Who's the #3 option in CIN (1 Viewer)

Longrifle

With C. Henry susp for 8 games, who do you think will be the 3rd option in the CIN passing game. Whoever it is has a chance to put up some ok numbers for a WR 3 or bye week fill-in (Remember what C. Henry did in this role laset year). From what I have read the options are

Tab Perry (3rd year WR) - spent most of last year inj.

Antonio Chatman (6th year WR) - 2nd year with team - started in GB

Kenny Watson (7th year RB) - caught 23 passes last year

Reggie McNeal (2nd year WR)

Glenn Holt (2nd year WR)

Skyler Green (2nd year WR)

So what do you think?

My vote goes to Tab Perry. I'd add Benny Brazel to the list, though I don't think he'd be ready for a #2 this soon.

90% certain it will be Tab Perry, but I wouldn't be transferring all of Henry's numbers to Perry's column.

I think we'll see CJ and Housh do better than last year, especially Weeks 1-9, so that's why I like CJ and Housh as solid draft choices this year (and CJ #1 overall IIRC).

They really love Perry. I think they view Chatman more as a PR. McNeal will probably get cut, Green too. Holt is the KR. He was incredible at Kentucky.

Watson, as you note, is not a WR.

I would not pass up on Kenny Irons in any leagues late. He could be the de facto #3 after they get a look at his speed and hands.

Tab Perry looks like the obvious choice, but I can't see him making a difference in games, he reminds me of David Tyree too much.

Kenny Irons is good, I know I'm out of the box here. But I like him.

It is also a misconception that Perry isn't as fast as Henry. It is actually claimed that he is faster, and probably a little tougher. I'm not going to say that he's a better receiver yet, but he certainly shouldn't be overlooked.

Exactly how I see it, and I think Housh will benefit the most.

With no clear-cut #3, would you raise the value of the TE?
They don't feature the TE as a receiving option in the offense. Maybe at times in the redzone and on some short routes here and there, but for the most part, the Cincy TE isn't going to have value (fantasy-wise). It is much more of a blocking position.

I think Irons is a RB.

You're probably right Jeff. Keep an eye on Perry early pre-season. If you begin to see a chemistry develop between Perry and Palmer then he might surpise some folks. Another way to look at what happens to Henry's looks is at TE and RB. If Irons becomes a reliable 3rd down back then he might get some touches. Palmer was adamant that Reggie Kelly be resigned. Could that be a sign of a breakout TE? Probably not but something to consider in redzone looks.

Here's the interesting thing about Cincy. The Top 3 TD receivers were CJ, Housh and Henry. CJ was THIRD with 7, while Housh and Henry had 9 each. That's 25 of the 28 TD passes from Palmer.I don't see a big decline for Palmer's TDs, but I also don't see a philosophical change to the offense or Palmer looking at non-WRs. To put it in Target-wise numbers, no TE or RB had over 33 targets last year, and 361 of Palmer's 520 passes (69+%) went towards the top 3 WRs.Even if a TE or RB got involved, I see 10 TDs a distinct possibility for both CJ and Housh.

Chatman vs Perry

Chatman is better in the slot

Perry is the better athlete and as a sum of all aspects, probably the better player. Depends what they're looking for. Chatman can be effective for some slot work.
