I'm debating whether to attempt using DD this year at the draft. I usually just use a VBD cheatsheet with customized projections and scoring. I'm not sure whether this old dog can learn a new trick of using a laptop at the draft. We use a draft board and it seems this along with the paper version of the cheatsheet might be easier to use to visualize the big picture of VBD, player tiers, and general info management. I suspect that if I use DD, I might be kept too busy managing the software to pay attention to the flow of the draft.
Are these valid concerns, or is it time for me just take the technology leap?
Exactly the opposite will happen. Remember you can import your VBD sheet into the DD and then I would suggest using the following windows: Player Pool, Team Stats (these two are the most important, everything else is secondary), Draft Status (nice because it has the timer on it), Team Data and Draft Summary are also nice to have open. When a player name is called you double click the name in the Player Pool window and viola your are reaching for your next beer while everyone else is looking for where "Ciatrick Fason" is on their draft board and wondering where they put their pen.
Don't see Ciatrick Fason in the first page of the Player Pool window, don't start scrolling down, just type Fason in the search bar below the Player Pool window and start reaching for that beer.
Also be sure to monitor the Team Stats window, as you see the teams develop you will be able to predict the runs and then start them.
It almost makes the draft to easy.
