Why don't we discuss Aaron Hernandez here? (1 Viewer)

Since Hernandez left, backup/second TE has been a revolvering door for the Patriots, if any decent options are available when they're on the clock, you gotta think it's a semi-automatic pick.

I'm sorry.

I hope the Pats can find another tight end of his caliber.
I'm sure they will be gunning for another one in the draft.
If one's available, they will pull the trigger.
After winning the lombardi I just dont think they have the ammunition to trade up in the draft.
Belichick is always trading back and acquiring picks, I think they'll have the bullets to pull something off.

This isn't even fun.
He may be known for not going in to the draft half cocked and finding success taking shots in the dark but in todays political climate it just doesnt seem relevant.
After all the departures in Free Agency, they definitely need to reload.

Looks like he'll never be the head of a major corporation.

:oldunsure: I think we're done.

Well, I'll be a son of a gun... You're right.

Now that he's locked up for good. Should we go rifle through his belongings?

Maybe they could trade with the Colts?

I heard Goodell is fuming. After carefully considering all of the evidence, he is prepared to lower the hammer on the Patriots and has suspended Hernandez for 3 games.

You guys need to be muzzled.

So I have a freind who is well placed in govt. According to him the AH story is far far far from over. Once the Feds got involved in this case they started peeling back the onion on lots of stories that some state agencies couldn't put together. That double murder they got AH "is just the beginning".

Ok. Such as?

It wouldn't surprise me one bit if they find out Hernandez was a serial killer. It's highly unusual for someone to be so brazen and sloppy. It does seem to suggest that he had done this before, several times. Most serial killers get caught because they get complacent and lazy, and no longer cover their tracks like they did at the beginning.

Other than closing open cases I agree. I don't care if he did 10 more. Unless it's in a state he's gonna fry, and he's gonna got locked up in max security for life without the possibility of parole anyway, why throw more money down the drain?

I don't necessarily disagree. But I imagine the biggest argument is that everyone deserves to have justice done. The families of the other victims, (ETA: getting closure) etc

Also, why waste taxpayer money trying him on the other murder? You gonna put him in jail for two lifetimes?
Murderers get paroled all the time. I'm guessing triple murderers have a much lower success rate.
Does this not mean what I think it means?

A Massachusetts jury found former New England Patriots star Aaron Hernandez guilty of first-degree murder on Wednesday, and he was immediately sentenced to life behind bars without the possibility of parole.

:bag:

If this is "just the beginning" perhaps there are a number of associates that would potentially go down with him. They may actually have more leverage with AH now that he doesn't have the motivation of getting out of prison. He is there, that is for sure - if he cooperates perhaps he lives the rest of his life on slightly better conditions, who know.

Or since he's already screwed, he takes responsibility for things he didn't do so his buddies walk.

Interesting. Would it be about Florida and football criminal activities within, would it be his activities in gangs in MA, or would it be about AH and Hartford gangs, or would it be all of the above?

Either way, interesting to hear.

In case he ends up winning an appeal.

Another dumb jury verdict, what a shock
I agree, but I don't think you can fault the jury for the verdict. Hernandez was clearly the ring leader, and they didn't have any concrete evidence showing this guy knew in advance of a murder or a crime was gonna happen. He obviously did, but the case sounded circumstantial.

Fair enough.  I didnt see the trial.  I did watch the Hernandez trial and it seemed fairly obvious that all of them knew what was going to happen.  I do think juries sometimes miss the big picture after listening to 21 pages of jury instructions regarding the law.  They tend to not use any common sense and are probably instructed as such.  I dont agree with that at all.
