I will say that Manning (and the Colts) needs a signature playoff win - and I think if they win this Sunday it would be one.
while I agree with that, it will only then up the stakes (at least in the eyes of the naysayers) if he doesn't win the SuperBowl.this run thru the playoffs could be the one "magic bullet" that ends any legit Manning debate... get by NE and then win the Superbowl? all ills are then cured.

Of course even after that you will still have foolish people claiming that he "didn't win by enough" or didn't win "convincingly" enough.

I agree with each point.

Colin Cowherd was discussing Manning on the radio today. He made an interesting comparison:

Manning = Arod

Both have awesome talent, hardworking but their dedication causes them to overthink things too much, usually too analytical in the playoffs and cause themselves to try too hard and screw up.

You asked for examples, he gave you examples. Those are as valid, if no moreso, than your shot at the Patriots.
Right here bro, up top! Steffy: I think this is just a matter of a team that someone loves to root against finding small things to be annoyed at.

Kit Fisto: Just like you're doing right now. Let's call it a wash.

Steffy: The sway, you have to be kidding me; all teams did some stupid dance or gimic before the league outlawed it.

Kit Fisto: Not here in NE, we didn't. There are celebrations, but never "choreography".

Steffy: Crying for flags is now a staple in any NFL game and has been for a few years now, every receiver no matter how bad falls down and gets up and thinks there should be a flag. I don't think the Colts have ever done it more than say the Patriots.

Kit Fisto: Exhibit A. Marcus Pollard, 2004. If he had fought through that maybe it was/maybe it wasn't hold instead of looking for a flag, maybe he could have still come down with that ball.
I didn't disagree with all your examples. I made some valid counterpoints. Heck I brought up Vanderjagt in my original posts. I guess I never thought the sway was much of anything than to get the crowd more into it. I never much got into it during the games but again I am a Colts fan so it doesn't agitate me either.

The crying for flags example can be made for every team in the league in every game. Marcus Pollard in 04 is no different. Should he have fought through - heck ya, but in the NFL if you don't catch a ball there's gotta be a reason and it's never the actual players fault so the crying begins.

i don't see the colts winning. they can't stop the run. everyone said they stepped up in the playoffs but neither team that they played had a stud QB who would make them pay if they try and stack the line. thats the only way they can stop the run is if they put 8 in the box. they brought sanders up like he was a linbacker because they had no fear of trent green doing anything against them. if they try that against the pats brady will pick them apart.

i still can't believe that KC didn't put huard in.

I agree that KC and Green didn't put any fear into the Colts regarding the passing game but the Colts did shut down LJ who was #2 in the league in rushing yards this season. I'm sure it wasn't the first time KC had seen 8 in the box. While the Indy D was historically bad this regular season they do deserve a lot of credit for shutting down the KC rushing attack.

like i stated-they shut down LJ because they could bring sanders up to the line and use him as an extra linebacker. brady will make them pay dearly if they try that against the pats. the only reason IND could get away with that is that they didn't respect trent green. and check KC record-they lost 4 out of 7 games once green came back as QB-they should have kept huard in. plus KC backed into the playoffs.

it'll be a completely different game when IND is playing against a team that has a good(great) QB.

How will NE stop the Colts? Also, who is your favorite team?

i didn't say they would stop them-but they will slow them down by bumping the WR at the linne of scrimmage. plus they'll go after manning because they don't respect IND running game!

what i can't wait to hear is who manning is going to blame on his own team once they lose. thats one of his 2 trademarks. 1-can't win the big game...and 2-shift the blame to a teamate(or teamates) when they lose, when almost all the time it is manning who comes up small in big game.

It's been talked to death, and your comments are old. Let's just watch the game and be happy. I could go into this sh....it again, but I won't. I cannot wait until this is finally put to bed. Good night.

Today I played an electric football game between the Colts and Pats and the Colts won 24-21. I hope that helps.

Yes, I still play that game. As a matter of fact, I have many teams and still play leagues

Like I stated, LJ and KC has seen that all year long (8 in the box) and they could do nothing against the Colts D. The D was historically bad but what most don't look into is the games they have played with all their starters. The injury list was long all season and most of on the D side of the ball. They are finally healthy and McFarland has learned how to be effective with the new teammates.Let's give the D some credit for getting better/healthy at the right time of year and not always look at what their opponents did wrong. Regardless of how these teams got here and they are going to strap it up tomorrow so let's enjoy.By the way Indy is highly combustible and ready to explode at the game. This should be one of the loudest games in history. The Pats need to get out early to take the crowd out of the game more than they ever have in any other game.

thats not correct-they saw 8 in the box when trent green was playing. KC was a much better team when huard was QB because he'd make them pay if they stacked the box. green couldn't-thats why IND got away with it. if they try it against the pats brady will burn them-especially sanders.

If I hear one more national "expert" say that the Colts are going to win because it is "their time" I'm going to freaking barf. It is amazing that these "experts" get paid for such non-analysis. If the Colts win tomorrow, it would be because they will have played better than the Pats on that day, not because "it is their time."

:wall: As a Pats fan, I feel the same way. Of all the Pats-Colts games in recent years, this one has me the most nervous. The Colts have seemingly scored at will in the previous two games regardless of who was playing, who was injured, etc. The recent ability to stop the run seems to be a better ability to tackle moreso than anything to do with schemes, etc. If the Colts win, they will have earned it on the field, not because it is 'their time.' Good luck the Pats, and lets have another classic.

I agree, this is the best chance the Colts have vs. the Pats. They aren't needing to rely on Manning to win the game for them, which was always the case in years past. The Pats D is playing very well too, so this is going to be a :D game.

Dont kid yourself. The Colts are favored and have a great chance to beat the Pats. However, they are not doing it without Manning playing a very good game. Manning was fantastic in Foxboro and was primarily the reason why the Colts beat the Pats 27-20. If the Colts win tomorrow it wont be because Manning played average to crappy again and the defense carried them.I dont think Manning has it in him. Pats win 27-19.

concur :lmao:

Colts 28

Pats 3

Colts lose to the Bears in the SB.

Manning choke threads reach a fever pitch after the loss.

Bears fans go nuts and drive people insane.

Bannings are plentiful.

I hereby proclaim it to be a statistical impossibility for any other outcome.

Great game from the Colts, and Manning especially. He came back from the INT, and forgot about it. IN years past, it maybe makes a different day.

I thought the game turned on that really, because it kept the Pats D on the field and they got real tired, and they just couldn't hold.

Represent the AFC well!!!! We have a tradition. Go get your ring.

Great game overall too. I think both teams played pretty well. Has anybody seen any eye bug like Caldwells? Was that the deer in headlights?

:bye: No deer in headlights with Reche. Those are his God given eyes. Just abnormally large for his face.Great game last night. Still kinda of hard to believe the Colts came back after being down 18 on the Pats.My prediction was off, just a little :brush: :brush: , but I'll take the W from the Colts and an overall instant classic.

Today is a good day to be a Colts fan. Congrats to the Patriots for being terrific! What a game to attend!!!

Go Colts!

... on the bright side. Now we'll only have to hear "The Super Bowl Suffle" 10 times, instead of the 1001 times if my beloved Patriots had made it.

It was about 59:00 of a great game, truelly a classic to rank up there with the all-time great AFC Championships. And I guess it's good to see one of this generations great QBs finally get a shot at the title.

GO COLTS!!!
