Wichita, KS (1 Viewer)

The wife and I were thinking about planning a trip to Wichita, KS for a concert this summer. We have never been close to Wichita, KS and thought it would be a nice change of scenery, but don't even know where to start.

Any tips or concerns with going? Do's or Don'ts? Is Wichita, KS a fun city to be in?

I think the mall there still has an Aladin's Castle.

Wichita is fine for a quick weekend concert.  There are some decent restaurants and bars near downtown, as well as a few hotels. (I am assuming the concert is downtown.)

If you'll be flying, the airport is pretty small and if you don't live in a major hub city you'll probably have to changes planes to get there.  No public transportation to speak of, so a car will probably be needed unless you're staying near the venue.

lived there for 8+ years.  good golf courses near by.  decent night life just east of downtown.  hope you go on a "cool" weekend, otherwise hot/muggy during the summer.

I was there a decade ago whilest driving from Austin to Minneapolis.  I don't know how I remember, but the place I went to was known for their truffle fries.  So I did the Googlez and it appears as if it was called The Anchor.  I recall it being a good spot.  All I got.
