Worked out great for NE and it’s been working out well for KC for the last few years.Okay, now I find it very easy to recall the last time a division was as stacked as the AFC W. For example, the 2000-2018 AFCE.I'm trying to recall the last time a division was as stacked as the AFC W.
Also, the Raider's fan who couldn't help himself was pretty funny, seriously, I enjoyed it. BTW, enjoy Josh McDaniels. Oh, and Mark Davis. The money that Denver will eat seems super important to you. For you to highlight it, then let's also not forget they now have a war chest at their disposal. They have more money than the 6 richest teams in the NFL...COMBINED. Unless you get some big benefit from that, who cares who foots the bill? That's not gonna hamstring them nearly as much you'd think/like. *** far as fans go, all we care about is winning a Superbowl. I've never heard any talk of how much a Championship cost teams, or know anybody that cares in the end.
There's this thing in the NFL called a salary cap. You might want to look up how it works.
Cute. My point is that they have the financial means down the line to do way more than other owners are willing to do, (hi Spanos family, for example), and it's not close. Their current situation won't last forever and they won't have problems eating some spare cash a long the way. Meanwhile, your owner can't afford more than a bowl for a haircut.
Your obsession is intriguing and I was being sincere when I said I enjoyed your reply (initially). But since we're being smart asses now -- I mean, you are a Raiders fan, it's mandatory -- the Broncos will be in the Superbowl before the Raiders ever sniff it, and then some, as long as Mark Davis is running that ship(hole). Enjoy!

To me the biggest mystery with Wilson is how has he lost his legs already? He actually turns 35 tomorrow and granted I think Brees and Brady messed with our heads a little on how QB's should age but his loss of ability to move was just so sudden and without having suffered a massive lower body injury or anything.

Did not see that you had said and from most of the replies to my post it does not sound like people still understand what it means to him to have lost his ability to move like he used to and the overall impact that has on his game, both as a runner and a passer. To me the biggest mystery with Wilson is how has he lost his legs already? Man. Who could have seen this coming?
I got lambasted in this thread for pointing it out.
I think most people understand the importance of mobility to his game and anticipated eventual (maybe even sooner rather than later) decline. Fewer people saw the cliff he's seemingly fallen off. If the decline started last year, it would be really hard to delineate from all the other not great stuff going on - the hand injury, o-line, starting Riverdance six games and general team "discord". All that considered, I still have questions about how his legs fell off at 34.Did not see that you had said and from most of the replies to my post it does not sound like people still understand what it means to him to have lost his ability to move like he used to and the overall impact that has on his game, both as a runner and a passer. To me the biggest mystery with Wilson is how has he lost his legs already? He'll obviously improve, but not to where they thought he'd be.I think there are a couple of things going on:
1. Square peg in a round hole. Wilson is not a prototypical west coast QB. He's more of a downfield thrower - he reads deep to short, not left to right. Hackett brought in a west coast offense, and it doesn't suit him. Most QBs are system-specific - even Peyron Manning struggled in an offense not tailored to his strengths (see his time with Kubiak). It's easier to replace the coach than QB, so this can change.
2. I think the Seattle game on week 1 messed up his confidence. I think he was emotionally invested in that game like no other, and for the game to as poorly as it did - goal line fumbling, mismanaged game organization, etc... It was something he didn't recover from, and things snowballed. I think he can bounce back next season with the right coach.
Or maybe he gets beat out by that Rypien kid. He'll obviously improve, but not to where they thought he'd be.I think there are a couple of things going on:

Russell Wilson had better stats against the Raiders in week 4? Josh Jacobs just had a much better game against denver.Baker mayfield can come in to the rams and succeed after 2 days but Wilson still can’t get anything done after 5 months.
That's my dream but not sure they'll give him a fair shot with so much invested in Russ.Or maybe he gets beat out by that Rypien kid. He'll obviously improve, but not to where they thought he'd be.I think there are a couple of things going on:

Interesting how things turn out. We're all gonna see just how bad of a coach Pete Carroll is now. He's done absolutely NOTHING without Wilson.

