One of Australia's leading vaccine opponents wouldn't get vaccinated obviously, got COVID in October, went to the hospital in November, refused conventional treatment, checked himself out of the hospital, went home, treated himself with bleach enemas, and died.

Despite the positive test results, the man’s family does not believe that he died from the coronavirus. “Officially, he will be included in the statistics as a victim of the crown. But I know better,” wrote the deceased’s son on the portal.

Saw a news segment that stated 10% of all lung transplants in the US are now COVID-related emergency transplants. A doctor from Wexler(?) hospital at OSU stated they have done 14 this year. All 14 were unvaccinated. Something to do with ammonia scarring the lungs past the point of it being able to recover.

Got the Pfizer booster three days ago.  Same as first two, felt kind of crappy the next afternoon but double-tapped the Nyquil and felt good after a good night's sleep.

I think it was Tuesday afternoon I went to the .gov website where I could plug in my zip code, click a provider on a google map and select an appt slot.  I had many choices for that very afternoon, but chose Wednesday where I had my choice of what seemed like fifty different time slots.  On one hand, that's very cool; on the other hand it means I'm living amid a bunch of seat-belt wearing sheep who won't get vaccinated because they love their freedom. Sigh!!

Kids got their second doses on Thursday. No side effects noted for them except maybe lower than usual energy.

Wife got her Pfizer booster (previous was Pfizer too) at the same time.  The vaccine clinic (run by the city health dept) was closing up and had extra booster doses they were going to throw out.  My wife had been sticking it out in solidarity with her African colleagues.  One of them from Zambia told her that only 7% of their population has been fully vaccinated even though 4 different vaccines are approved.  Anyway, she thought it was dumb to hold out just to waste a dose and increase her own risk. Glad she chose that pragmatic path.

She was laid up most of yesterday but is back to 100% today.

I got my booster yesterday in preparation for a trip to New Orleans for a buddy's 40th.  I feel less anxious knowing my antibody levels will be nearly peaked when I go.  I had to search out and call around for a Moderna booster but found a walk in clinic that would jab me.

I was fine yesterday but had some restless sleep and woke up this morning feeling about 30%. No fever but achy all over and super lethargic.  Feeling better now 3 hours and a shower later. Hopefully I'm close to 90% tonight as there's a holiday lighted boat parade that we watch every year.

fwiw, the NYTimes daily email had something on Africa a week or so ago when the omicron was breaking; seems that for many countries, it's not a lack of vaccines- they are apparently refusing new vaccine shipments as they're fully stocked. A main issue is lack of desire to take them... for a variety of reasons.

Got my Moderna booster at 7pm Wednesday night. The family’s traveling to Minnesota (a current breakout hot spot) for Christmas and wanted the extra protection for it.   Sleep that night was restless and body aches started.  Thursday I didn’t feel well at all, body aches fatigue, headache and lots of sinus pressure.  This extended into sleep that night, which was restless too, but faded as the night progressed.  But, left armpit and clavicle lymph nodes are very swollen ( easily visible) and very sore, I got the shot in my left arm.  Still are as of this morning (Saturday). Google overlord says this is common on the injection side of the body and could last up to 10 days 😩.  For whatever reason the booster has been the roughest of all the shots for me.

Is it really ammonia and not an autocorrect of pneumonia? If so 🤦‍♂️ people as so ####### stupid.

I wonder if people hear about these (temporary) vaccine side affects and get scared off from taking it?
Definitely do. Somehow they aren’t scared of dying and long term health affects but damn feeling lethargic for a day, #### that.

It may seem a little insensitive but if the world is a little lighter of idiots who would breath ammonia or shoot bleach up their ### to try or suck on horse balls to heal themselves, I’m all for it. Maybe culling the herd will lead to a better and smarter society and I’ll be able to beam myself to Paris for breakfast before I die.

That sucks. I felt sore but also was very active the day after my booster and that didn’t help. It was just that day. No swelling.

Strange, seems like giving a liver transplant to an alcoholic who is not in recovery. Don't they have supply-based ineligibilities for transplants like these?

My lymph nodes were swollen and very painful on my left underarm (where I got the booster) for about 4 days.

I think that's partly true.  I bet messaging to people there has been tough.   Also, while Africa as whole isn't in a good place, the one thing they have going for them is that there are very few 80+ year old people there as a %.

Also this colleague mentioned that many of the shipments have vaccines that are nearly expired and therefore can't reach the populace in time.  Especially ones with difficult storage temperature requirements.

FWIW, my wife's colleague is in public health in Zambia, so I trust that source.

Had my Moderna booster a few weeks ago (had Moderna 2 shot in March/April).  Booster was 9am, around 5pm started feeling achy, chills around 9pm.  Tossed and turned all night, chills and sweating profusely all night, but I woke up the final time around 6am and felt fine.  No other side effects.  So, 12 hours of feeling rough, but now boosted... I'll take it.

Weird the clavicle lymph node is swollen, as the lymphatics it serves come mostly from your internal organs - not the fat/muscle of the shoulder, where you received the shot. I guess it's a systemic effect of the booster, but it's strange only that node was impacted (aside from the one in the armpit).

