I made a suggestion last year that I still believe is the best overall solution.
If you are an elected official, you are capped to the top five year average of your actual government salary.
For example. Pelosi actually earns about 224K a year for her job as an elected official. Her actual net worth is over a 100 million dollars.
Pass an Amendment where any elected official is free to make as much money as they want, but other than the average of their top five years of salary, they have to forfeit it. It goes to help the poorest areas in the state they reside in for those schools, police departments, fire departments, helping the homeless, etc, etc.
In exchange, if you serve 10 years or more as an elected official, you get a pension at 50 percent of that average for life.
Direct family members ( spouse, children, parents) are free to make as much as they like. But they are taxed at a 95 percent tax rate to any money linked to political ties from their family member who is an elected official. Hunter Biden can get 10 million from Burisma. He just has to give 9.5 million of it to the worst and poorest areas of his home state.
The other issue is all major financial crimes are now an offense where you will get the death penalty.
Paul Manafort should get the electric chair. So should have Madoff in the past. So should Kushner. So should Hillary Clinton.
Amend the Constitution. Once people start getting executed and there's no more big money, you will begin to create disincentives for the open grifters.