Which franchise would you rather be today?Too early in the day to start hitting the bottle. If I were going to bet on which one of those franchises goes to a Super Bowl sooner? I'd pick Seattle.
One is 8-7 and the other 7-8, so not much difference to me. It's not like either are going to be contending for a Super Bowl. I suppose my comment of hitting the bottle struck a nerve if you had to dig this out of the archives.Which franchise would you rather be today?Too early in the day to start hitting the bottle. If I were going to bet on which one of those franchises goes to a Super Bowl sooner? I need to update 2022 and 2023 but we were doing quite well documenting Russ Wilson and his teams once he started getting paid BIG MONEYOh sweet jeebusBoltBacker said:Everyone is saying Wilson means a big bump for Jeudy/Sutton but I'm not so sure Wilson won't be missing Lockett/Metcalf.
-Why don't we start with Seattle's record and number of playoff wins after Wilson stopped being paid his 4 yr-3rd round Rookie contract affording the Seahawks the luxury to load up when he was a rookie and dial back the playbook and let Lynch win them a Title and almost won them a 2nd Title if not for Wilson throwing a catastrophic interception when Seattle was on the brink of B2B Super Bowls pushing them into the upper atmosphere with Dynasty talk but instead we know it was merely cashing in on Wilson's rookie deal which paid about $500k per season his first 3-4 years in the NFL.
Summer of 2015....Wilson demands to be paid and wants the deal done rather quickly before the season starts and doesn't want to discuss it much. In case folks forgot. Wilson pocketed a $31M bonus that summer prior to his 4th year salary of just $700k.
2015: Wildcard beat MN 10-9, lost Divisional Round
2016: Wildcard again, Division Round loss again
2017: No Playoffs
2018: Loss to Dallas in the Wildcard Round 24-22...Seattle seems to struggle during this period scoring points in the Playoffs.
Spring-2019 4yr/$140M deal is signed by Wilson
2019: Wildcard round 17-9 win over Philly, lose to Green Bay in the divisional round
The off season i seem to recall Wilson being disgruntled with Seattle and their front office.
2020: Wildcard loss to the Rams and it feels like this is when Wilson wanted to get some trade talks going on.
2021: Pretty bad year and lots of talk about him being traded.
The point is they didn't get to a single NFCC game once they paid Wilson a lot of money and had to make cuts in other spots. I'm not sure he is the QB that will put you over the top. He might be more Kirk Cousins than some folks want to admit.
Hey man if you feel like you can insult people for having opposing views just prepare to have your card pulled. One is 8-7 and the other 7-8, so not much difference to me. You reacted to a post I made way back when this started. I fail to see any taking accountability here. Trade doesn’t look lopsided all things considered at this point. The addition of Payton has helped Wilson, but it doesn’t change the fact that it would seem Payton wants a different QB. I still Denver being relevant before Seattle. Neither has reached that point honestly. If anything, I see Denver heading in the right direction at this point. Not sure why you’re patting yourself on the back here.Of course I did. Point is this trade looks like on of the most lopsided in NFL history just two years later and “people” thought I was hitting the bottle for liking Seattle’s side. It’s just funny.

I don't think he was a first ballot HOFer before, so I would vote no to the first ballot part. But he's not done playing, so he could still end up as one. His PFR HOF Monitor Score is currently 85.59, ranking him as the #21 QB. The average score for a HOF QB is 108. His score will likely go up a bit once this season is over.Still 1st Ballot Hall of Fame?

Much better for Broncos Country than Rodgers. Both short and long term.
Football HOF is about narrative, not stats. I don’t think these formulas ultimately mean that much.I don't think he was a first ballot HOFer before, so I would vote no to the first ballot part. The following players all have higher scores than Russ: Brady, Rodgers, Brees, Ryan, Roethlisberger, and Rivers. Wilson is ranked one spot above Eli (who is getting in whether people think he should make it or not). The only other current player besides ARod ranked higher than Wilson is Mahomes (who likely still has many years to play.) There are 8 HOF QBs that have lower Monitor scores than Wilson, so he likely will make it at some point.
