Who's got more upside for the rest of the year (1 Viewer)

River's monster season is really amazing when you consider the injuries his receiving corps has suffered, and the no-names he's actually been throwing to. SD is still in the thick of the hunt in the AFC West, and it seems Gates gets healthy, Floyd and Nannee come back and VJax comes off suspension all at the same time. SD's playoff schedule for 14-16 is KC, SF and Cinc...WOW! A lot of leagues seem to have VJax and Floyd available on the WW, and I'm guessing this would be a good time to grab a significant piece of the SD passing game. Who's going to be the #1 wideout the rest of the way, Jackson or Floyd? I'm leaning toward Jackson, who has more history with Rivers, is actually healthy (suspended rather than injured) and has had the 4 weeks of his suspension to actually work on conditioning and timing with his QB. Is this the week to make this move?

I'm holding onto Tutu. VJax will pull his hammy - the curse of the holdout (see Revis) - and Buster is out and Legadu has bad hands. Tutu and Floyd could be the starting WRs down the stretch (with Crayton just playing a little slot).

No offense to VJax and certainly not wishing him an injury but just saying - holdouts often have muscle pulls. VJax was a little injury prone early in his career too if I remember correctly.

Floyd, without a doubt. Vincent Jackson hasn't played football in a long time and the only reason he's signed his tender and reported to San Diego is so he can become an unrestricted free agent next year, get paid, and get the hell out of San Diego.

Under the circumstances he has little incentive to bust his ### and excel for the Chargers so it won't surprise me at all when he tweaks a hammy on his first go route in week 12 and leaves the game with an injury. He can't be obvious about tanking it or it will cost him in his next contract, but he could easily pull up lame and claim a flat tire and be no worse off for it in his next contract negotiation.

I do think feigning an injury can be counterproductive in a contract negotiation. I think he'll play.

Sure, but I don't think he'll have to fake injury. One could make the argument that many players are hurt most weeks and they just gut it out and play through injury. With everything that happened between the Chargers front office and Vincent Jackson, I don't think he'll be highly motivated to play through the usual pains. I doubt it will matter when he's negotiating his next contract.

V. Jax has been practicing fully with the Chargers since week 8. He's allowed to practice with the team during his 3 game suspension, so he'll have 3 weeks + bye to practice. He won't be any more susceptible to injury from this holdout (like Revis was), and should step right in as the #1 WR.

I think alot depends on how long SD stays in the race for a playoff spot. I think as soon as they are out of it, they pull jackson in favor of giving some meaningful time to someone they will have next year. The opportunity cost of VJax taking snaps away from a younger guy is too high to let him play just for the sake of playing.

Bingo! Revis tried holding out and returning straight to the game right away whereas Vjax will have several weeks of practice before he'll play. SD is right in the thick of the race for the division right now plus Vjax needs to play well to strengthen his value for a new contract. He'll play and play well. Floyd will do well also with defenses having to respect Gates and Vjax but Vincent will be the better own for the rest of this season.

From a redraft perspective, if you look up "Lottery ticket" in the dictionary, you'll see VJax's picture...
