Who's the WR2 in Tampa? (1 Viewer)

Considering both of these guys in a dynasty league. Who will own the WR2 spot this year in Tampa. What are people's thoughts on each's value long term? I like Stovall as a physical specimen but have seen very little of him. Clayton of course had the big rookie year and then disappeared. Will a stable QB position help either one grab the role?

Stats tell little other than Clayton sucked and was shut down at the end of the year yet Stovall did very little in his place. Stovall did have a higher ypc (14.5 vs 10.8) but it's such a small sample it's hard to draw anything from.

I honestly don't think we'll know anything concrete until Pre-season games begin for the Bucs. A few factors, in my mind, to consider is Clayton's health, what each will do with a more reliable QB and Stovall's progression into his second year. I realize that your question cannot be answered by anything at this time other then a gut feeling on each receiver. I personally like Stovall and would like to see him seperate himself, but I am not thinking he'll overtake Clayton just yet. Just my personal opinion on the situation.

Obviously opinion is all we have to go on at this point. Stovall sure gives more reason for optomism, but that could be just because we have a lot less to go on. But I share your gut feelings. Clayton looked terrible last season. Anyone know if he was hurt. I seem to remember something about a bum shoulder or wheel. Any bucs homers out there with some insight?

will Boston finally be able to stay on the field? When was the last time this guy played? Ah, 2003, SDC, 880 and 7. That's a long time ago. He caught 4 balls in five games for Miami in 2005. Are you being serious? Seems like it would be pretty tough to come back into the NFL and beat out two younger guys in front of you after only playing 18 games in the past 4 years.

Boston is a physical freak of nature. I'm sure he's in better shape than Clayton, although I don't know enough about Stovall to make the same claim there. If anyone can do it, Boston can.

Yes...Clayton had turf toe at the end of 2005, has had a hurt shoulder for a while, and partially tore his MCL in Dec of last year and missed the final 3 games. He's been very unhealthy since his rookie season.I haven't heard much locally on the WR corp since OTAs.The last I heard was that Clayton was lining up as the starter at the Z opposite Galloway...Stovall was lining up at both backup spots at the X and Z...and that Boston was lining up at both the backup X and STARTING Z.Hope that clears it up

claytons rookie year seems to be flukish.

If we are talking redraft league here. Draft Clayton very late and keep an eye on Stovall/Boston cause they shouldnt be drafted and are waiver wire fodder.

Clayton caught 1100 yards when he was the only viable WR on the roster. If Galloway, Stovall, Boston, Stevens, etc. all get injured, then look out. We are looking at another 70/1100/8 season from Clayton.Otherwise, I would probably bet on Stovall.

I'm not sure that Clayton's rookie year was a fluke talent-wise, it's that it was a fluke health-wise. Personally, I'm reminded of the career arc of Terry Glenn- huge rookie year, several injury-ravaged seasons, and then finally, late in his career, he found some health and has enjoyed consistent success ever since. I don't think it's out of the question for Clayton to wind up doing something similar. I know that, of the two, Clayton's the one I'd rather own in Dynasty.

I think Clayton is the better talent. If he's healthy and he has his head in the game, he shouldn't have any trouble beating out Maurice Stovall (marginal NFL player, IMO).

Clayton resembled a young Rod Smith during his rookie year. If he can get his stuff together, he has a chance to be a quality player.

For all we know, Garcia may favor Clayton just as Simms favored Galloway.

I'm planning to avoid all Tampa players, unless I can get Caddy in like the 4th round. Too much uncertainty.

That uncertainty translates into great value. IIRC, I got Clayton as the 60th WR off the board in an initial dynasty draft. A former 1,000 yard receiver and one of the best rookies in years while he's still under 25 years old as the 60th WR off the board in a dynasty league? Value, all the way.
