Why is Thomas Jones Ranked so Low this Week? (1 Viewer)

Im starting TJones with confidence this week with his great matchup vs Miami

However, Im surprised Dodds has him ranked 22 and Bloom only 16. Id probably put him in the bottom part of the Top 10 due to the matchup

Even in the article a few weeks back about undervalued RBs, TJones was the #1 votegetter with 7 'expert' votes

Their projections and rankings are hardly what I finalize my decision on - I mean, they dont even have 1 RB getting 100 yards typically - but some of the RBs they have ahead of him just baffle me

Im expecting something like 24/110/1...and despite his 2 TDs last year, I think its more likely he gets 1 than doesnt this week. Partially because I think the O will be much more efficient under Favre, not to mention Faneca and the OLine upgrades

Im assuming he's most people RB3, though RB2 is certainly a possibly. In my case Im benching McGahee, but I think Id be benching almost anyone projected outside of the top 10 RBs for the season in favor of TJones this week

What are you guys expecting from him tomorrow?

Starting him over J. Lewis this week and was doing it even before Lewis came up gimp this week.

Lewis with the improved O-line should have improved upon his 2 TDs last year. Adding Favre only helps more, as now the defense has to respect the passing game.

I was actually just talking to my uncle and he said he thought that Hurricane Ike was supposed to hit there tomorrow...Im going to have to check that out now, but otherwise, Im agreeing with you guys

ETA: apparently it only looks like isolated t-storms and the chance is 20%..If anything, that probably only helps Jones.

And almost 90 views and 2 responses...come on now!?!?

I'm surprised at all the low projections for Jones this week as well. I'm starting Jones as my RB2 tomorrow with confidence!!

I'm on board with this. Especially since it is a PPR league. He will be the workhourse for a team that has a very good OL and a QB that will force the D to play honest. I'm on board with this play.
 
With the new wing, I am thinking Washington gets a bigger piece of the bigger pie. Although I guess I am not one to ever 'start Thomas Jones with confidence' except maybe in a flex spot.

I'll tell you this, I really like Washington and have never been a Tj supporter. But I think if those are the only two splitting the run and pass touches at RB for the Jets, Jones is a steal this year.

Maybe Im missing something, but why do you think TJones and Washington would split carries?!? LW is nothing more than a 3DRB with return abilities

If you drafted Jones as RB2 he's in your lineup, and if he's your flex it's not unlikely. The people who rate him poorly this week are the same people who didn't want to draft him the first place.

 
Read Dodds final thoughts and that will explain why he is way down the cheat sheet.

I debated that one as I do his entire outlook of the Jets Offense but keep in mind that entire all star O-line may take a few games to jell. They showed signs of it last preseason game. But it's only Miami so as good as a time as ever to come together.

I am playing Jones with confidence. Washington is nothing more then a returner guy and a good one at that and a 3rd down back. It's jESSIE YOU NEED TO WORRY ABOUT THAT COULD EAT INTO jONES CARRIES STARTING WEEK 6.

Me and Doods think a like per his final thoughts but the Jets offense is the one I debated him on and about the only one of his final thoughts we don't think alike. Favre too!

The hurricane is passing way south of Miami and hitting Cuba. Could turn and hit the keys late Monday on way to New Oreleans /Texas gulf coast again like Gutsav. Won;t effect game tomorow other then maybe a squall or two at worst as it's well past 150 miles south of Miami and its winds only reach 150 miles from eye.

Im not sure if youre serious with those caps or whatIf the jessie your talkin about is jessie chapman, hes not even on NYJ anymore bc he got cut so im no worried about thatI dont need to wait for the line to gel..If TJ got what he did last year, he should only improve with Faneca and crew in there now!
 
The guys who do the projections are basically saying "show me something" to TJones this year given his horrific YPC last year.

As I own him in the subscription contest, I'm banking on the new fullback, new olinemen, and new quarterback to make his sledding easier than last year.

TJones is a vicious runner in the mold of Curtis Martin when it comes to gametime attitude; just the kind of player I love to have on my team.

Having said all this, I expect today's game to be relatively low scoring

NYJ 13

TJ 18/62/0

After the game a lot of TJ's owners will panic, but not to worry he's good for 100 yards and a TD against the Pats in Week 2.

 
Yinzer,,, I hate to be the one to dissapoint you but you got fooled if you think Jessie got cut! He got a 4 game suspension. Week 5 Jets have a bye. Chessie Chatman is a

JET! And has been a Jet from day 1 of pre seson! And will be running the ball week 6. Excuse the caps. I don;t have a great type set up here and get them flipped a lot. Excuse mis spells for same reason. gustav... is that better? :confused:

Oh and on Favre I agreed with Doods his ADP was to hi. I did not draft him other then a waiver pick up in one dynasty. But i think theres a good chance he does

make the owners happy that reached for him. He went to fast in all my drafts.

Even 6.1 in my 2 qb redraft league! I waited until 8.8 to get my qb.2.

Starting T Jones over R Rice. I really like T Jones here - Favre is Favre - but still learning - will need T Jones...I as really surprised that he was ranked so low - I was thinking this is a PRIME matchup...at least in the top ten.

 
Ugh, just when I thought my decision was final, I see this. I have waffled over Tj v. Bush all week in my PPR league. I finally picked Bush. But I had Jones in there the entire week. Damnit. I think Jones does well this week, no doubt.

 
I'm starting him over Ricky Williams, Selvin Young, and Chris Johnson.

I honestly don't get why he is rated so low either. However, Paul Charchian has him in the top 5 this week and ESPN has him 6th so not everybody has him low.

 
It's the first week. Not much to go by, and I understand that. But, I too am wondering about two of my guys that are ranked pretty low this week. TJones at RB and S.Holmes for WR's. Both similarly ranked, and I question both.

 
I was wondering the same thing about Farve, thought this was a good matchup for Jets in general.
