Who's starting Steve Smith with confidence? (1 Viewer)

Well for the first time in 5 or 6 weeks I've inserted Steve Smith back into my lineup for the biggest game of the year. He's been somewhat productive the last few weeks on my bench, just hasn't found the endzone. But I'm hoping that will all change this weekend!

I'm starting him over the likes of Galloway, Holmes, & AGonzo. Who's with me?

Starting him...but not with confidence. Need a new flex since Fargas got hurt, and I dont think I got the stones to start Rhodes vs Jax...so Steve Smith it is.

Steve Smith is the #62 WR over the past 6 weeks. He hasn't scored in 9 weeks, and his best yardage is 62 yards in the last 9 weeks. If you need WR #6 type numbers i guess you can be confident. :coffee:

I toyed with the idea of starting Smith in a PPR league over Greg Jennings, but I decided that now is not the time to be conservative. Jennings has been a TD machine and I'm hoping it will continue for one more week. Smith hasn't done much of anything since the beginning of the season but has had more receptions lately. It comes down to the fact that I don't see alot of upside with Smith in that offense. I think he's likely to get me 15 points, which is solid, but Jennings, at worst, would probably get 10 points, but COULD get 30. I'm willing to take that chance.

Got me negative five yards in my title game last year. Much as I love Steve, don't think I'll be going that route again this year.

I might start AGonzo over him...Peyton has to get some more work in with him before the playoffs.

:lmao: You should start him - but he's still playing at the level of a #2 WR at best. So start him - cause he could go off - but don't depend on him.

Just gotta hope he blows up. He's one of the few WRs that can put up 3 tds 200+ yards 10+ catches on a week. But he has been awful. The team is awful. I'm hoping he mans up this week for me.

I benched him in favor of A. Gonzalez last week and it paid off. Not sure, but I'm probably going to leave him on the bench with S. Holmes, and start T.O, Colston, and Gonzalez. In PPR he as been decent as of late though. He's certainly not a bad start.

Not confident at all BUT...he had 72 yards last week not 62, a bunch of targets, a QB who at least looks like he will stand in pocket and look for him (unlike Carr) and that QB has now had two weeks with the first team in practice and is going against his former team who's defense he faced in practice all pre-season. Plus, the Panthers have ZERO to lose and that makes them a dangerous team right now....ask Seattle.

Our championship is not until week 17 but he is starting alongside Colston and Evans for me this week.

In a non-ppr, I could see benching him. However, he did miss one game in the past 6 weeks due to injury, so that ranking is based on 5 games vs. other receivers playing 6. I play in a ppr league, and if we go by his last 4 weeks in a ppr league, he's actually WR #22. He's had double digit targets in each of the last 6 games he's played, so the opportunity is there. In a ppr, his last 4 weeks output has been 15.2, 10.4, 16.5, 12.9, and that's without scoring any TD's. I'm torn between starting him or Boldin as my WR2, but I think I'm going to go Smith because he's THE guy in Carolina and he has the potential to put up a 30 pt. game...I like his upside to break a long one so might as well swing for the fences in the title game...of course, he's shown that even if he doesn't break a long one, his numbers aren't going to lose your game either.

Hes on the bench for me. He hasnt showed up since week 6. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me 9 times, you can kiss my ### and ride the pine.

Im starting Colston, Holmes, and Holt over him.

I have to start Jerry Porter as my WR3, so yes, I have some confidence that starting Smith is good for my lineup.

I avoided this thread and any possible jinx. Had him in three leagues starting.

As I posted in the other thread

with Carr playing = 3.33 per game

without Carr playing (incl tonite) = 12.75 per game.

Well done by those who used him.

Glad I started him and ALMOST got that 30 pt. game in my ppr league. :IBTL:
