I have no shortstop yet, but I am hoping that some of my relievers pan out and I will be able to trade some pitching for some hitting.
Good luck getting a starting SS for a reliever. No really...good luck.
Last year I got half a season of Yuni for Adam Lind and Reid Brignac. And I felt lucky to pull it off.Yuni hit 0.248/0.269/0.367 for me in the sim. :bag:
SS is a hrad position to expect to be able to deal for. So many MLB clubs end up with pseudo platoons or guys injured that it forces you to cobble together enough PAs even if you've drafted a starting SS and a backup. That was a huge mistake I made last year. Expecting any of these non-top 20 SS (or positional players for that matter in general) to play 600 PAs (or even 400) is just asking for trouble. Sucky real life guys are by definition sucky...their RL teams know that and aren't real hesitant to replace them with other sucky guys just to "shake things up".Every team will have plenty of reliever IPs (starting IPs maybe not so much...:hi:).

I actually was hoping that Theriot would fall to my next pick. I will have to cobble something together now. Definitely going to be interesting.....

You guys are killing me. I should have saved Theriot and taken Harang... and Boxberger was on my list for a few rounds down the road.

23.06 Joe Blanton, SP PHI

23.06 Joe Blanton, SP PHI
I remember him being good during the 2008 Phillies post-season run. I know he's had injury problems as of late ... but was Blanton falling in this draft more from his injuries, or more from a perception that he can no longer pitch, period?

I think it was the injury thing... he was actually really good in the time he pitched last year, but I'm skeptical he can get to 150 innings this year.

23.12 Matt Downs - UTIL - Houston

A repeat of last year would be nice - 10 HR, 41 RBI, 864 OPS in 222 PA's. 1B, 2B, 3B (and hopefully SS and OF this year).

Nice snipe. To me, Thames is another one who could have a "who saw it coming?" big season. Seems to have some of the righty-lefty concerns that Eephus mentioned about Lucas Duda. Very much worth the 23rd round dice roll nevertheless.
