Willy Taveras - I can steal 100 bases (1 Viewer)

In all seriousness, Taveras is on the verge of turning the corner as a fantasy outfielder.

He showed the hitting ability in 07...

He showed the legit SB ability in 08...

...and he's well on his way to combining the two in 09.

Outfielder Willy Taveras, who has been out of the majors since 2010, is hoping to make it back to the big leagues with the Royals. On Tuesday, the Royals signed Taveras to a minor-league deal.Taveras, who turns 31 on Christmas day, last played with the Washington Nationals in 2010, when he appeared in 27 games and hit .200 with four RBIs. In seven seasons in the majors, Taveras batted .274 with a .647 OPS and 195 stolen bases in 670 games with the Astros, Rockies, Nationals and Reds. Taveras played in two World Series, first with Houston in 2005 and with the Rockies in 2007.

Now, I think it's safe to say the Royals are great.

I'll be the first to admit I was a bit hasty with Dayton Moore

New Cardinals outfielder Peter Bourjos said he didn’t expect to be designated a regular just yet but he had a lofty goal if he received significant playing time this season.

“I’d like to be in the 40s,” said Bourjos, referring to his potential stolen-base total as he was interviewed at the Cardinals’ Winter Warm-Up, which wrapped up Monday.

“It’s all about how you’re swinging the bat,” said Bourjos. “In the minor leagues, I had a season where I stole 50 bags and I had a lot of seasons where I was in the 30s. So, in the 30-to-40 range would be nice.”

Holding Taveras is several keeper leagues waiting for the explosion. Laugh while you can, but that hundo is coming.

He must be hoping the Cards get him 900 at-bats this season.
