Why FBGs so down on Mark Ingram Week One? (1 Viewer)

Moore being possibly out is going to help PT's receptions. All the word out of NO is that Ingram's role will grow as the year goes on. And yes, there's GB's defensive strength. Uncertainty around the exact split this week means Ingram is a bench candidate just to protect your team. He is worth the hype and the early pick. No RB outside of the top 10 except Hillis has Ingram's ceiling, he has the talent and then some to hit it, and that's why the hype was created.
I'm hanging my hat on the belief that he'll at least get the goal line carries and grow from there.

The only place I've seen Ingram higher than FBG is at Rotoworld, where they have him at RB24 this week. So I guess FBG *is* higher on Ingram this week than almost everyone else. I'm mainly surprised about Bloom's ranking because he is normally the guy that goes waaaaay out on a limb about RBs.

I'm not sure what I'll do. Week 1 is uncertain no matter who you're talking about unless you picked a player in the first two rounds (of course, people at RW and FBG rec'd Ingram as a 2d round pick). But I definitely do feel like I'm on an island with Rotoworld's RB24 ranking my one faint voice of camaraderie.

Now I really feel on an island playing Ingram this week. Wesseling, the Bloom (i.e., chase the upside guy) of RW who probably ranked ingram RB24 this week, said the following via Twitter:
@ChrisWesseling Ingram tonight or Julio sunday as non ppr flex?50 minutes ago in reply to ↑ @ChrisWesselingChris Wesseling @mbg032183 If it was me, I'd play Julio. Ingram too reliant on a TD in this game.
Too many voices are down against Ingram in Green Bay tonight to ignore.

meh. luck favors the bold. He is my RB3/Flex player so I am banking on his upside. 50 yards and a punch in at least baby. :football:

The more I think about the Saints success, the more I think they need to establish the ground game...starting week one. He might only see 15 carries, but he will most certainly be featured. Brees threw 22 picks last year, they need a run game from the get go. They happened to have traded up and took a Heisman winner. JMO, but this guy is a stud this season, and it wouldn't surprise me if it was this week. Barring injury, he's a top ten back IMO.

Been targeting Ingram in my drafts based on a lot on the hype train in the SP and in the FBG articles. Drafted as my RB #2 so I was really excited to get him and sighed a deep breath of relief. "got him - suckers!".But now week #1, and if you listen to the FBG staff, he's all but unstartable. I should start Fred Jackson over him, even Pierre Thomas is a better start according to Bloom. I was really looking forward to playing my shiny new toy, and FBG's throw a cloud of doubt over what I thought was a no-brainer decision. I guess I have to roll with Ced Benson now???
Green Bay had the no. 2 scoring defense last year missing major components. And they are now healthy.Ingram's worth will be mainly based on scoring TD's this year. I was lucky enough to get his as a RB3 in a start 2 RB league and he's soundly on the bench this week.
IIRC overall NO Def was ranked higher at #4 and Saints have taken the last two matchups: 51-29, Nov. 24, 2008 on Monday Night Football and in 2006, 34-27. Both time the Packer were healthy so I'm not buying what your are selling. "IF" the Packers win, it won't be easy!!!!
Those games from yesteryear really mean nothing when compared to tonight's game.
Same system, plus players are back from injury.

Can't make up my mind between him and Harvin for my #2 flex spot.
I'm in the same boat between him and Collie. I can't afford to beef this one since I have a chance of having Justin Tuck sit out sundays game with a stinger. My depth is injured or lottery tickets.

Leaning towards starting him over Tolbert as my flex in a 0.5 PPR. Not going to stop drinking the koolaid now.

Interesting: Waldman and Silva (Rotoworld) touting Ingram hard for Draft Rankings (click on the Draft tab). Looks like no FBG rankings for Week 1 yet though.I'm a PT owner (and have to start him in my flex). I would like nothing more than an Ingram flat tire tonight.

Not trusting Foster... so I'm rolling with Ingram tonight (versus Ben Tate on Sunday). I'm OK with it, and I think he's got something special. Not too worried about Pierre Thomas as I feel talent always wins out.

