Wife's first mother's day: Help Needed (1 Viewer)

I've got plenty of experience buying birthday and anniversary gifts and all that stuff, and buying mother's day gifts for my own mother of course. But this one's new for me. My wife and I have a baby girl who is almost a year old, obviously too young to do her her own shopping unfortunately, which I assume means I have to do something. What the hell do I get my wife for her first Mother's Day? Do I buy some sort of card and sign it with our daughter's name? Does she want to get away from our daughter for the day, or spend it with her? I'm baffled by this one.
Do you have a "make your own pottery" kind of place around you? My wife eats that stuff up. You take your baby girl with you, pick out a mug, platter, something....then have either your daughter's foot or hand print put on the mug....some of the places will make animals, trees, etc out of the print. Then they can put a message on it if you choose.

Mother's day is not about things, it's about thought and appreciation. Let that be your guide.
... which are apparent through the purchase and gift-wrapping of things.
Booooo!Homemade first mother's day framed picture, with the kids hand prints on it imo. That is the stuff that wives dig.
Hallmark has some interesting Mother's Day handprint stuff out right now - for cards, frames, and other keepsakes. They're calling it Magic Prints. It uses some technology where the handprint reveals artwork so it a little more interesting than a normal, flat ink print.
Thanks for this idea. I think I'm going to hit Hallmark today on my lunch break.

whatever you do do not get her a tree and then plant it with her and your kid and then go out and hit it with the lawnmower the very next time you mow just trust me on this one brohan
:lmao: love the family side of SWC.

Bumping this thread for myself and others in a similar position. It's that time of year, and now I've got two of these useless little moochers who can't even get their own mom a gift.

Think I might try that make your own pottery idea or something, but open to all suggestions.

i stand by my point that you should not plant a tree with her in honor of your kid and then anilate that sucker with the old toro but another thing you would not be wise to do is buy her a new toaster even though she complains about it every day and says hey i hate this here toaster because when you do what you are apparently actually saying is get in the kitchen and make me some toast and brohans i do not even like toast take that to the bank

Get her a gift card to her favorite restaurant from your daughter. At this point I am sure she would love a nice night out.
