Will you be using Draft Dominator at your draft? (1 Viewer)

I'm debating whether to attempt using DD this year at the draft. I usually just use a VBD cheatsheet with customized projections and scoring. I'm not sure whether this old dog can learn a new trick of using a laptop at the draft. We use a draft board and it seems this along with the paper version of the cheatsheet might be easier to use to visualize the big picture of VBD, player tiers, and general info management. I suspect that if I use DD, I might be kept too busy managing the software to pay attention to the flow of the draft.

Are these valid concerns, or is it time for me just take the technology leap?

Jump....but wear a helmet! :football:

I will most certainly be using it this year again... As long as you have the draft order and everything entered and configured in the DD, it is no trouble at all to keep up with the draft flow. This year, I have 2 drafts at once, one local, and one that I will be participating in via IM, and without my rankings in DD, I would be going crazy trying to keep up.

Really all you need to know to use the draft dominator is how to click a mouse...

Easy to learn and great software and of course I used it for my drafts

Will be using it for my online drafts. My live drafts I will take cheatsheets printed off of it. No need for my league-mates to know all my secrets.

I will be using for the scond season and it is indespensible. Run through a couple of mock drafts and you will no doubt get the hang ot it. I use it to chart the draft and measure market value of players. I stick with the default projections and ADP and pick the players I want. DD is my co-pilot not my captain.

I highly reccommend it.

I like it a lot for simple redraft leagues.

I've joined 2 dynasty leagues with some complicated scoring and line up requirements this year. The DD is not as helpful in those drafts.

I still use it in all my drafts as it's a great tool to keep track of the draft. It shows you really clearly if, for example, the 3 owners between your next pick have already taken a QB in which case you know you can use your current pick on another position and wait another round to get your QB etc.

I use it to keep track of who is still available and to see who will score more using my league scoring.

My league gives more points for tackles than a standard league so tackles are more important in this particular league. DD shows me who will give me more points based on specifics instead of just plain projections.

I pick by position based on my teams needs but once I determine the position I look to see what my best options are by looking at the DD.

It is a very useful tool to have available.

I used it at the draft last year for the first time. I had always used my cheatsheets like you were but I won't go back now. DD is so easy to use it is great. Just take 15 minutes prior to the draft to make sure you have your scoring system set, set up the draft order, and enter keepers (if any) and you are ready to go.

And no one ever kept time until last year when I kept yelling out "Times up". I think the clock pressured them a little and helped me.

Exactly the opposite will happen. Remember you can import your VBD sheet into the DD and then I would suggest using the following windows: Player Pool, Team Stats (these two are the most important, everything else is secondary), Draft Status (nice because it has the timer on it), Team Data and Draft Summary are also nice to have open. When a player name is called you double click the name in the Player Pool window and viola your are reaching for your next beer while everyone else is looking for where "Ciatrick Fason" is on their draft board and wondering where they put their pen.

Don't see Ciatrick Fason in the first page of the Player Pool window, don't start scrolling down, just type Fason in the search bar below the Player Pool window and start reaching for that beer.

Also be sure to monitor the Team Stats window, as you see the teams develop you will be able to predict the runs and then start them.

It almost makes the draft too easy.

used it in two drafts so far and it REALLY helps you target mid to late round value. I wouldn't draft without it

Thanks for all the suggestions. I didn't mean to imply that I'm not fairly computer literate. I have a pretty good track record using my customized projections/scoring with the FBG VBD tool. I was mostly wondering whether during a draft which uses a draft board (easy to see which teams have already taken which positions, predicting runs, etc), DD really offers much of an advantage over a good cheatsheet. On the cheatsheet, I can see each position plus the overall VBD ranking all on one sheet.

It sounds like the overwhelming consensus is to go with DD, so I'll give it a shot...

you won't be disappointed..one thing to remember when using the DD is that you'll still have to do some quick analysis at certain spots in the draft, like weighing SOS, Offensive System and the like if you have a couple players real close in value. But I've found in the later rounds of the draft, the value is readily apparent using the DD. Good Luck.

I wouldn't do a draft w/o it. I love being able to add comments and keep track of byes and SOS. All of that information in one place = phenomenal!