For those guys that love Ingram but are worried about the Packer defense, that is a losing strategy. If you really feel it in your heart that he is an elite talent... PLAY HIM, and to hell with the match-up!

Thank you FBG's.

This is why we pay these guys. Saved me a roster spot for Sunday. Cherry on top is I started Aaron Rodgers tonight in both my leagues.

:pickle:

Just not the right game to play Ingram. He will prove his value and then some as the year goes on. just not in GB on opening night.

Skimming the lists very briefly while at work, I had two major problems with the W1 rankings, and I'm confident my hunches are correct.

Without giving too much subscriber content away...

1) Mathews and Tolbert are ranked too closely. Mathews will have the better day, and I suspect he'll have the MUCH better day.

2) Ryan Fitzpatrick is ranked waaaay too low.

That is all.
I completely agree on Fitpatrick, being underrated by all of FBG. Why would Matthews be a lot better, if he (as I have heard in early Aug.) doesnt get goal line or third down work?

hows it going???????????????????????????????

I drafted Ingram fully expecting to not count on him until later in the season. His role will increase as the season goes on. Not to mention we have seen one half of football. Settle down folks.

Isn't there still a half left to play? I half hope Ingram stays under 20 yards so I can buy low in the league I don't own him.

Ingram looks damn good. I didn't start him but I like what I'm seeing and I'll be starting him when he has more favorable matchups and more and more as the season progresses.

This week one shoot out against a tough D just wasn't the right week to debut him in fantasy.

The opposite of this. Not liking what i'm seeing. Saw at least 3 runs where he just dove straight down and made nothing out of nothing. Weak effort tonight and has me worried.

Difficult to see. Always in motion is the future. Much to learn. You have.

I see him scoring from distance this week. Maybe even twice.

I saw nothing special from Ingram, no WOW moment.

Against lesser teams, his straight forward style will be productive but clearly when NO is in passing mode, Ingram is not involved in the offense.

Still have hope for him, thinking today is his rookie welcome to the NFL day. But I agree that it is concerning that Ingram showed no "instincts" or good vision at the goal line. On the earlier botched 4th down conversion, he could have swung wide and jogged into the endzone. It's like the game is too fast for him right now. If they continue to feed him, he's going to have to produce some results, or he'll be on the hot seat soon.

If anything is concerning to me right now, it was the Saints OL getting owned by GB. They were getting blown off the ball on a majority of plays. I don't care who is in the backfield, it is going to be ugly.

As usual, I apologize for doubting you FBG. I drafted him high on the hype and really wanted to start him... and was disappointed you had him ranked so low, but I listened and benched him, and you very well could have saved me my game this week. For that, I thank you.

You were right, I was wrong. I am ugly, you are pretty attractive, etc....

Yeah, I saw him run straight ahead into the pile much more than I expected...

He's a massive bust because of Sproles. Forget fantasy, Sproles is a helluva player and has been forever. Why SD let him go?

Alot of sensationalism in this post. Swung wide and walked into the end zone? Assuming the game is too fast for him based off three carries where he didn't get 5 yards on a run? Every other carry he looked great. Silly stuff.

He'll be fine. Will probably get more involved in the passing offense as the season goes on.
I doubt it. Sproles and Thomas are already fantastic catching the ball out of the backfield. I thought Ingram looked good, but the three-headed RBBC in New Orleans is gonna make it difficult for him to put up notable numbers this year. Thomas and Sproles are simply too good to not touch the ball a lot as well, so the RB touches will be all over the map from week to week.

The parts I like most is that he had 1-1/2 times the touches of the other RBs, a multiple cracks at red zone carries, and the ball on the GL when the game was on the line. I also thought he looked better running the ball than Thomas and Sproles.

The parts that are concerning is that almost every time he enters the game the Saints run, he didn't score with the game on the line, and he didn't have a single reception. This could end up like Beanie's first season if he stays so one-dimensional, which would be a disappointment at his ADP.
