in the rule not allowing coaches to be traded for picks. Maybe the Raiders could have got something for Shell.
