Will the Steelers rest Big Ben in week 16? (1 Viewer)

With the #1 seed now out of their control, Ben looking immobile last night, and the fact they play the lowly Rams at home, ya gotta belive they'll roll with Charlie Batch this week. Mendenhall could have a huge game but owners of Wallace & Brown and Ben need to keep an eye on this IMO.

i am already looking @ other options for Ben. His shaky play, plus him maybe sitting, plus them running the ball all over STL makes me not want to play him.

I probably will still start him(as long as he actually starts) but am starting to warm up to playing Orton vs Oak over him....

He's a risky play even if he starts. I am not sure how many people are left that have been banking on Ben as their primary QB.

Anyway, no I don't think they will sit Ben in week 16.

This is a very difficult decision for the Steelers. Especially in light of the Ravens-Bengals game in Week 17, where a Baltimore loss (hardly unlikely) would hand a week off and at least one home game to Pittsburgh (assuming they win out, which looks pretty likely no matter who starts at QB). But if you play him for two more weeks, delaying the healing process, and the Ravens win in Cincy anyway, you've really put yourselves behind the 8 ball for no appreciable gain in position.

I'm glad this "hero" moniker is trending towards "hurting the team." Drama queen.
Yes he is obviously faking the injury. I am guessing he doesn't really like football and is hoping that he tricked the Steelers coaching & medical staff into thinking he is injured so he won't have to play Week 16 against the Rams.

I expect he'll play. Tomlin does not play the "we need this guy for the playoffs, so we'll rest him" game. If Ben can play, he will play, and he'll play the whole game unless he re-injures or aggravates the ankle. In Tomlin's world/eyes, it's black and white. If the guy is healthy enough to be on the field, he will be, if he isn't, he isn't. If the trainers tell Tomlin that Ben can roll and that it's a just a pain tolerance/re-aggravation risk situation, and Ben tells Tomlin he wants to play (he will), then Tomlin will start him and play him until he can't play anymore. That's just how he coaches.
