Eagles barely beat the G-men at home, I like Saints here. 31-17.
What relevance does the Giants game have on this weeks game? Different systems, different players, different game plans.
about as much relevance as the last game the Saints played this yearIt is a division opponent and the Giants-Eagles games are historically close battles no matter the talent of either team. That was also the 3rd time this season that the two teams met - both teams know each others tendancies pretty well.
Payton/Gibbs down?

Probably. Please elaborate as I am obviously in the dark here.If you are referring to the time spent with the Cowboys, that is about as relevant as the Giants game

I was at the game earlier this year, and it was pretty deafening then...so I can only imagine what it will be like Saturday night. My bro and I couldn't hear each other, side-by-side.

Birds need to jump on them early, and phase out the crowd. Ball control O will be the name of the game after some quick-strike attempts in the 1st quarter, to keep that high octane "O" off the field.

Philly has the playoff experience, and there's a chance N.O. will start slow with the 2 weeks off, and opening round jitters.

Birds O-Line is playing out of their mind right now (18-game streak intact with all 5 lineman), but noise will be a factor

Saints have Katrina power, but Philly has revenge.

23-20 Eagles

Eagles in this one. Their D is playing way better and they're more playoff tested on the field and sidelines. They probably should have won the first one with the Saints.

:lmao: No relevance?Sean Payton has as much, if not more, knowledge about the Andy Reid lead Eagles as any coach in the NFC East. He's seen them twice a year since 1999. If you can't see that, there's nothing else I could say.

I do agree that the Eagles D has improved in the last several weeks but I also think they are still extremely vulnerable (especially against the run). Lets face it, if the Giants weren't.....well the Giants, they could have been up 14-0 or 17-0 pretty easily in that game. Tiki was able to run on them and I think the Saints will be able to as well. The defense played a bend but don't break style which can work against certain teams. The loss of Shepperd will only hurt. The one thing that I really like about the Eagles right now is the play of their offensive line. This might be the best unit left in the playoffs. I don't see the Saints D being able to stop the Eagles but I just think the Saints have a few too many weapons.

Saints have Katrina power
This is so overrated. Over half of the team (33 of out 53, iirc) wasn't in New Orleans last year. Yeah, the home crowd is boisterous, but the Saints spanked the 'Boys and G-men on the road with no "emotional lift" from the fans. Heck, they even spanked Atlanta in the Georgia Dome just the same way they did with the crowd in New Orleans on that Monday night game. This team is not on some "emotional high" and playing over their heads as a result. No, they are just good. They have dynamic players on offense with a coach that has proven he can formulate a creative gameplan. They have disciplined defenders who have only allowed more than one touchdown once in their last 5 games (not counting Carolina, of course). And they have very solid special teams with a guys like Lewis and Bush who are capable of taking it to the house at anytime. I don't believe Katrina has anything to do with their success other than providing a catalyst for getting bad apples like Haslett and Brooks out of town. Mickey Loomis has assembled talent for several years and Sean Payton provided a few more missing pieces. The fans of New Orleans have always been great, we just needed a winner for everyone to notice.

OK, I figured that was your point. Maybe you should read what I wrote: I was pointing out that using the Giants/Eagles game as a barameter on how this weeks game will go is a bad idea as those games are usually close because they are division rivals. So tell me, how does Payton's time with the Cowboys support the post i was responding to that suggested that this game will be a blowout because the Eagles only beat the Giants by a FG last week? Are you suggesting that Payton knows how Reid gameplans, but Reid wasn't paying attention when Payton was calling the plays for the Cowboys? Are you disagreeing that the Giants and Eagles are division rivals that play close games? If your only point is that the two coachs know each other, fine I agree, but it still has no relevance to the post that I was responding to. Relevant to the game - Maybe, supporting the notion it will be a blowout - I still am obviously in the dark.

The only problem with saying the Giants/Eagles game has relevance to the Saints game and then backing that up by saying that Sean Payton knows the Eagles because he faced them a bunch of times as an assistant so he know's Reid pretty well is this...Marty Morningwheg (sp?) is now calling the plays and Jeff Garcia is now quarterbacking the Eagles offense. Because of this they are more efficient on their short passing game and they are sticking with the run game more. Offensively sure, he may be able to put sometihing together against this defense.I expect this game to be a high scoring game with the winner in the 30s and the loser in the high 20s. Who that will be I don't know, these teams are too close to call right now.
