why do people stand in line for chipotle (1 Viewer)

Why do you assume people want real mexican food and not tex-mex?

usually when people show up before others, the ones latest to arrive need to wait to be served. Lines a an orderly way to wait for service.

I agree. Qdoba is a far superior option. Queso Diablo Burrito with Shredded Beef....ummmmmmmmmmmm......

good marketing always has and always will trump quality
i dont think its good marketing. i think its because most people are just too stupid to take more than 5 seconds to realize that there's more to eat for lunch than the place with the flashing neon lights and plastic food. these are the same people who buy reeboks instead of nike's and drive pontiacs. who actually wakes up one morning and says 'hey! i'm gonna go buy a pontiac car today!"

Well, up here at least, these Tex-Mex places are dog****. Everything is straight out of a can and consists of the cheapest of ingredents. Granted, most Mexican food is crap anyway, but at least at Chipotle you can get some semblence of decent ingredients.

Some people have different preferences than you. Don't get all worked up about it.
not really. there are some things out there that are objectively worse than their alternatives. take subway sandwiches for example. you're never going to convince anyone that a subway sandwich is better than a sandwich at a real deli, yet lo and behold right across the street from where i work, there's a subway next door to an an awesome italian deli which btw is also cheaper, and guess which one has the longer line. people in general are stupid, plain and simple.

Apparently there is an unwritten exception to this rule when there is a taqueria two doors over. Would like more info.

:lmao: Keep fighting the good fight! I'm sure you'll get everyone to agree with your preferences at some point.

Cuz they're idiots.

Order that #### online and walk to the front.
Always order online.
Crazy talk.

"Welcome to Chipotle. What can I get ya?"

"A steak burrito, my good man!"

"There ya go. What else you want on there?"

"Tarry a moment, friend! Would you be so kind as to roughly quadruple the amount of steak on there?"

"Uh...yeah, sure."

"Superlative! Now, let's get a fresh tub of guac out here. We're going to be loading up..."

I'm not an emaciated clarinet player type, and I like to get maximum value out of any transaction, so I do.

its not about my preferences. there are plenty of other examples of stuff where there is more than one acceptable option that may not match with my preferences, but you're not gonna convince a sane poerson that subway or chipotle is better than the real thing, especially when the real thing is right next door, cheaper, and has a shorter line. people need to look up from their electronic gizmos and look around once in a while.

Case in point: Vodka.

:scared:

Chipotle uses higher quality ingredients than the greasy authentic Mexican joints. Nothing wrong with greasy authentic Mexican joints, I just sometimes prefer to eat a little cleaner. It's nice to have healthier fast food options nowadays like Panera and Chipotle.

is there always a real taqueria 2 doors down from a Chipotle?
no i'm talking about the instances where there is, like where i'm at right now. it's a large metropolitan area.
Did you check the yelp reviews? Maybe it's just not very good.

Personally, I usually choose going to a small business over a chain. I do it with coffee. I rarely go into a Starbucks and will pay more to have a nice cup of coffee from a small business.

However, I do enjoy a great burrito bowl from Chipotle. I'd go weekly when my old office was across the street from one.

Healthier :lmao:

Read the caloric and fat intake of your burrito.

Why would you work right across the street from a Subway when you could work right across the street from a real taqueria with real mexican food and no line?

You've obviously never had authentic mexican food or you'd understand your level of wrongness here.