Active infection often (not always, eg. HIV) precludes transplant. Scarring from prior infection doesn't.

Got my booster Friday. Besides the pain from the puncture, it knocked me on my ### for the better part of 24 hours. Don't care - if the professionals tell me to get another tomorrow, I'll do it.

For those worried about booster side effects, a little Tylenol and about 10-20mg of THC (edibles are best but smoked/vaped works too) is amazing for rounding off any discomfort.

If you read up on those "variety of reasons", it is a damn good explanation for those people not trusting their government and/or Pharma.

Damn good reasons for anyone to not trust pharma actually.

Something's gotta give. I'm not going to start researching, developing, and manufacturing my own drugs anytime soon.

The nyt email touched on some of them...horrific. and yeah, an understandable explanation for why people are believing the misinformation being spread there now against vaccinations.

But the point of the article was that it's not as simple as "Africa isn't getting enough vaccine".
Exactly.  So stop blaming the USA and other countries for the lack of vaccination in these countries and stop trying to guilt us into not doing boosters.  Had we gone forward with approving boosters for all on Sept. 20 like Biden wanted to, we would be in a different position right now.

Mine was almost this exactly.  Got my Moderna booster the Friday after thanksgiving around noon.  Went to bed around 2AM (was busy winning the superbowl in Madden) and then woke up at 4AM with the shakes/chills but fell back asleep before taking my temp.  Woke up around 9AM and was at 101.5 degrees.  Moved from the bed to the couch and slept until noon.  Ate some Thanksgiving leftovers and fell back asleep until 4PM and the fever had broken.  Went up to shower because I smelled like death (or someone who was sweating for 12 hours straight without a shower) and when I went to put deodorant on, felt the swollen lymph node in my armpit.  Stayed that way for about 5 days but no other side effects during that time.

I’m on day 6, nodes are still swollen, though less so, and the pain is gone.  Was a rough 4ish days though.

People aren't breathing ammonia (I don't think   ), the body naturally produces ammonia. Normally it's processed by the liver and excreted. That's why alot of hardcore alcoholics can end up with a form of dementia, because the ammonia builds up and affects the brain. Apparently severe covid also attacks the liver, which is what would lead to high ammonia levels.

Read the post I responded to, it sure sounded like people breathing ammonia. It was about unvaccinated people having ammonia scarring in their lungs. That doesn’t sound like ammonia build up in the liver, that sound like people breathing it in thinking it kills the virus. Considering some of the other home remedies that people are willing to believe, it makes sense to me.

I didn’t read the original article to which that post referred, but it’s far more likely the poster misinterpreted “ammonia” in place of “pneumonia”. The latter definitely can scar the lungs, and is the major manifestation of severe Covid.

While it’s true our body produces ammonia and it’s detoxified by the liver, high blood ammonia levels don’t cause lung scarring in any disease state. Inhaling ammonia could damage the lungs, so I hope people aren’t doing that.

I asked him and he said he meant ammonia. It’s sad that I honestly didn’t see it as far fetched considering the other miracle cures people are willing to try over a vaccine.

Come on down! Should be able to find one without having to come too far south.

yeah , been hearing stories that is pretty easy for us (Canadians ) to get it .
At this moment not to concerned about not having the booster .
Done my 3 trips in the last 3 months and have nothing planned for a bit so no huge rush.

i did just get an email cheap Mexico cruise that i might be eligible for so will look into if im and apply . that might change my need to get the booster earlier

Fully vaccinated and received my second shot 9 months ago.

Not getting a booster.

Why?

I'm a Federal contractor. Why rush out and get this booster when Omicron appears to be mild? I figure if the next variant  is more serious,  the Feds will mandate that I get that booster (which I will). Plus the Covid numbers are way down here in Florida.

Once the holidays are over, I'll go get my shingles vaccine.

Because doctors are recommending you do?

"Why take this cholesterol medicine? I feel fine"

"Why get this Tetanus shot? I don't walk around rusty nails."

"Why take this blood pressure medicine? I don't feel anything is wrong."

"Why get a colonoscopy? My poop is normal"

The whole "I don't think I need the booster now" we keep seeing is basically saying "All the doctors that are saying we should get it don't realize that the numbers aren't a big deal and don't really know what they are talking about. I'll listen to them about some things but I know when I don't need to listen to them."

Just scheduled my booster for 12/23. My company is really anal about this stuff. Besides masks etc., we had to wear safety glasses up until a few months ago and for a few months we even had proximity sensors that would beep when you were within 6' of another person with a sensor. On the plus side we get an extra 4 hours of PTO for each shot.

All of those examples have been very consistent for years/decades.

Sorry if I don't jump to get a shot that they tell me I should get after telling me I didn't need to.

I'll wait for the next hoop I have to jump through.

I don’t know if it’s more arrogant, or ignorant, but either way, I have no idea when people decided doctors don’t know what they’re talking about. There is no other healthcare recommendation which is so second guessed.

PSA: Colonoscopy recs just changed, such that colon cancer screening starts at age 45, instead of 50.
